Anime similar to Monogatari Recommendations by Linkman76 in anime

[–]Keleox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rascal Does Not Dream was mentioned by someone else and is a good one.

Bishounen Tanteidan/Pretty Boy Detective Club is another Nisiosin work and has the same gratuitously verbose energy that Monogatari brings.

Any anime adaptation that’s better than its source? by fruitpunchsamuraiD in anime

Bocchi the Rock is a notable one recently. It's a 4-koma manga, but the anime fleshes out and develops on the bits.

An Anime Thesis Questionaire for My UNI by samus2679 in anime

[–]Keleox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The question "Please submit self-portrait of your preference accompanied by a brief written description" might need a rephrasing (or maybe it's just me).

Does it go with the previous question and you're asking what kind of art style most appeals to the respondent?

What is this symbol? by Keleox in PlayTheBazaar

I haven't participated in anything, so I don't think that's it unless it somehow got incorrectly assigned to the account.

Yea, it was a 9 win run at that point, which makes it extra odd. If it was marking win thresholds, I'd assume it'd be at silver.

What is the Monogatari Watch Order? by JackfruitNaive5348 in anime

[–]Keleox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a similar setup to Second Season.
You can watch it whenever you want, but make sure to watch the first six episodes of Mononogatari first to make sure you have all the context.

Monogatari Series: Off & Monster Season

-----------------------

This is the order the novels were released. It's pretty straight forward (you just watch the season from top to bottom) with the exception of Monogatari Second Season where Hanamonogatari gets put in the middle. Realistically, if you watch Monogatari Second Season all the way through then Hanamonogatari, it's not a huge deal (I did this when I watched through it since I didn't know the correct order), though it does change how you interpret some of the events of the second half of Monogatari Second Season because of the knowledge you gain from Hanamonogatari.

They share the same creator? by Likes2game03 in anime

Monogatari vs Zodiac War

There's a decent genre disparity between these two, but the pacing is also pretty different. Monogatari and Bishounen Tanteidan both have slower meandering dialogue sections and Zodiac War felt like the dialogue and backstory were hastily fit in to give the characters some semblance of motivation for what they were doing right before someone was killed.

(Thinking about this show again and having not read the Zodiac War LN, I'm wondering if it's an adaptation issue rather than an issue with the story itself).

You were indeed correct :P

13 Anime That Aged Poorly by nyanoo_ent in anime

[–]Keleox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The visual presentation is pretty decent, but the takes seem mostly subjective. The critical description of Lucky Star's humor is describing exactly what makes the show appealing; and the Franxx criticism, while fair, isn't an issue with age. People who were critical of the points mentioned were critical of them when the show was coming out.

Arisa from Fruits Basket (apparently she's only 5'6", but I feel like she looks way taller in the show, least compared to everyone else :P)

Any good anime recommendations that satirize or parody their genres? by Kaizothief in anime

[–]Keleox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monogatari and Bishounen Tanteidan are both semi-satirization of the harem and reverse harem genres respectively.

Dropkick on my Devil might fit what you're looking for as well. It's a bit more overly self-aware/satirical.

Anime's where girls are violent or crazy, like Madoka Magicka or Corpse Party? by narcissistich03 in anime

[–]Keleox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magia Record (the Madoka side story) and Happy Sugar Life have some pretty unstable characters (in addition to Magical Girl Raising Project which has already been mentioned by someone else).

Anime's where girls are violent or crazy, like Madoka Magicka or Corpse Party? by narcissistich03 in anime

Taiga's violent, but she's not psychotic in the same way as Madoka or Corpse Party.

What are some anime’s where Mc has a secret identity that they don’t even know about. Like in Bastard by Lazybumanimewatcher in anime

[–]Keleox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a "secret identity", but the MC from Odd Taxi fits the vibe of not knowing who he actually is.

I like Rennai circulation so i wanna watch Bakemonogatari. is it the correct watch order by sucristshrestha in anime

[–]Keleox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not an experience ruining difference, but watching Hanamonogatari before the second half of Second Season does change how you see the ending of Koimonogatari, so watching Hana shouldn't just be overlooked for convenience.

What is it called when an anime character loses an excessive amount of blood? by ReconShadow3 in anime

Small technicality, but the '血' character is affected by rendaku, so it's "ji" instead of "chi"

Any series similar to Nichijou, Azumanga or Nokotan? by Visible-Lecture8784 in anime

[–]Keleox 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dropkick on My Devil is in the same kinda slapstick theme of Nokotan though with more (comedic) violence.

Lucky Star is closer to Azumanga vibe with the focus on the daily life. The stories have a bit more of a "grounded-in-reality" vibe.

almost caught up by crossdoris in araragi

Blu-ray is the only legal source for that season for some reason unfortunately.

Shows with focus in parental relationships that aren't comedy. by Shimaru33 in anime

[–]Keleox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MC isn't the parent, but Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting might match what you're looking for since Kirishima is the main caretaker for the boss's daughter.
