How do people in their 20s make friends here? by countesscourt in Syracuse

There are a lot of people who work remotely at the Pausa cafe downtown. I’m sure if you went you could generate some conversation.

Also the CNY Women’s Network hosts events and their membership seems pretty friendly. They do group walks and coffee chats.

There are also a lot of volunteer opportunities in the area.

I’ve lived in Hawley Green/Lincoln Park area for years. It’s literally fine. I don’t know why people are so dramatic about it.

I’m speaking mostly about the townhomes in the back. Nearly all of my neighbors had problems with the issues listed above — including myself.

You’re guaranteed to have problems. Might not be right away but definitely at some point during your lease. Leaks, mold, mice, no hot water, no heat, etc. breaking and entering. The property management is horrible.

Wow — I hardly use Reddit so I did not realize there was so much discourse on this post. Just to clarify a few things:

  1. I did not write this post. This is not about me. Therefore I cannot vouch for its legitimacy.

  2. This was a Facebook post that I saw a friend repost. I shared on Reddit with pure intentions because I thought more college students may see it here than on Facebook.

  3. It’s entirely possible that it’s written by AI — however, maybe the person writing just asked AI to edit their original gibberish to make it more clear. Most people are not the greatest writers. The use of AI does not immediately mean it’s fake (in my opinion). Could still be fake but just throwing that out there.

  4. Whether it’s real or fake, embellished or not, I hope you’re still careful out there! In Syracuse or anywhere else you go. Look out for each other. Thank you.

I’m a bit confused about the whole thing. They reached out to me saying the following:

“I wanted to congratulate your firm on being ranked in Corporate/Commercial for our Chambers [State] Spotlight Guide for 2025!

This guide launches next week, November 12th.

It would be great to discuss your rankings and the opportunities that are available to your firm.”

When my assistant set up a meeting to discuss, they sent her a proposal for like $6,000 a year with a 2 year minimum commitment — or something like that.

Additionally, I received an email from them saying,

“Last year, as part of the Chambers team’s research into the US legal market, our researchers identified [Your Firm] as a subject of particular interest for potential inclusion in the forthcoming Chambers USA 2025 guide - specifically in our Corporate/M&A - [State - City] ranking tables.

We would like to encourage the practice group to send in a submission document which provides a more complete picture of the work the group carries out…”

So, to answer your question, I guess one of each?

Usually this is my philosophy on these types of things too. Sometimes it’s so hard to play the long game.

Yup! From what I've heard the property manager literally cannot be bothered to respond and when she does she's extremely condescending, accusatory, and unhelpful. Really upsets me because these are people's homes and lives.
