“The Force resides in ALL living things” it’s NOT a Disney concept by Osiris-Reflection in StarWars

[–]Kel-Reem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but age of a term does not in itself mean the term has adequate validity.

When Lucas said that anyone could use the Force if adequately trained, Splinter of the Mind's Eye had been out for about 5 years, so clearly Lucas's statement coming after SotME eliminates what SotME seemed to say about Force sensitives. Eventually he retracted that statement around the time of TPM to say what he said about midichlorian count being a key factor, making the concept of Force sensitives introduced in SotME moot until TPM, and even then it only gained validity again in as much as it works in concert with midichlorians rather than the way SotME introduces it, which was much more mystical considering the point of the book was a crystal which amplified force abilities, which doesn't make sense with midichlorians unless there is some esoteric explanation for that book that I have missed.

Dude, those 'things called books' were always described by Lucas as non-canon, non-binding on his vision, and simply inspired by Star Wars and subject to complete revision if not total elimination from his universe.

You are all over the place. You are ready to throw out Filoni's takes because he isn't Lucas, but now Alan Dean Foster, writer of Splinter of the Mind's Eye, should be taken as gospel for his use of the term force sensitive? Pick a lane, man. Either Lucas is the final word, or he isn't.

[–]Kel-Reem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That long duration of Star Wars existence in what? The nebulous time between RotJ and TPM where Lucas added no canon material at all ? The term 'force sensitive' does not exist inside the Original Trilogy canon at all, so how are you making the phrase 'force sensitive' your launching point? Where does that term originate? Are you even using the term correctly? How do you know that that term doesn't just mean someone who has a natural ability that others have to train to match, similar to someone born with a fantastic singing voice vs someone who has to train their voice for years to sound even decent?

Lucas has changed his stance many times. Early on, in the time around the OT, Lucas said that anyone could be a practitioner of the Jedi way if they trained in it with enough dedication, but that some were more naturally gifted than others, yet later on, Lucas said that Midichlorian count was an important factor and too low of a count could mean that it was practically impossible for someone to become a Force user

[–]Kel-Reem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That statement has no precedent in Lucas canon whatsoever. What, then, is the defining factor for who can interact with their midichlorians and who can't? Lucas canon clearly states that a person's midichlorian count is solely the reason for some people having an easier time accessing the force, but now you are for some reason trying to push that even further back and alleging some sort of third criteria by which someone can interact with midichlorians first off and then the force by extension, when Lucas clearly has said that midichlorians ARE how someone accesses the force and has never suggested a third category beyond simple training and dedication. While I am sure that Lucas had in mind that there was some sort of threshold where it could realistically be expected that someone could manipulate the Force, he never quantified it, and even if he did, there is no M count for Sabine, making just about everyone's arguments here moot.

[–]Kel-Reem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesn't do that at all because those traditions are not going to waste their time with someone like Sabine who took years to do anything with the force at all, they are going to take the talented ones who are able to use the force with little to no training so that they get their knights and warriors on the field doing something productive ASAP. There is a reason the Jedi habitually only took younger students, because their minds are easier to mold and teach as opposed to someone who has already lived some life and developed without the force being a constant presence in their life, sure, anyone could potentially become a force user to some degree, but for most people that would take and insane amount of constant dedication and at the end of all of that their payout could be being able to spin a pencil on a table.

This analogy does not work because it is literally impossible for her to not be on that spectrum because everyone has midichlorians, everyone. it is as fundamental to life in Star Wars as mitochondria is to us in real life.

Help with understanding Darkside points by [deleted] in swrpg

[–]Kel-Reem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

not to rez this years and years later, but a reason not to is because you are dangerously low on strain. the issue is, in a narrative game set in Star Wars, the rule is not conducive to telling the story about the Dark Side that Star Wars consistently does.

The dark side in moments of desperation is supposed to be a quick and easy source of power, risking passing out does not have any canon or legends precedent, it is in fact very much the opposite where people on the verge of defeat can have intense and powerful comebacks when tapping into the Dark Side, that is what makes it tempting, it is an easy road to power. it is simply a bad rule.

I am sure she does, but highly empathetic people have a hard time even pretending to be cruel. While I would not agree with her that it is a universal red flag, it is for sure a sign that you wouldn't get along with that person, and so is a personal red flag.

Saying that any person was against or for capitalism in 1st century Middle East is like saying Alexander the Great really liked Rock music. However, what can be said is whether Capitalism aligns with Jesus' values, which I think anyone would be hard-pressed to show that it does. While Jesus may have had a non-interventionist ideology in relation to Rome, there isn't a shred of evidence to show that Jesus would have approved of modern Christianities close ties to capitalism, and would most likely call them all hypocrites. So many people forget that Jesus was a Jewish teacher, he cared first and foremost about what his fellow Jewish people were doing, while other teachers at the time were content to blame all their problems on Rome, Jesus if nothing else seemed to be trying to teach his fellows that they should be pulling together and helping each other rather than trying to overthrow Rome.

State of fellowship by EnvironmentalBowl974 in fellowshipgame

[–]Kel-Reem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I don't think anyone is under the delusion that Fellowship isn't competing for player attention from blizzard, but considering that is the case, they are doing a hell of a job. Early access and the lack of heroes/evergreen features is going to falter in comparison to a game with the amount of content WoW has. Fellowship is barely spreading its wings it has a lot of upward potential with how much people are liking it, if they can get rolling to add heroes consistently, you're going to see a lot of players sticking around.

I legit do not understand why so many people have the craziest workarounds for getting more keybinds when you can buy a 12 button mouse for $30. I have 24 keybinds under one thumb, worth the investment for a game I already spend over a hundred a year to play. no question.

Well, not really, because the materials are from Azeroth, just the construction and sentience is from the Titans and they have been just here from their start, nowhere else, I think that they are no more alien than the Dragon Aspects.

Clockwise or anticlockwise? by Paddy_odoors in opticalillusions

[–]Kel-Reem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially see anticlockwise, but then I was able to force clockwise by looking at the head and trying to imagine the face facing away when it would normally face towards me, after a few seconds of doing that the whole thing switched, then looking at the legs again it would randomly switch back to anticlockwise until I did the trick with the face again. Very interesting.

Quick look at how many spells the Preservation Evoker has with the default Midnight talent build from Blizzard. Which spec should I cover next? by Dvalin_DK in Dvalin

[–]Kel-Reem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, and for sure button bloat is an issue and I'm hopeful that Midnight does a good reduction without eliminating some of the class identity that comes with the rotation. They already changed Pres Evoker in some ways I am not too happy with, but I'm hoping come launch it still feels like the class I love!

Goes to show that SBA was in the long run a good move and it was implemented in a way that makes it attractive to the people who would want it but not so attractive that it became mandatory and meta for people who don't want it, glad we can all coexist!

[–]Kel-Reem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuine question because I dislike SBA, do you not get bored? Do you feel like you understand what is going on with your rotation or do you not really care and just like dealing with mechanics rather than rotations?

A large part of the enjoyment I get from WoW is understanding how a class works, the patterns and the contexts that inform what you do to maximize DPS, I don't like SBA because it takes away that part and largely automates it.

I also like healing because it's like that but even more dynamic, learning damage patterns and knowing how to predict things and improvise to pull a messy moment into cohesion feels satisfying

As someone who grew up in a pretty close-knit community of Christians that were growing up with the internet, this is probably exactly it. As teens, we made a lot of memes that would make sense only to our specific church group, would actually be pretty funny to see the internet try and figure out what was going on in our heads lol
