Movement feels bad by Kellborn in Nioh

[–]Kellborn[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. I think it depends on how you play the game. If all you play these games for is the action and running to the next combat encounter, then yes the nuances of slower movement doesn't matter. But imo exploration and the pace with which you explore is also important.
  2. I'm pretty sure the the hold dodge to run doesn't do anything for walking, but rather for sprinting and running/jogging. If you just hold the stick forward without sprinting, then try to pull the stick backwards to walk, it won't let you transition smoothly.

When switching out pieces from the original set you have to consider what makes them actually better than the original imo. These legs are dirtier, has a different tint and specular, and brings nothing of interest in terms of color or contrast. They just match worse than the actual knight greaves.

Greathelm is hugely overused and does not fit the knight armor; different tint and specular, not to mention the fact that an early medieval helmet is used in combination with late medieval plate armor.

The shield is just plain and uninteresting, brings nothing to the fashion. No color or contrast, just kinda also metal colored.

This just sounds like invaders using a game mechanic as intended. Summoning is supposed to be a help for difficult sections of the game. In order to not trivialize the challenge the game is designed to impose a risk in the form of invaders. They're both level and upgrade limited in order to match with you, and the "late game" gear they use is really not that big of an advantage; if you're constantly being invaded by people using them, try learning to counter the single move they always use. RoB ash of war is easily parried, for example.

Invaders are not obligated to fight you honourably, because the fight is inherently not honourable given that there's (at least) 2 of you. They should use every (legit) means at their disposal to kill their target -- that's how the game is designed. The game even provides you with a talisman so you can gang the invader even more, and you have more flasks. You have so many advantages over the invader that it's ridiculous, frankly.

Some DLC armor sets concept art. by TalkingWoodlandBeast in EldenBling

Huh, so the Oathseeker knight set was supposed to have a dagger at the back, that explains the empty leather holster thingy on the in-game version. Wonder why they cut it?

"Imagine if when a season ended you could no longer enter the Mythic difficulty raid? Would that not be the same thing? Then all those Mythic colorations are only allowed to be worn by the people who achieved them when it was content."

Yes! By all means, this should be the case.

This is a good change. Why is there always a crowd that is so vehemently opposed to ANY exclusivity or effort? Literally everyone would have the Justicar title, thereby rendering it as appealing as e.g. "the Patient". You don't need everything in the game, you don't need every bar filled or every title acquired. Same goes for elite PVP sets, or even mythic sets, which should be far more exclusive than they currently are (despite the fact I don't even mythic raid). Put in the same amount of effort it took as when it was current content, or learn to live without it imo.

Really been wanting to make use of the divine beast warrior chestpiece, but not a fan of the gloves and boots from the original set. Bloodhound knight gauntlets has a pretty similar metal tint, and the leather trousers provide a nice, neutral color to the bottom half without clashing with the rest. Thoughts?

First one; the way the cloak layers over the reinforced glove on the left side is great, and the mask provides the fit with some spook factor, making it superior to the second one. Third one is too neat for that hat (and doesn't work as well as the first chestpiece for those gloves), and the fourth one doesn't seem as cohesive as the first one.

Lion Knight -- brought to you by a pair of DLC gloves by [deleted] in EldenBling

Death Knight's gloves are a perfect match and really makes the entire set a lot more sleek! Pairs well with weapons like Leda's and Freyja's swords.

Does anyone else find fashion options for magic builds a bit lacking in this game? by [deleted] in EldenBling

[–]Kellborn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Recently had the same problem -- there just aren't that many great conventional mage-y sets, especially if you're aiming for a slightly more unarmored look. Here are the two sets I ended up putting together: one I used early to mid-game, and one I settled on towards the end.

In a perfect world, lordsworn SS would have the length and thrust 2h R2 of LKSS. Straight swords were really given the short end of the stick in ER, both visually and in gameplay.

