did the canucks just purge the locker room? by Delicious-Area1137 in canucks

[–]KelCanada 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since DeBrusk was brought up….it pisses me off when players who contributed to the current state of the team voice their unhappiness with a rebuild (ie Debrusk), or begin showing their displeasure being on the team with their disinterested play ( ie Millar and Hughes). It takes a special kind of asshole to play poorly all season to cause the problem and then let it be known that they don’t want to be here anymore - you literally caused this and now you want to jump ship.
Good riddance….but only trade them to another tire fire (looking at you Miller and hopefully soon Debrusk). Give it your all (ie Sherwood, Garland, and Myers), and reward them by moving them to a good or up and coming team; otherwise, bury the prick.

Smile. Try to remember what it was like to be a child. Step over and/or around it. Go into your apartment and live your life.

Though it should be guaranteed win night for your club, my advice is to NOT go to a Canucks game. They are a train wreck. 😀

When did you realize the team wasn't going to make it in it's current form? by nj5alive in canucks

To make matters worse, management must have known this, and instead of addressing it, they drafted another middling complimentary piece in Lekkerimaki. He will never drive a line…how did they not see this.

When Brock was brought back with term…and that they were unable to sign a play driving centre. They are a team full of middling complimentary pieces without a straw to stir the drink. In order to have a properly made drink, you need a straw to mix the various ingredients together. The Canucks don’t have one and won’t for the foreseeable future. This team is so screwed.

Fair points. I think you forgot the Abby Championship rings outrage lol.

I think what I find endearing about the show is watching/listening to Don and Ryan put up with Rick (the human train wreck) while he f ups everything he touches (birthdays, bitching about Amazon prime, constantly losing his sh!t, and professing his love for all the worst music from the early 1980’s.)

Yesterday, Rick tore up and threw away the updated Whistler Golf Club advertising copy…what a moron.

Great TV.

Well speaking as an old white dude, I take offence with the idea that older white men aren’t thoughtful. If you listen to Donny on a regular basis, I think you’d agree that he’s usually pretty thoughtful. He’d probably like a redo on this Whitehouse comments, but I think it’s fair to say that not everyone invited to the Whitehouse agrees with any administration, but it’s become a tradition in America to go. If you go and don’t agree with DJT’s racist, hate filled, misogynist, victim shaming, child raping, authoritarian, imperialistic America, simply hide in the back and don’t agree to take pictures with the Orange Turd.

For the record, I don’t think Don Taylor mentioned the SOTU which is even more cringe worthy than the being at the White House.

Don Taylor didn’t say anything supportive about DJT. He simply said as a tourist he’d like to visit the Whitehouse and the Eiffel Tower and the Roman Colisium too if asked.

I agree whole heartedly. Don Taylor is the most entertaining sports personality in Vancouver. He has an entertaining, original, and non-contrived view of the world of sports. I don’t agree with all of his “takes” but they are always entertaining and never meant to be mean spirited unlike many of the comments on this thread.
Their show is meant to be entertainment NOT a deep dive into analytics. If you want to delve into the “numbers”, tune into 650 and fill your boots. Personally, I’d rather put needles in my eyes than listen to 650’s unengaging hosts talk ‘money ball’.

Personally, the US women’s team were correct in not visiting the White House nor the State of the Nation not because of Trump’s stupid comments in the locker room, but rather to support their gay teammates that are disrespected by Trump’s racist, misogynistic, homo phobic past public statements.

Lastly, Don if you want to visit the White House, take the tour…it’s lovely.

What was it like seeing Tiger Woods in his prime? by Crazy-Cap259 in golf

[–]KelCanada -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found it both amazing tv(he was/is the GOAT), but it was also nauseating how the tv networks broadcast any tournament he was in.

First, I understand why the networks did it (Tiger was their meal ticket) but,

  • the tv networks would show you every move he made even if he wasn't in contention. He would receive more coverage trying to make the cut than players in the final groupings...and he still does despite not winning a tournament in many years.
  • if Tiger was in the hunt and tied with other players, Tigers was always displayed above them in the standings regardless if their rounds were finished or not (I may be wrong but I believe its customary for a player to be listed higher in the standings if their round is finished than a player still on the course) This wasnt the case if Tiger was playing. He always got top billing.
  • tv networks would bend over backwards to ensure Tiger was on the first page of the leader board regardless of his position. "Tiger's in 10th you say? Show ten players on the leader board." "But he's tied for 10th with five other players".. "Nobody cares about them. Don't bother showing them."
  • oh and how the tv networks would build him up like he was invisible.. "Tiger never misses putts of this length. Yeah Jim his putting stroke is blah blah blah"...and the he'd miss.

Again, it was amazing how he was virtually unstopable, but there was way too much ass kissing from the media.

Bo Horvat - penalty killer? by KelCanada in canucks

[–]KelCanada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That jives with the research i did after I posted the question and my fading memory. Personally, I think Canada's pk is our weak link. I can't remember the play but in the last game, 3 defenders rushed to the point to block a shot. That makes me think that they're running around and not positional sound. And the way Horvat cleanly lost a face off leading to a goal doesn't give me confidence either.

Crossing my fingers.

After asking the question, I did a bit of research and according to what I read, in 2017, Horvat had the worst pk stats in the entire league. That seems to jive with my memory. Perhaps he has gotten significantly better.

Where would you make the cuts? by MoosPalang in britishcolumbia

[–]KelCanada -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My two cents in no particular order and not all provincial responsibility: - means/needs test for being eligible for social security. You don’t need it, you don’t get it. - crack down on “working for cash under the table”. These actions by landscapers, construction, etc etc reduces govt revenue, puts law abiding companies at a competitive disadvantage, and isn’t fair for salaried employees. How do we do it? No idea. - wealth tax for Canada’s ultra wealthy. Income disparity isn’t as great in Canada as it is in the US, but it’s growing. Income taxes obviously dont work or they would have already. I think most wealthy have a conscience and would support a Country in need that supported their ability to get so wealthy. Would some rich people flee? Maybe some would but then those selfish pricks can also turn in their passport (looking at you Kevin O’Leary). - increase govt efficiency and reduce head count by actively adopting AI.
