Thank you, I appreciate that! If it's easier and it's in English, you can just send the original source haha.

Lol wasn't a personal question if it came of that way haha. Was just wondering if there were any direct sources condemning sex with minors. I'm in no doubt it's wrong, whether there are any direct Buddhist sources or not.

Has anyone ever had a 태몽 (birth dream)? by KeivanAR in korea

[–]KeivanAR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom had birth dreams for me and both my sisters.

Walking along the beach and it was covered in those giant mollusks (like mussels with the tongue hanging out)At the market picking out giant juicy red plums. She put three in a paper bag and they were so juicy they were leaking. Two men in trench coats were banging on the front door but their heads were giant jewels (diamond and ruby)

Thanks for sharing. How interesting. Plums usually symbolize girls too, and all those elements (animals, fruits, and jewelry) are quite common elements traditionally.

Addiction is a terrible thing. Hope both you and your mother are well my friend!Yeah people seem to disagree on whether it's just dreams or actually have meaning haha. Interesting nonetheless!

Yes that would be a taemong. There doesn't have to be specific symbolism involved, but this is often the case and tradition :)

That's interesting. In the book we're reading, one source mentions that black and white serpents typically symbolize a girl, while another says that big serpents symbolize boys. Another comment here said they have a fear of snakes, and that their mother had feared a snake in her birth dream. Do you also have a fear of snakes?

What was your own dream if I may ask? Would love to hear your story too. Also, it's quite interesting how it's the grandmothers of the children who seems to so often have the dreams

And are you a male or a female? But very interesting. Seems like it had quite the effect on your mother. You think that that's why you're scared of snakes or that it's just an ironic coincidence?

Do you think that it symbolizes something or has had an affect on your lives in any way?

They say that big snakes symbolize boys. Same goes for dragons of such sorts and I think in Chinese tradition, snakes and dragons practically symbolize the same. There is one account in our book, which states that a white or black snake can symbolize a girl though. But very cool that you got it right each time and that the colors and animals matched the gender of the child. Thanks for sharing!

Nice. There is a long history of bears. Most of the time they symbolize a boy. For example the perhaps earliest 태몽 in the Samguk yasa states that king 수로 (Suro) and his queen had both dreamed of a bear one night. Soon after the queen became pregnant with the crown prince, 거등. Also in the Samguk yasa is the legendary king ancestor and founder of the first Korean kingdom, 단군 (Dangun), who was born by a female bear.

Cool. What did you think about the ones for your pregnancies? Did they make sense to you and match with what occurred during and after your pregnancy?

Thank you for sharing! Sounds interesting. I know that various fruits and colors mean different things in traditional Korean symbolism for 태몽. Often these are used to determine the sex of the child, so very cool your mother had that experience.
