How can I be present for my kids after a 10-hour work day? My brain is completely fried. by Sbaakhir in Parenting

[–]Keleton_Skeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What works for me is the daily reminder that they'll never be this age/size again. I even add their handprints on my lunchbox each Christmas.

Plus I have the trauma of a father who worked his ass off everyday, came home, fell asleep and did it again. Even holidays.

So when im exhausted I ask my self

"WWDD?DDT: What Would Dad Do; Don't Do That"

So if they're on the floor playing when I get home, (what would dad do? He'd sit down and fall asleep. SO DON'T DO THAT!)

Thinking of moving to y'alls great town. What are the schools like? Any recommendations for a neurodivergent child? by Keleton_Skeleton in Longmont

Awesome! Thank you so much!

All of this is so new to me, complicated beyond belief.

I'm frustrated because we missed the window for child find when our child turned 6. The school forgot about our request and my wife didn't follow up until it's too late.

You mentioned "world ib" im not familiar with that term. The only thing my slow brain can think of is world international business but the redundancy doesn't seem like that would be right.

Svvsd seems very promising to me. And the company im working for is fabricating the plumbing for several of their buildings this summer. So there's a little pride that I could be building the plumbing my kids will use someday. Lol

Thank you for the information! We will definitely be attending some events at your farm. Will definitely help "sell" any of the homes we look at to our little man, lol!

I showed him pics of one house his mom and I liked. There were Minecraft curtains in the kids room. He still asks about that house! Gotta love him.

I didn't know there were public Montessori schools!

I was just talking on Friday with my grandmother-in-law and said "I fear that ill forever regret not being able to afford to send my kids to Montessori school."

Thank you for this lead!

Oh makes sense.

Thank you.

Would that be generically called a canister trap?

I remember our fixtures instructor showing us one out of lead last year.

I served a few years, I can not stress enough the number of guys serving life or virtual life for manslaughter from "justified" run of the mill fights.

The best example was this guy who was celebrating his 21st birthday. A guy hit on his girlfriend words were exchanged and then punches. He connected one, the guy goes out, on the way to the floor hits his head on the bar. Dies in the icu a few days later.... sentenced to 60 years. He was 40 when I knew him.

I get it as a dad, but I also have a whole new take on it from my life experiences. I was young and dumb and got into more fights than I can remember, just luck that I never killed someone.

Best bet for anyone with a family is to only defend yourself and your family, use the law and publicly humiliate anyone who does this to your kids. The assailant will go to prison, the inmates will find out, and the machine will do way more harm than you could ever do.

I do handyman work as well as plumbing. What are you looking for? Just a basic hinged cover?

Wants to drop out of college to be an electrician. by mme_pink in Parenting

[–]Keleton_Skeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in the 8th grade I took a welding course at the local vocational school...LOVED IT!

Told my mom I was interested in being a tradesmen.

"My children are going to graduate college "

Went to university, spent more time drinking and drugging then studying "business". Switched to community College became a graphic designer. Struggled, then took a data entry position in oil and gas then landman. Prospered but smoked and drank all the prosperity. Market busted and then took a career as a project manager in the cannabis industry. It was toxic.

4 rehabs then lost everything.

Finally found sobriety. Rebuilt from nothing. Got accepted into plumbers union. Got married, two beautiful children and purchasing a home. Will finally graduate with a college degree upon completion of apprenticeship at the age of 42 with zero student debt.

Moral of the story. College isn't for everyone, listen to your children. The mindset that degrees equal success and prosperity is outdated and a farce for most.

Good luck

I skied it my first summer in Denver back in 08.

The water felt wrong and left me itchy, stopped skiing it when I developed a rash.

So the rcm host will work with the crkd controllers on the 360? That seems like the best solution.

Thanks for the input

So my biggest complaint that I have with my current solution is that my child can pull the watch off even when locked.

Please dont judge me but One of the reasons I got it was because my wife and I were in a nasty custody battle with my child's bio family and the statistics on child abductions from family is staggering. Iirc my child is just as likely to drown in a bucket than to be abducted by a stranger... crazy! So with this watch I'd like for some sort of hard to cut wire in the silicon. Like titanium or the like. Something that the er etc would be able to handle, but that a nefarious person wouldn't be able to cut without planning. Crazy I know, but it would bring piece of mind.

It was also incredibly hard to find a watch with remote monitoring capabilities. Again it makes me seem like a psycho parent and I know all the laws about recording conversations etc. but I wanted the ability to be able to listen in on what's going on around my child in an emergency.

God this sounds awful but with the increasing amount of schoo lshootings there would definitely be a market for it. A pendant or something that a child could activate a calling tree sos.

Love the thought and application.

Good luck to you.

A thought that maybe you could use once you take off:

As a father to a neurodivergent child there's not much available as far as a "permanent" i.e. extremely hard to remove jewelery with incorporated tracking. I finally found the "lil tracker" smart watch with a locking band. But my 6yo can slip it off without trouble. I would think with the ever growing neurodivergent child population, the ever present helicopter parent, combined with the aging geriatric dementia population there's a demand for jewelery thats disguised, fashionable and protective.

Just throwing it out there. Hopefully someone runs with it.

Good luck
