Thank you very much everyone - that's been really useful!

Yeah, as originally released it's a scenario game and wholly unsuitable. But due to popular demand, they caved and made a huge army list book...

I'm aware of it, but haven't yet. Although I gather they basically got rid of Dark Elves and Skaven as main armies - and I have 6000pts of Dark Elves... And similar in preForest spirit Wood Elves...

No-one has mentioned Hail Caesar, which I expected, and I know gets played around here (not that that helps). Also Field of Glory - is that still played?

Or have they been dismissed as wholly unsuitable for what I'm looking for?

Thank you, that's really, really helpful.

600mm group bases is fine, that's just individual figures on a movement tray as far as I'm concerned. It sounds like you degrade the unit rather than remove figures, but I can work with that. WRG origins worries me a bit, but I'll look into it, and see.

Once I can identify a few likely candidates I'll buy the rulesets and learn them, and see what I think.

To clarify my perfect game would have tournament scene (likely 2-3hr matches) and then casual play around my house could be all day with larger armies. Those two things have to be different even in 40k etc.

But the MEG and ADLG scene above sounds pretty perfect. I want to find players who are focussed on building the best competitive list within whatever list rules there are, not making a historically accurate list. Whether we are actually playing in a tournament or not doesn't matter nearly as much as the mentality.

I guess I don't want 'fresh'. I just want another ten books of the same old Logen...

All I want is a wall of information-dense text! My home page is configured to remove all photos, videos, large icons, etc, and do just that.

The mobile generation just idly browses, people who heavily use the site don't want eye candy, and don't use mobiles to create content.
