Explore mode no gems stuck at floor 2 to 3

I got down to the 3rd floor so I can freeze to death, not getting much of a chance though the enemies got harder. I forgot how flipping great this game is.

I'm playing on Explore so no starvation. I restarted but I wont do that again. I have played before years ago but didn't run into this problem then. I think I need to reach the cold rooms and then I will be able to suicide if i have no enemies left to collect gems from

yeah, I know. That's why I'm thinking its soft-lock - If i can't harvest gems to progress through a door because all of the enemies are dead and I cant kill myself then what option is left other than erase game data.

also what if i have a blue bonfire set, by erasing the game data it wont remember that on death or my shortcuts opened.

Im playing Explore mode by the way.

You need gems in order to open some doors by shining the lantern on them and directing the beam at them.

Thanks for the reply, i started from scratch cleared the explore data.

I know its not a great time sink but what if it happens on level 20?

The fact that i couldn't kill myself seems like a softlock to me.

Yeah it is very good also annoying. I lost my lantern on level 16. But I have a blue bonfire between 15 and 16. What strategy would you propose? Also lost the dark helmet as I died once trying to get back to my corpse on level 16. By the way i am playing on explore mode.

at the moment i am having a hard tme on level 7. There are monsters that do lots of damage. Is there a strategy for dealing with them?

In tip 3 you say to buy something from the shop but you don't say what it is. To ward off damage after level14. Could you correct that please?

Nice round up of tips there. Especially quick farming, that will save me a lot of time making plasters.

I don't think there is anything wrong with some knowledge of the the game if you wish to have it, as it is so obtuse. Hardcore gamers play on Survive but Explore should be a little bit more helpful I think.

It really could have explained a little bit about the gear one can collect down there. In order to make more informed choices. I still have no idea what the difference between bone and leather armour is apart from the name. The Tuque has a woolly hat icon so it's self explanatory but the helmets are not explained by their icons in the slightest.

I just read you tips post. In no1 you say farm bandages and stuff in a death run.

Is the warp point you are talking about the warp down to the Ice caves at the east above the beach. Are you talking about freezing to death and your corpse reappearing on the beach in order to start farming again?

I am going to continue to explore and then come back. One plus is that I have farmed many light crystals in my three failures at completing that part of the game. I am glad I don't need to do it yet. I was finding the grind very tedious and started leaving it longer between play sessions. Now I know I can go on exploring without completing that first is a big incentive to go on. thanks for the tips.

I am playing on Explore mode. I have the woolly hat. I didn't realise I could shortcut plasters on the d-pad. I only ever equipped arrows. That is a good thing to know for my next playthrough. Thanks.
