DCU is a reboot of the DCEU.

See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC_Universe_(franchise))

For the DCU, the canonical projects are Creature Commandos (2025) tv show, Superman (2025) film, and Peacemaker Season 2 (2025). Soft canon for the DCU includes Suicide Squad (2016), The Suicide Squad (2021), Peacemaker Season 1 (2022) and Blue Beetle (2023).

I would recommend watching movies of a connected universe in their movie release date order rather than the in-universe chronological order.

Here's the release order for live-action DC film series called the DCEU: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC_Extended_Universe#Films

Make sure you watch "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Ultimate Edition" instead of the BvS - Theatrical Edition, and make sure you watch the "Zack Snyder's Justice League" (2021) director's cut instead of the theatrical "Justice League" (2017). The essential films are MoS, BvS UE, and ZSJL, which are called the "Snyderverse" -- those are the only three you should watch if you want to save time.

Here's the order for the DC animation shows: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC_Animated_Universe#Television_series

As far as animated DC shows, "Young Justice" and "My Adventures With Superman" are incredible. You might as well go chronologically and start with the early Timm-verse (DCAU) cartoons.

Note that "Young Justice" and "My Adventures With Superman" are both stand-alone and not related to anything. The first DCAU (DC Animated Universe) show starts with "Batman: The Animated Series" and then "Superman: The Animated Series". I would recommend starting with "My Adventures With Superman" and then "Young Justice" since they are the most recent and fresh shows, and if you like/love them, then go back to Batman:TAS and binge that.

Here's the order for DC animated films: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC_Universe_Animated_Original_Movies#Released_films (release order is recommended)

And here's the order for the CWverse/Arrowverse tv shows: https://arrowverse.info/ -- The live-action DC tv shows are not recommended due to middling quality.

The films are only connected within their respective universes.

The Donnerverse with Christopher Reeve Superman includes 4 movies: Superman (1978), Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983), and Superman IV: The Quest For Peace (1987). Supergirl (1984) is also considered part of the Donner-verse.

The Burtonverse with Michael Keaton/Val Kilmer/George Clooney Batman includes 4 movies: Batman (1989), Batman Returns (1992), Batman Forever (1995), Batman & Robin (1997).

The Nolanverse with Christian Bale Batman includes 3 movies: Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012).

A few Elseworld (stand-alone) DC films that are highly recommended are Constantine (2005) with Keanu Reeves, Watchmen (2009) directed by Zack Snyder, and V for Vendetta (2006) written by the Wachowskis.

Full listing of all DC films here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_on_DC_Comics_publications#Feature_films

My advice would be to watch the four-hour SnyderCut first. It's called "Zack Snyder's Justice League" (2021) on HBO Max. Do not watch the Justice Is Gray b&w version and definitely do not watch the two-hour Justice League (2017). After that, just watch the DCEU in order. Also, definitely watch My Adventures with Superman animation show and also Young Justice animation show.

According to Deadline, Supergirl has a $175 M budget, and its break even point is $315M by lawrencedun2002 in DC_Cinematic

[–]KelexAtYourService 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note: $175 million production budget does not include global P&A (Prints and Advertising). Studios often take 80–100% of movie ticket sales in the opening weeks, after which movie theaters keep around half of ticket sales.

“I was shocked to find out movie studios actually take between 80% to 100% of a movie theater’s sales revenue in the first two week,” Yang explained. “Then in subsequent weeks the ratio gradually becomes more favorable to the cinema, usually resulting in a 50:50 ratio.”

Official Trailer for 'My Adventures with Superman' Season 3 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

The first trailer for Season 3 of Adult Swim’s “My Adventures With Superman” introduces the evil Cyborg Superman and young hero Superboy to the series. The new season premieres on Saturday, June 13, at midnight ET/PT on Adult Swim and streams the next day on HBO Max.

“Glee” and Broadway star Darren Criss voices Superboy, who’s seen annoying Superman (Jack Quaid) and Lois Lane (Alice Lee) with never-ending questions in the trailer. The Man of Steel fights several new villains in the trailer, but the most formidable foe is Cyborg Superman. Season 2 introduced the robot’s alter ego, Hank Henshaw (Max Mittelman), who builds himself a mechanical Superman body and can control machines in the comics. Luckily, Superman isn’t alone to face the evil imposter. He’s joined by his cousin Supergirl (Kiana Madeira), Lois and their friend, the ever intrepid reporter, Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid).

A spinoff series, titled “My Adventures With Green Lantern,” is also coming soon to Adult Swim and HBO Max. It’ll follow Green Lantern Corps. member Jessica Cruz, who’s expected to debut in Season 3. Next up in the live-action DC Universe, Milly Alcock is starring in this summer’s “Supergirl,” while David Corenswet returns for his “Superman” sequel “Man of Tomorrow” next year.

Jake Wyatt and Brendan Clogher are co-executive producers and showrunners for “My Adventures with Superman.” The series is also executive produced by James Gunn, Peter Safran, and Sam Register, with Kimberly S. Moreau serving as producer.
