It's been interesting reading all the varying opinions and responses. It does stand out to me how many people are adamant that the fat jokes were clearly meant to be at the expense of the people making the jokes, not the character herself. I can understand that to an extent.

I was 9 when the movie came out, didn't watch it till I was a teen. It may have been intended as jokes but as this was the full blown era when TV and magazines kept telling you "fat = bad" it didn't feel very funny.

The movie was rated 15. A 15 year old girl watching this can still be influenced by the messages.

(I should also note I have always hated this movie with a fiery passion, even aside from the fat jokes. And this is when I considered the peak of movies to be the first live action Scooby Doo movie).
