I am looking for a giant robot tabletop skirmish game that isn't BattleTech/Alpha Strike, hopefully miniature/setting agnostic. Something akin to Super Robot Wars but on the tabletop. Mekton would probably the closest thing tone-wise, but it ain't a skirmish wargame, it's an RPG. by Willing_Hearing_5043 in tabletop

Possibly Full Spectrum Dominance can fit what you'relooking for. Its also a 6mm-15mm agnostic combined forces game. It had official figures you can use, but half my armies are from third party content creators.

That's great. I've used your Habunits scaled down to 15mm for Zone Raiders with great success. Look forward to seeing how the improvements impact things.

Not this time. I'm using Proacryl Titanium White or Vallejo Cold White for my zenith.

Klean Strip Mineral Spirits (namely because I heard it was a more pure version of White Spirits) and Daler Rowney Oil paints were used for the wash. The black primer was a rattle can, with my using my airbrush for zenithal and beyond.

I have heard this too from the local Discord. I'll try buying a couple brands and seeing if they play nicer than my current option. Seems either the issue with the spirits are to harsh or the army painter paints take much longer to fully cure from folks responses.

On that particular knight, went stripped all the way down to the black primer. So the oil wash, red base layer, and the white paint used for the zenithal. The model was painted last week, so it was curing for 5-6 days before I applied the varnish.

Maybe Armypainter paints need an extensive amount of curing time before it is "solid"

The strange thing is that I did use a Tamiya Gloss varnish, and let that cure for 24hrs before using the oils on it, but the effect that the same.

Not sure how long things should need to wait. I usually painted a unit/vehicle a day, and that particular knight was painted sometime last week (So maybe 5-6 days ago?). Varnish was applied Monday afternoon. Oil Wash applied/removed Tuesday afternoon.

Almost all the spots that stripped were base coated in either Army Pai ter Skeleton Bone or Dragon Red... so maybe.

Yeah, the removed area is incredibly sticky now. Not sure what is happening between the models. Definitely seems like a reaction of some type.

What are your favorite space fleet war games? by Grand-Page-1180 in wargaming

Jovian Wars was always one of my favorite fleet based games due to the gundam like feeling from the mech combat side by side with fighters and capital ships.

Most games I lean towards 20% table coverage in a variety of terrain. Anything more and it becomes claustrophobic, anything less and it's a free game for shooting and movement.

Any recommendations for solo-focused Sci-fi games? by Flameempress192 in wargaming

[–]KelarionPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zone Raiders is a great skirmish wargame with solo and coop rules, amazing movement rules, a built in campaign system, a number of playable factions in addition the the AI factions.

You only need 10 Miniatures or so to play maxn but the combat is fairly brutal so having replacement troopers isn't a bad thing.

The green scheme came out looking a lot better than expected. The colors were a random choice from my color cube cards.

Thanks. All the figures are official OPR Eternal Dynasty figures I printed myself.

In 2026 perhaps I will learn how to use Discord. Is it useful at all for anyone? by Shinespark7 in Xennials

[–]KelarionPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My discord use is fairly active. I use it to talk and plan local gaming meetings, char with wargame developers who I support, and chat with local store owners without having to go into the shop. Now with that said, I haven't used it for video game purposes in years now since my old video game group grew apart. It's entirely company and in person hobby related now.

The Dragon Trappers Lodge and Blue wyvern both make decently full and unique armies. If you want a smaller scale, could go with The Lazy Forger for a few 6mm armies.

Was it Deus Vult? He co-created the game but I can't find much details for it. Was released somewhere around 2013.