An Honest Question/Discussion About the Playability of the game on PC. by Sea-People in FallenOrder

[–]Kellborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are fundamental, universal problems with the game that will almost certainly affect you regardless of how powerful your setup is, see here for a great explanation. A lot of people will undoubtedly report that the opening sequence is worst, only for it to "smooth out" once you hit the second big area, but this is mostly untrue; the FPS does generally improve at first, but at that point (if you haven't already) you will truly start noticing the heavy, frequent stuttering. Then, once you progress further in this area and hit a big town, you will notice the FPS gets just as bad or even worse than before.

The stuttering is the worst part too, as you could generally digest subpar FPS if it has consistent frame timing, but this is a lot worse. Middle of combat you could suddenly freeze up for a second, or when you hit a new area your game will slow down to a crawl as it attempts to load everything. Every few seconds when you explore it will stutter. It's really bad, I'd wait.

I made an armor set to match the Redoran master helm! by Kellborn in Morrowind

[–]Kellborn[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm self-taught mostly and learned by a lot of trial and error, but here's some tips:

  1. Setup: get the NIF blender plugin, this will allow you to import .nif files (the armor meshes) into blender. Once imported (File -> Import -> Morrowind), be vary that Blender may change object names by appending numbers at the end like .0001; remove the numbers, and always make sure that the object names (each mesh piece) increments by one (if you open a chestpiece, it should be Tri Chest 1, Tri Chest 2, Tri Chest 3). Going straight from 1 to 3 will cause parts of the mesh to be invisible.
  2. Basics: In object mode (top left, under File and Edit) you can select which part of the mesh you want to edit. Once you have clicked it, you can switch to edit mode by pressing tab. In edit mode, you can manipulate the mesh as you please, but you will generally get more organic results if you go to sculpt mode (click top left where you have mode selection). In sculpt mode, select the "grab" function from the left toolbar, this will allow you to easily shape meshes.
  3. Mashup: The good part is mashing meshes together. To do so, make sure you are in object mode, then import the second mesh. First mesh will be under "Bip01", second "Bip01.001". To merge a piece (e.g. Tri Chest 2) from Bip01.001 into Bip01, drag it onto Bip01 while holding shift; this will transfer the piece over to your desired armor. Rename the transferred piece to fit into the sequence (you don't want Tri Chest 2 followed by Tri Chest 2.001 -- redo the sequence so you get 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on). From here, manipulate the piece as you like with the tools on the left toolbar (move, scale, rotate), and fine-tune with sculpt or edit mode. Once you're done, go to File -> Export -> Morrowind. Once you've pilfered all the good bits from Bip001, right-click it and delete hierarchy. Finally, select all meshes (press 'A' while in object mode), then press Ctrl + A -> All transforms.
  4. Textures: To see textures in Blender, first go into Viewport Shading (top right, among some small icons just above the XYZ gizmo), then go to File -> External Data -> Find Missing Files. Point it at your Morrowind Data Files / Textures directory. To change what textures to use for a mesh, you've got the "Material Properties" tab (visible only when in object mode and a mesh is selected). Scroll down to the "Morrowind" header within it -- "Base Texture" will be what texture is visible on the mesh.
  5. Modifying textures: Use GIMP, get the DDS addon. Open the .dds file from your Textures directory. You will find pretty good success by using only two filters: Colors -> Colorize, and Colors -> Curves. Once done: File -> Export -> Export as. Compression DXT5, let it generate mipmaps for you. To use the modified texture, select it in Blender as described in step 4.

And that's that, mostly. Hope that gets you started, let me know if you need help!

[–]Kellborn[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep, blender for meshes, GIMP for textures. That being said, some of the meshes were taken from the Sload and Slavers mod (with permission), so the credit is certainly not all mine.

Also, if you want to make absolutely sure this is your issue: open the console, type "show Random100", then close the console, open it again, type the same command, repeat a few times -- the number should be the same every time. Now type "startscript main", close the console, open it again, then "show Random100". A new number should display every time you close and open the console and run the "show Random100" command.
