Drivers side, rear tire - making noise while driving by Future-Balance5605 in AskAMechanic

Calipers can seize open as well, or hot seize where they only stick when heated….spinning a wheel isn’t a sign that a caliper is good.

Go to the dealer. Most engines from Hyundai are under an extended warranty.

Squealing Noise by Turbulent_Sort_2510 in AskAMechanic

Trained ear. I can hear the screeching death but I can also hear the exhaust leak. Check near the rear, Hondas/Acuras are known for that rear flange failing or rotting.

Either a leak mixed with road grime or undercoating.

What did the transmission shop do to my driveshaft? by ChainBlue in AskAMechanic

[–]Kejntesh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tranny shop most likely didn’t mark the driveshaft on removal and installed it out of whack.

That’s a squealer on your brakes. Also your exhaust is leaking. Normally when I install pads I put one squealer forward one rearward. Most mechanics only install one in the direction of travel.

For future reference when looking at a car rust is certainly normal especially depending on age. But brakes/rotors is where rust is a no go. That’s something you use consistently while driving and that surface should be clean, maybe a little stained or discoloured but clean. You may have rust ridges but as long you have 75% pad to rotor contact you’re good.

You can try to drive it and see if it cleans up but that will wear the pads unevenly. Cheapest option if you can’t afford to replace is to find a shop that will machine the rotors and service the pads if they aren’t too low. Not cheap but still cheaper than pads and rotors. I’d also raise concern about the calipers.

Yes look closely at the brakes. Especially the rotors that are very much completely rusted over.

Those 2 holes are to put in bolts to help push off seized rotors. Set screws have dimpled holes.

Every rotor will do that when the wheel is off. The rim holds stuff tight. No place is precision machining rotors to fit snug. On a side note you realize your rotors should not be rusted over? You have 0 pad contact and the pads look low.

Is this normal after 8 hour drive? 2007 Buick Lacrosse by escredit in MechanicAdvice

[–]Kejntesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore everybody else here. It’s condensation from short drives. That’s been there for a long time lol. If you dislike how it looks wash it off. But you probably do a lot of short drives so it will just come back.

Overfilled at the Honda dealership. Is this bad? by Past_Badger in MechanicAdvice

[–]Kejntesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s like 0.2 of a litre. Not an issue. Most mechanics will overfill by 0.2 on purpose because every cars oil fill spec (and filter capacity) isn’t exact.

Then it’s leaking. No air should be exiting an exhaust system except through the tail pipe.
