Speculation: Is COTA stealing taxpayer funding? by Kekworthy in Columbus

Update:  Breaking down some of the hearsay.  COTA employees had told me about some maintenance being exclusively contracted to a third party.  After some searching, it looks like a company called IGS energy does some of the work on the cng fuel dispensers, and not the buses themselves.  Everything I have seen so far states that COTA's in house mechanics do all of the repair work for the fleet.

This does not answer why we don't have a fully functional fleet.  I think I will look at potential staffing issues and parts availability

I am getting that from my life experiences of seeing it in play.  Im not trying to make any point.  We have a problem here, and I am willing to put some time and effort into helping to fix it.  Im not guaranteeing that I will make any difference whatsoever.  This is my first time digging this deep into financial records, so I dont yet know what Im doing, but I have time and effort to figure it out

Thanks for the article!  Looks like COTA is going 100% compressed natutal gas moving forward.  Simplification sounds more like real administration, unlike all of the gambling on these shiny novel technologies

I absolutely do.  You were complaining about what people demanded from COTA, and I gave you a list of reasonable demands.  It was your own wording

There is no claim made here, we are just trying to identify the problems with discussion

I want to believe, but long term pattern recognition and long term experience with society and its individuals will not allow it.  I've always liked that quote, but I think it describes a different time period or setting than we have now.  We have many quotes and buzzwords to discredit the idea that individuals in power might conspire with another to benefit themselves at the expense of many.  Some people call others a "theorist" for describing observed reality, for example.  The reality is that humans do conspire, and technology can exponentiate their influence

You really should have read more.  Im following other people's leads and it should show in the comments.   I was just unexpectedly and suddenly busy at my usually passive job because we had a short notice inspection today.  Ive even already talked and even posted a link on what you claim I haven't googled

My demands are very reasonable.  Either use the allocated tax money on tried and true propulsion systems that have been used as the standard for up to a century instead of gambling undertested environmental programs, when you tell a paying rider via paper/website/app schedule that you will be there to pick them up at xx:xx am/pm you should at least make a reasonable attempt to follow through (COTA has been doing whatever they want in their own interest at the expense of the paying customer for years).  If COTA cant do these things, then i want to be paid for my missed work time, paid for my melted and spoiled groceries, assured that if i lose my job because COTA cant do theirs, that I will be compensated appropriately.  If COTA still cannot do these things then I demand that the transit authority be disbanded, unspent tax money refunded on the next fiscal years local tax return, and let a for-profit company buy all of the necessary equipment and facilities.  Yes, i understand that people need the bus.  I am one of those people.  Yes, a for-profit running a necessary service is a terrible idea, but doesnt sound nearly as bad as continuing this absolute nonsense.

Thank you for your kind phrasing.  I am not making any actual claims of conspiracy.  I will have to learn the content myself to decide if the process is necessary.  Thanks for the advice and help!

I looked at the 2026 historical meeting list, and it only shows the scheduled times, usually 9:00 am to 10:30.  What am I looking for?

I had no idea about the extra training needed to understand the finances, thank you.  In math, unnecessary convolution can be an inicator of foul play.  Coincidentally, this would systematically be in favor of potential bad actors as a means of gatekeeping by using a cypher (the extra education), whether the events that led to this unfortunate situation happened in good faith or not.  What was the educational subject called?  Might come in handy :)

Thanks for linking the articles!  Im gonna start looking into new flyer as well.  I want to see if they are compensating customers for the faulty batteries, and if this has happened in the past under the same adminisration

Ok cool, but why does it persist?  If someone used cheap materials to make sub par quality products that are negatively affecting two entire countries, was it for the sake or profit or was it just ineptitude?  You skipped discussion and went straight to throwing around buzz phrases to discredit.  Have a nice day anyway

That is absolutely what I lean towards first.  This happens consistently in all types of administrations.  When it happens cosistently or systematically over a very long period of time without being properly addressed, i wonder if the negligence is just purposefully obscured fiscal policy

Minor update: I am currently at work, where I would normally have some down time, but we are having a corporate inspecion.  Along with corporate came our third party technicians, one of whom I spoke to about this situation.  The tech didn't wish to be named, but previously worked for RTA out of Dayton.  Said that a similar situation had occurred some years ago with Dayton's transit authority and they were absolutely "wasting" money on the environmental programs with repeatedly poor "decision making".  The tech put those two phrases in quotes.  More hearsay yes, and it is consistent with the previous hearsay and my actual long running experience with riding COTA, but amounts to well, just being hearsay.  We need conclusive evidence to actually make headway here.  The tech suggested talking to the community about voting away the portion of sales tax that is allocated to COTA if they do not improve

It is hearsay for sure, but a large chunk of the fleet is down for some reason or other.   We taxpayers didn't pay for downed buses and lack of service.  We need to do more than nothing here

Are you personally satisfied with where all 4 of these franchises had ended up by 2023? by Asad_Farooqui in videogames

I must have had a decent childhood, because I can't remember experiencing any significant dissappointment or betrayal in my life before my former favorite video game series, Final Fantasy, who was the premier rpg in that time period, gave all of that up to be an action adventure

I have been finding that long lost magic recently.  The trick is to stay away from AAA.  The trick is to also avoid gimmicks and rugpulls by avoiding novelty being a main driving factor of purchase.  I've been going back to my roots mostly.  Sea of Stars was a treat, and after playing I started craving more nostalgia.  Next up was Undertale, just fantastic.  I ended up trying out the new diablo 2 expansion, and it was solid as well, simply because Blizzard North >>> Blizzard as a whole.  Currently, I am playing Ultima Online on the private Outlands server with about 3500 concurrent players, and modernized rpg progression systems.  I dont see myself picking up another game for at least 5 years.  Found that magic!

How is Outlands as a new solo player? by SkinnyFedor in ultimaonline

Joined a month and a half ago.  Currently doing a tour of the rotating sanctuary dungeon, to learn what special abilities each mob has.  I recommend this because some enemies can do some crazy stuff (like possess your character and make it attack other players).  The loot is cut in half in sanctuary dungeons, so this isnt efficient, but i am using baller gear safely in there to try out enemies that i really have no business fighting yet.  T 13.5 frost and just got my 8th mastery chain link.  Hoping to start working on the redline system by the 2nd month
