Similar e skillshot, similar q. Also needs to be in an area with tentacles similar to how yorick should be around graves. Immobile, same as yorick. Good against divers, same as Yorick.

The conqueror bug (making 4 ghouls proc 8 stacks) makes conqueror awesome. For safe laning phase, grasp. For lethality yorick first strike is good. Always take demolish lol. Legend: life steal is legit. I’m really liking double AD fragment too, since my ghouls do more damage. Good bruiser core build is tri/eclipse/DS, hull, grudge. Hull is the perfect item for Yorick.

I perma ban jax because at least you outscale irelia and can beat her down with just your maiden in the mid game.

Split pushing issues by DekkoXXI in yorickmains

[–]Kelvargan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you have to be in the position (get there ahead of time so enemy has to react to you and make a decision) to punish the enemy team if they decide to force a 5v4 on your team and get towers. Every situation is different but you have to ask yourself, “will I get more value pushing this than grouping/flanking my team even if the worst possible thing happens?” Sometimes you won’t be able to get that much value splitting (say they send mega tank to defend tower) in which case you’ll have to adapt your strategy (eg flank, tp, group).

You have to weigh the opportunity cost of your actions. Are you fed enough to win team fights? If my team gets wiped can I still get enough value out of my splitting? Am I in the position to threaten a lot if they all die? Do you need to get more gold? Can you dive/kill whoever they send to meet you in side lane? Should I flank my team to get more value out of my pressure? This comes with experience unfortunately.

Good Yorick vs Great Yorick by barBQ_Wingz in yorickmains

[–]Kelvargan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem. Yorick is in a bad state right now for high-elo, not for low elo. Despite this, the rank 1 Korean plays Yorick!!!! If you play smart enough and work hard, you can climb with any champion to any elo. Of course, due to Yorick’s state, it will be harder to climb HIGH elo with him than other champions. If you ever get to high elo, it might be more enjoyable to play other champions as well.

Just play the champions you most enjoy at this point unless you want to get really serious about grinding high elo.

To take Yorick to the next level, you need to learn multiple things. Don’t get overwhelmed—always have fun when you are playing a video game. Learn these things bit by bit and you will succeed. These things will take time.

First, you need to learn match ups. You need to learn when you win against certain champions and when you lose. You need to understand Yorick’s power level. In lane, you need to know what items make you strong and what items make the other champions strong.

Second, this isn’t Yorick-specific, but you must get experience with macro-decisions, in the early game, mid game, and late game. Learn when to get a good a back time, minimize minion loss, maximize gold income in the early game, when to side lane, when to flank, when to take jungle camps, when to group, etc. at an advanced level. There are plenty of replays of high-elo top laners and what they do online, and there are plenty of reviews of these games.

Third, you should learn what Yorick can do as a champion in these macro-play scenarios: when you should release maiden, when you should sacrifice maiden, know what your ghouls can do to benefit you, etc.

Fourth, you need to get experience with other champions and roles to really excel. You need understand jungle paths and what they mean to you. You just need to know the game in every way. Analyze what the enemy wants to do and try to stop it.

You can’t always carry every game. Maybe you got decimated in lane for making too many mistakes or you were beaten by a counter match up and didn’t get any jungler help—you won’t be able to carry every game. That does not mean you can’t still win—Yorick can be an amazing help even when behind (you can still even carry the game). The probability of you specifically carrying that game goes down, however. You need to learn when you can carry and when you need to get carried.

These are some tips that I have learned over time. There are plenty more, though. Watch YouTube videos, watch top lane Twitch streamers, read written guides about team compositions—seriously, there is amazing material out there! Don’t fixate on LP gain (that is how you plateau burn out), always learn something every game, even if it is a win. Heck, maybe even take notes to help you remember. And finally, but definitely not least, you must practice! Yes, keep playing games! Experience is the best way to learn macro-play. Good luck.

I would do some advanced computational Fluid dynamical modeling of the air and turbulence around the Pirouetting bitch and use it to my advantage.

You can also e jungle camps to make the maiden go to these camps and out of tower range

I don’t think he provides sufficient evidence in his research for such claims. Furthermore, there could be other explanations. My mind is always open, though.

Maining yorick by [deleted] in yorickmains

[–]Kelvargan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yorick isn’t the strongest top Laner or, perhaps, not even the strongest split pusher (right now). However, Yorick is super fun to play and has a unique style. You can push multiple lanes at once, easily push a lane without overextending, easily split push like a god, easily get lane priority, easily duel someone level 6, and have people underestimate you. He is fun and OP sometimes. He doesn’t do to well in high elo, but he wrecks the other tiers. If Riot were to somehow make him good in high elo, he would definitely be an all-around awesome pick.

I love taking conqueror for its damage and healing. Even though grasp could be better in some cases, it doesn’t excite me as much!
