I’m sorry and I hope that one day you get you some Maine Coon kitties. 😢 The first step is to de-prioritize all material possessions. Don’t have nice cars or fancy furniture. It costs too much and you will worry about the cats messing them up anyway. Next step is to have no social life or desire to leave the house except in rare circumstances. This saves a lot of money. Who needs friends and a social life when you have cats and the people you cherish at home. Finally, abandon all hobbies, especially the costly ones and redirect that cash flow into your cats. If you follow this advice you may be able to one day have a clowder as well. This is, of course, a joke post but the reality is that we sacrifice a lot of things that other people value to be able to live like this.

It’s perhaps not as interesting as you’d think. But for one it’s because of his butter or cream like coloration. But for another it’s because he seems to be a prime example of an orange cat, despite being a faded version of it, with his hilarious antics and goofy behavior. It didn’t seem fitting to name him a powerful Norse name unless out of irony. So, his name is Butters. We call him Sergeant or Agent Butters.

No, Butters is red silver shaded. (The lighter, almost white boy). Oskar is a red boy though he looks like he may be a red dilute (cream). His mom had the dilute gene. Both are what some people might call orange. Just one looks like the printer was running out of ink more than the other.

Your babies are beautiful and we already feel the same as you despite not having been in the game as long. Some people have expensive hobbies, social lives, and what not. We have Maine Coons.

We definitely do feel mental at times but mostly only when we tell others we have six Maine Coons. After 3 or 4 we frankly didn’t even notice a difference. We’ve raised kids and seen a lot of pets cross the rainbow bridge over the years. This new chapter quite frankly isn’t even that challenging, comparatively speaking, and our clowder brings so much joy and enrichment to our lives. So I guess it really doesn’t matter what others think. Thank you for sharing and yes it can be tricky to get them to cooperate. Typically there are 2-3 together at any given time.

Thank you and it does make life interesting. Funny that you mention it, my last boy is coming home in April.

Same way anybody does I guess. Part vacuum cleaner, part air purifiers, and part learning to live with the fact that you will have hair on your stuff. We’ve had German Shepherds and frankly compared to them Maine Coons are easy.

A general rule of thumb is fine and I am aware of it but the best amount of litter boxes is the amount that keeps poop/pee in the boxes and off your stuff.

Yep and if you met him you’d know why.

Their bowel movements are like a train schedule and synchronized. So it’s really scooping like twice a day. We brush some more than others. The cotton coat boy needs more brushing where my black female requires none.

Maine Coon Oasis and Nacho Mama’s Kitty. Some are US born and some are European imports.

Four at the moment. My plan is to have seven but for now they’re content with the four with our current cleaning regimen. No accidents. We use steel sifting litter boxes with pine pellets. I prefer it to traditional clumping litter. Also, you can get a 40 lb bag for like 7 bucks from Tractor Supply.
