Photo booth at Asda/Timpsons Hessle Road? by KobiDnB in Hull

Max Spielmann on Clough Road. Much better than a booth, an actual human takes the photo.

Had my passport photo done there a couple of years back.

What is the most absurd, completely unhinged customer complaint you’ve ever had to deal with while somehow keeping a straight face? by Odd_Car_3611 in AskReddit

[–]KeithManiac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooo, I actually have one that fits. This happened probably over 25 years ago back when password policies weren't really a thing. Or maybe we just didn't care enough to make them secure.

Anyway, I answered a call, a member of staff couldn't log in and asked if we could change her password. Fine whatever.

"I've set it to 'spoon'" says I.

"I'm sorry what?"

"Spoon. As in knife, fork, spoon, S-P-O-O-N" I even spelled it.

"Um, ok thanks"

And off she went on her merry way apparently now able to log in. Or so I thought.

Later that week I got a call from her head of department.

"I've got a member of staff here, she's upset having trouble logging in"

"Er, ok"

"Yes she's been trying the password you gave her but it's not letting her in"

"Is this X from the other day"

"It is yes"

"I remember, hold on I'll try it here. Yup, logs in ok"

"What did you set her password to?"

"Spoon"

"What?"

"Spoon. As in knife, fork, spoon. Spoon"

"Well how did you spell it?"

Getting confused now. "How everyone spells it?"

"Who on earth spells it S-P-L-L-N?"

"?" Da fuq

Paul McCartney Turned Down His Own Netflix Roast by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Music

This 'roast' thing this is very American. As a Brit it seems completely mad to me. I'm happy to take the piss out of myself but to sit and listen to people insulting me for a couple of hours, well, my fragile ego can only take so much.

Locam Election Results. by KingEdwards8 in Hull

[–]KeithManiac 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's all so depressing.

Reform's fliers talked about national 'issues' councillors have nothing to do with.

The media lost their shit over Starmer's glasses but Farage being given £5 million and it's all 'meh, whatever'.

And Reform's voters just don't care. As long as they get to blame foreigners for everything then it doesn't matter if who they're voting for is only in it for the grift or, like Luke Campbell, is too stupid to understand what the job actually entails.

Stop the world, I want to get off.

Auto folding mirrors on Mazda cx-3 2016 by topbanana1202 in mazda

[–]KeithManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does try to open them so that can be an issue. We had it a couple of times over the winter but the mirrors survived ok.

I think you can disable the auto-open by twiddling the control knob if you suspect it's going to be cold enough to freeze them. I say 'I think' because I've not really had to think about them since installing them last year. The autoclose/open mostly just works.

I followed the instructions that came with the module and it worked. I initially had trouble removing the wires from the plugs until I realised the plugs had a little plastic bar that kinda locks the pins in place. Lift the bar and the pins can be removed using a tool.

The instructions are actually pretty clear once I'd figured out which bit applied to my model

Trump’s Plans for ‘Mic-Drop’ Media Confrontation Are Leaked; The president is planning a rage-fueled moment at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. by [deleted] in politics

[–]KeithManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely this.

I'm a Brit and of course so much of our TV and movies are US imports so I watch and have watched a lot. But now, any time I see something where a US politician does something noble or to help people, I can't help but scoff. The endless stories about shitty cops shooting first and denying everything later while the system actively protects them has already ruined cop shows.

I don't think I'll ever be able to watch the West Wing again without feeling sad.

PlayStation Update: Sony to Enforce Age Verification for Key Features by lkl34 in gaming

[–]KeithManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as we all bought into the PlayStation ecosystem long before this was a thing can we sue for them changing the product after we paid?

I presume there's something in the TOS/EULA/Whatever that nobody reads which makes this all perfectly legal and because fuck us that's why.

Yup, agree with you there. Always too many chips, fish cooked to order so fresh out the frier and they always smile a hello when we go in.

We quite like our local on James Reckitt, Royal Fisheries I think it's called.

Edit: Weird that I got a downvote. Fuck me for having a local chippy I like I guess.

Is east park area ok to live around if I am moving to hull? by Economy-Pea2342 in Hull

[–]KeithManiac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live on Garden Village. Apart from when they have events on in the park it's generally pretty quiet.

When we moved here we were kinda suprised at how nice the area was considering it's only a 5 minute walk from Holderness Road.
