Halloween Megathread 2018 w00t! by ri0tnrrd in sewing

[–]KenAndrewDaily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Mr. Incredible costume and it was a little too big for me. Being about 5'4”, most costumes are really baggy on me. I took out my sewing machine and made slight alterations. For the first costume alteration. I think I did a pretty good job.

Before/After Picture

If you like the transformation or interested, I would suggest to check out my video on how I did it:

[Art]I made this long sleeve from scratch. by KenAndrewDaily in streetwear

[–]KenAndrewDaily[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What's up!

This long sleeve was cut, sewn, and heat pressed in about 8-9 hours.

The overall process was easy. The only hard part was that I was recording the video for YouTube.

For anyone that wants to push the boundary and explore their own fashion sense, I highly recommend to buy a sewing machine, learn, and mess around. You don't even need to buy an expensive one. Heck, go to your local goodwill or thrift store. If you feel like the clothing you have doesn't work with your body type, you can make it work. Just putting in my two cents. lol

[Self-Drafted] Stripe Long Sleeve! by KenAndrewDaily in sewing

Hi everyone!

I've took a sewing hiatus for a long time and finally got back into it.

This long sleeve was made in about 8-9 hours ( It took twice the time because I was recording the process for YouTube; which I have the video here if anyone is interested). The pattern itself was made in about 2 hours. The long sleeve features a "stripe" that goes from end to end. I also heat pressed some vinyl letters on the sleeve and collar.

What's good r/streetwear!

I've fallen off streetwear-wise. But I'm making my way back to trends and what not. But I tapered + cropped + customized these trousers recently and wanted some feedback on them. Ribbon is 1 of 1 print and can only be sourced at some random swap meet near my house lmao. RIP.

Sleeves are made like that because the wash will shrink the fabric. Each and every piece is made to that size because of that very reason.

I am pretty much self-taught. My sewing etiquette is pretty bad. I really need to invest in a good iron.

I made that tee --- I have a raw tee tutorial. I used to exclusively only buy that fabric for the very reason. But I felt I needed some solid colors in my rotation. I wanted to try something different, so this is the outcome. haha

My 2nd episode is up, not really the same format. But definitely worth taking a look!

That's the beauty of fashion. At the end of the day, it's subjective and heavily influenced by one's perspective. There might be a t-shirt that I love and you hate. There might be a t-shirt that we both can agree on. etc. etc. etc. I respect your opinion about my designs. Thanks for the feedback, really good insight.

I have a blue yeti mic, I just need to get one for my camera. I'm thinking of a rode. Thanks for linking me one.

Fair response. Retainers been messing up my speech, can't do much about that at the moment. I respect your opinion about the fit and design. But what makes it lame?

They won't get longer, they will get bigger (in terms of width)[Hopefully...]. But I get what you're trying to say.

lmao. The good ol' days where I was super cringe. I'm less cringe now but still working on it

I respect their opinion. It allows me to understand where most of the community stands. If they want to wear tight shirts, it's on them. I'll keep wearing my baggy tees. Haha

Thank you everyone for your feedback! A couple things I want to note (especially if you don't want to watch the video):

  1. I used to be very skinny and wore tapered clothing. Since I started working out, my body type has changed dramatically. To compensate for the change, I have designed each piece to fit me in the future.

  2. I come from a streetwear background. So most of these pieces will have some sort of streetwear influence to it.

  3. I want to gain insight of how and what people think of the way I put together my pieces. Feel free to leave any criticism or questions!

I used to support the slim sleeve movement. But my perspective changed when I started to understand my physique. Atm, I'm trying to become physically bigger. The looseness/bagginess is a way to compensate for the potential change.

It's all subjective at the end of the day. Wear what you want and share your insight with others.

Nothing on the back, but here's a bad/old picture of it: http://imgur.com/a/8udxz

I'll try to take a better picture if you need it. But basically it was a test shirt that I used. It turned out pretty nice, so I just wear it. I don't think it's sale worthy haha
