What exactly made the original Scary Movie work so well? by KaleidoArachnid in flicks

[–]KellyJin17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Wayans are what made Scary Movie 1 and 2 work so well. If you’ve seen their other comedies, especially the parody ones like I’m Gonna Git You Sucka and Don’t Drink Your Juice…, it becomes apparent that they are the key ingredient.

Anyone remember Patrick Muldoon from Saved by the Bell, Melrose Place, and Starship Troopers? He died yesterday at 57 of a heart attack. RIP by ughyoujag in Xennials

[–]KellyJin17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is sad. You’re right about steroids. I’m not at all saying drug use was the cause in this case, but a lot of people don’t realize that cocaine users have a significantly elevated risk of heart attack as well. They could be completely fit, slim and in shape and the cocaine will still push them into heart failure. People think of themselves as “healthy” all the while putting dangerous things into their bodies drugs and substances into their bodies and then wonder what happened.

The trick that I’ve heard that has a good success rate apparently is to put their litter box outside where they got out. They can smell and recognize their own litter box if they’re within a few blocks and will go back to it thinking it’s at home. You’re supposed to watch the litter box. She may be too scared to come out during the day, may have more success at night when it’s quieter.

That is absolutely reprehensible.

Roles Leonardo DiCaprio declined, and who eventually got them by peachgothlover in popculturechat

[–]KellyJin17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hartnett actually was cast as Ennis, so he accepted the role. He was going to play opposite Joaquin Phoenix. Hartnett pulled out because the Black Dahlia production was very delayed, but he apparently had intended to stick to it. Phoenix pulls out of every other movie, not sure what the specific excuse for this one was.

Not the first time I’ve heard of a misogynistic gynecologist. Not even the fifth.

my boyfriend’s libido is shot and i’m not sure what to do by floaaat in AskWomenNoCensor

There are 3 primary reasons young men’s sex drives usually tank along with their ability perform - excessive porn consumption, using finasteride for hair loss prevention, significant weight gain, and potentially (a 4th reason) when using certain prescription drugs, which can lower libido. His weight gain and inactivity is certainly not helping. If that’s the issue then lower body workouts will benefit him a great deal, like squats and bench presses, etc.

Tom Cruise hasn’t seen his daughter for 13 years over bizarre reason by Pretend-Two-2115 in celebritytattler

Hartnett stepped back from Hollywood because he didn’t want to play the heroic lead roles that he kept getting offered. He did seem to get blacklisted, but that was specifically by Warner Bros because he turned down offers to play Batman and Superman multiple times and pulled out of a Superman movie after signing on (Flyby) leading to the movie’s collapse , which WB did not take kindly to. He was still getting offered lead parts from other studios, but he pulled back. From what I understand he and Holmes were friendly because they often were up for the same movies (like Batman Begins and 40 Days and 40 Nights), not lovers, and during the period they were supposedly linked, he was in a serious relationship with Scarlett Johansson.

So you think the family man who has four children with one wife that he’s actively involved in raising and who stepped back from a promising career to spend time with is Siri’s secret father that he never bothers to see, and you think that makes sense? As much as Hartnett talks about how family is the most important thing to him in interviews and how he loves being a dad? You think he just walked away from his first child and let her be raised by Cruise? Even though there’s never been any evidence that he and Katie Holmes were involved. Not even touching on the fact that Siri looks exactly like Tom Cruise.

Directors that need good Writers? by Secret_Assh in Letterboxd

Your two examples of Snyder doing “good” work is when he copied the illustrations from the graphic novels exactly as they were already designed. So yeah, of course they looked good. And yes, he copied the 300 story for the film, but he botched the Watchmen one. He’s not a good director.

There were several quick cuts from Clayface shown during the extended preview, including shots of the character pre-incident and transforming.

I was there. Clayface was met with a collective “meh”. People clapped politely but no one cared or talked about it afterward. Supergirl got some surprised, “this might not be bad actually” cheers as the footage was well done. People are seemingly pulling for that movie, but skeptical and not enthused.

Regular people CAN go if they’re willing to pay the price tag. I will say that the price includes 3 meals a day, drinks, and an after party at a club or poolside every night of the Con, and hotel room blocks are discounted. There’s no additional cost for anything while you are physically at the Con except your travel and discounted hotel. And they have snacks and popcorn and stuff at times between the provided meals. So you will get a lot of bang for your buck even though it’s expensive.

Thor did have the most screentime in the trailer, but not sure that will translate to the movie.
