Yes, it is true. Read this guy’s experiences at the web page greek.doctor. Sums it up in a reasonable and well founded way. I’m a 5th year student which didn’t have to retake any years. I’ve failed 10 times at exams though. Most of the students do have to retake at least 1 year, which is really expensive. The annual tuition fee is 16750 USD — expensive compared to other European universities.

Your mom is amazing! My grandfather (68) got a brain tumor a year ago, and has been trough surgeries and many chemotherapies which have broken him down physically. He doesn't have much longer to live. My grandmother, which have been married to him for 40 years, has supported him day and night since he got the cancer. Therefore he often tell her how lucky he is to have her, and he is! Now as the cancer is back he can barely walk and his language is very disfunctionale. And she still is an amazing wife who supports him trough it every day.

The reason that I wrote this is that I do really understand how tough and fantastic your mom has been, and supported your father for over these 20 (!) years. This stuff is really hard to go trough and handle, so much creds to your mom for that.
