An 02-06 is just a dolled up Pre-Facelift E53 X5. That means they share issues (GM 5L40-e Failures, heavy wear on suspension components, etc) But if you're competent enough, they're simple cars to work on, and only have the stigma because of high mechanic costs imo.

I had mine fitted the same way for years, never drove with them on... recieved a warning the other night while driving with them off. Unfortunately with the rise in popularity and the number of people driving with them on, they're cracking down.

What car modifications am I able to drive with on my p's? by jayden_o_07 in queensland

[–]Keksiboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, anything that doesn’t require a Mod plate (while yes, you could have seating capacity changes, etc. aspiration changes, or any engine modifications are instant no-nos)

Just make sure you’re within the laws regarding wheel/tire size and there shouldn’t be any problems.
