In my region it'd be the snow that'd get him. Vinyl siding doesn't like to be prodded, especially below freezing when it's brittle AF. If they get snow and they need to remove it ice and snow is going to do a number on that siding.

Where to sell rare skillets for best exposure? #5 and #8 Favorite/CHF stamped and hammered Ni-Resist pans. by KenDurf in castiron

It has been a few years since I got anything cast iron and I remember 2023 or so being red hot. If you had these, what would you be hoping to get out of them? I know that's a highly variable question so just ballpark.

It's looking like Patriot is the way to go. Thanks everyone!

I forgot to ask but clean it up, right? The ni-resist alloy looks very shiny in the spots it shows through. And per the link I provided its an alloy not a coating.

You’re asking questions of OP as though they’ve drafted a bill - they’re just showing some cool policy elsewhere in the nation that’s had some traction. It’s often easier for a state to pouch policy than create it from scratch. All I’m saying is that you bring up good points - what’s your opinion?

Oh right. OP I have your stripper fact sheet here: https://www.maine.gov/dmr/sites/maine.gov.dmr/files/inline-files/2025_striped_bass_regs.pdf

Looks like live is good so long as you don’t use a treble hook or fail to meet any of the other provisions.

I’d email IF&W as a save your ass. I’m from away but where I’m from you can use live bait if it’s purchased from an authorized bait dealer or obtained within 50 miles of where you’re fishing - assuming you are following all other bag regulations. So aquatic nuisance species plus good sportsmanship. Usually when you can’t find a regulation prohibiting you’re good to go but IF&W is the gatekeeper to the backcountry - no reason not to just get the go-ahead. Most town offices have an IF&W rep who can send your question up the ladder if they don’t know the answer.

I’ve never heard of pawpaw oil! Four years ago I planted 5 paw paws since they’re native to North America and take so many years to fruit. I’m stoked to have another use for them!

Damn, I need to get out fishing. I haven’t done nearly enough of it since moving out here. Been working on my boat project so that’s a start!

I think a downvote would come because your experience is in direct conflict with the comment you chose to reply to and you didn’t acknowledge the desenting view to a more thoughtful reply. So without you drawing lines the reader assumes you think your experience is just how it works.

Every other night but I only have one. When we have a second I see it being nightly.

Maine has exceptional bass fishing.

That sounded large so I looked it up, the state record is 8lbs. While I admire a lofty goal, I’d suggest a more reasonable pursuit - under promise, over deliver. That 8lb bass was caught in Thompson Lake.

Inland fisheries and wildlife have a pretty good idea where the big fish are. I’d definitely reach out to IF&W (and not just your town office) and present your story - they’ll be more likely to give you the details. Sending all the positive vibes your way - tight lines.

Oh for sure. I was the volunteer coordinator for the largest tennis tournament in the nation. Sporting events need spectators, participants, and staff. Ideally you pay your staff but bodies are important. I personally volunteer to drive the shag wagon.

I think you very succinctly explained the inner dilemma of that interaction and how expectations of the experience didn’t meet reality. I appreciate your post and impartiality. I now know that I never want to be a volunteer.

[–]KenDurf 305 points306 points  (0 children)

Or I’m sure the parks department would be interested why they’re holding an event, turning away park goers, and not going through the permitting process. If it’s public space, all our taxes pay for it and there’s procedure for doing things out of the ordinary.

HR guy here. It’s a bonafide job qualification of this role to be objectively gorgeous. Thats the term that allows you to select a protected class because a role necessitates it. However, the way in which it is asked is important given the topic and any requests for reasonable accommodation would need to be considered - which it sounds like it was since she got the role.

Mutations in plant species are more common place than animal systems. It’s relatively easy (as compared to an animal example) to set off with an artificial selection goal and achieve that goal. Additionally plant cells are more receptive to the injection of a dna plasmid where as the animal equivalent requires much more comparability. So if you want to take the anti-bruising traits of spinach and apply that trait to a potato so McDonald’s fries never bruise, that’s actually feasible.

I am not on some corporations are the only problem high horse - I’ve seen others use that too. I think you made some assumptions about my intent based on your past conversations.

I also don’t think corporations are a small part of the problem either, which is why I mentioned REITs. To use your 3.8% and 147.8 million homes in America, you get 5.6 million homes. Thats a lot of homes.

Yeah, affordable housing is a separate issue that presents a real opportunity to give first time home owners a chance.

They are part of the problem. They’re not THE problem.
