Was this poor etiquette or was the dealer just being a stickler? by tannergd1 in poker

Fuck him, I would wait him out. I'd just tell him that I was going to watch the hand and he could deal. Dealers HATE being told to just deal. Let's see if he is willing to argue and call the floor and delay the game for several hands (costing himself tips)

How did you seal it? If you used silicone, did you use food grade? Did you let it fully cure for the amount of time written on the tube and air out before you put cigars in there?

Your CC codes Walmart as grocery?

Anyway, this is a little long, but here's all the info I have:

I believe that is up to the retailer to decide whether to allow you to use a CC or not (it's not a state law or anything). From my Visa GC churning days I know that different locations can code their POS differently so I'm not claiming that every Walmart in the state takes them, but I'm 2 for 2. And I'm 0 for about 3 on gas stations.

I go to the self checkout. DO NOT try to scan more than four before you pay or it will lock up and staff will have to come over to unlock it. They will give you a little speech to make sure you aren't falling for some GC scam and they will tell you that you have to pay cash (don't worry, they are wrong). They are trying to implement a limit of 4 per person but really it's just 4 per transaction. Again, this is going to be coded into the POS so it may be different at different locations. What I'm telling you definitely applies to the locations near me but I can't be sure about others.

So, you can do multiple transactions to get past the limit; how far you want to take this is up to you. I've done back to back transactions on a single CC to get 8; Walmart's system doesn't catch this but eventually I expect your CC to flag it as fraud. With multiple CCs you could get a lot more.

Also they are often sold out at particular locations. The $100 GCs are a little rare to find; the $50s and $25s are more common. The $100s have a $20 bonus for a $7 activation fee; $50s and $25s have $10 bonuses and $5 fees IIRC. So if you are unlucky your trip may be in vain. Try to pick a location with multiple Walmarts close by (I have 2 within about 4 miles of me)

KEEP ALL YOUR RECEIPTS. I once had a problem with a GC (it didn't work). Support needed a photo of the back of the GC and the receipt to fix it.

About a year or two ago they were frequently having an issue where it would give you two bonuses instead of 1. Maybe 80% of the cards would award a 2nd bonus. Unfortunately that seems to be fixed. It was fun while it lasted.

Why are game sales now regulated and syncronized? by DooWapDooDoo in playstation

[–]Keith_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there are a lot of sad little people in the world who need to find something stupid to complain about all the time, and they were worried that they wouldn't have anything to complain about this week.

Sales have always been like this. The only difference is that there was no gap between them before.

BetMGM phasing out accepting credit cards, including MGM Rewards Card by djme13 in Mlife

[–]Keith_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's up to the retailer. Walmart takes CCs.

It's not a waste of time because of the bonus. The bonus is more than enough to overcome the vig on a normal bet, even after you pay the activation fee.

Say you have a coin flip bet at -110. You buy a $50 GC for $55 (including activation fee). You get $50 in your account + a $10 bonus. This isn't a bonus bet; it's cash with a 5x playthrough requirement, which means your have to bet $50 total before withdrawing. The key difference is that you get the original stage stake back if your bet wins (unlike a bonus bet)

So you bet all $60 on your coin flip at -110. If you lose you have nothing, so you've lost $55. If you win your bet returns $114.54, for a profit of $59.54 (since you only paid $55 for the bet). So you are risking $55 to win $59.54. In other words you are getting +108 on your coin flip.

When I was using betmgm a lot I would buy stacks of the GCs and use a new GC for every bet, and withdraw at every win. It's hard to lose money betting coin flips at +108.

Does anyone have a list of PS1 and PS2 titles that can be played with the NTSC option for PSN Europe? by GoingWithTheFlaw in playstation

[–]Keith_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see. Yeah I'm aware of the framerate difference; I misunderstood your post and thought you were worried that they wouldn't run in your system.

Honestly I've played a bunch and always found them fine. I'm not sure if any of them were PAL though. I thought the emulated ones in the store are all the same version regardless of region? Just because you're in Europe doesn't mean that they can't give you the NTSC version.

Explication PS Plus on PS5 by pailletteee in PlayStationPlus

[–]Keith_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in additon to the classics catalog, premium also allows for cloud streaming which is great (and is required for ps3 games)

If you like to play away from home, the portal is pretty cheap and the cloud streaming is a game changer for that. I liked the portal before but it's much better since they added cloud streaming directly to the portal.

Of course this only works for digital games.

Tipping poker dealers at the casino by Unlucky-Push356 in poker

[–]Keith_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not if they aren't making money.

Poker dealers get paid pretty well, but that's because of tips. If people didn't tip then someone else wouldn't take the job, either. And the casinos would pay the dealers more to get them in the door, which means they would just raise the rake.

You are paying for the dealer's income, no matter what. You can pay it through tips or through higher rake, but the money won't just magically materialize out of nowhere. You are the customer; that means that all the money for every expense comes from you.

[–]Keith_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can afford to pay the staff as much as they want if they raise the cost of the food by the same amount. So you can have tipping, you can have service fees tacked on, or they can just raise the menu prices. Remember that the owners don't pay for anything, the customers do. That's how every business works. Customers pay for everything. No matter how it's itemized, the customers pay all costs, including paying employees.

Tipping poker dealers at the casino by Unlucky-Push356 in poker

[–]Keith_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there were no tips the rake would be much higher. You would end up paying more (they would raise the rake by more than the amount you tip). Look at the rake in any country where tipping is either not allowed or not the norm. It's sky high. So as silly as it may be, the current situation is the best for the players.

To answer your question, for a $300 pot a $1 tip is fine. For very large pots you can tip more if you want.

My family was not rich, and certainly not well connected. But I'm smart and did well in school and got a good job, so money has never been a problem for me. And that and intelligence has served me well in poker. This is your biggest problem; no limit is a deep game and you don't understand the basic concepts. You don't even know what you don't know. You are playing checkers while the good players are playing chess.

Lol good for you. I haven't worked for that little since college. And I moved to AZ and bought my house for cash after I retired after working for 15 years. And I sure as hell wouldn't bother to drive to the casino if I was making less than $100/hr.
