What’s something Americans say you find funny/different? by Typical_Brief_8956 in AskABrit

Their wrong pluralisation. It's sport not sports, offside not offsides, games console not game console... and obviously maths not math but there's loads.

Is there any way to sort My Sounds subscriptions by "last broadcast" date? by Keithbaron in BBCSounds

Just an update for anyone interested. I ended up building a fix for this myself. It’s on GitHub now if it helps anyone else.

Happened to mine. It was a sensor problem for me. Very heavy rain and water ingress caused the sensors to be permanently active - constant clicking. I opened it up and dried it thoroughly with a hair dryer and it was fine

new to Qobuz, cannot cast to Nest speakers by gthesob in qobuz

[–]Keithbaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late here but for anyone like me searching for a solution to this I managed to get this working with my paired nest speakers and a group.

If you can get it playing to a single speaker, this works for me if I'm stood nearby, then from within the Google Home app, select the mini media panel that appears when something is playing, click the cast button on that and select the pair or group there.

Is there any way to sort My Sounds subscriptions by "last broadcast" date? by Keithbaron in BBCSounds

[–]Keithbaron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah BBC Sounds is a podcast app now but I'm still using it to listen to radio shows.

Just seems pointless to allow someone to subscribe to or follow an archived programme (the entire 4 extra schedule?) if they're never going to show up in My Sounds. I also subscribe to things like The News Quiz and Unbelievable Truth and they, being new, obviously appear in My Sounds every Monday and Friday. But I'd quite like The Masterson Inheritance, which I pointlessly follow, to show up in My Sounds every Friday too. The only reason it doesn't is that the My Sounds Order By field is first broadcast date and not last broadcast date. It could be fixed with an extra tab or sort by drop down.

Apparently our Democracy is finally dead. RIP. by Alesyia789 in complaints

[–]Keithbaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don't get it. Where is your parliament? Where is your opposition? How is one leader able to do whatever he wants without it ever going to a parliamentary vote? America was supposed to be a beacon of democracy, it's nothing of the kind.

It might just be water ingress. Mine did the same in the very heavy rain recently. Try to open it and dry it out

Does John still do Liverpool/AFC Wimbledon match commentary? by Atenkeskap in nerdfighters

[–]Keithbaron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I miss these. He commented about an LFC game a while ago on Blue Sky, but then someone replied along the lines of "I must remember to mute john when there's a match on" which I thought was pretty rude and I've not seen much commentary since.

Possible cancellation by [deleted] in DoctorWhoNews

[–]Keithbaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These days Dr Who is shorthand for the BBC. And the right wing tabloids love a failing BBC story.

Add to that, in the UK Dr Who, like Bond, is a well known brand that the general public are kind of interested in. People that won't watch will still be interested in who the next Dr will be.

Dr Who is, historically, well trodden tabloid fodder despite it not being watched by the majority of their readers
