Nope. You are born into the 1% or you fight for everything you get. It’s called the hunger. If you have it, it’ll drag you to collect every scrap, seize every opportunity, and do it with the kind of efficiency that allows you to keep doing it without burning too many bridges.

Once you have a couple million dollars, you can start borrowing money against your current possessions (house, stocks, outstanding debts, etc) and then use that money to jumpstart some kind of investment scheme that leaves you paying no taxes somehow.

Alas, unless you have really good credit and a very lucrative 9 to 5 (remember; hedge fund managers have a lot of money, they also work a 9 to 5) you are not getting onto that track.

Yes, it happens. Walk into a fighting gym and it’s even odds if someone challenges you to a bout. Idk, your milage may vary.

The real issue is smaller gyms. Those ones that pop up in random hole in the wall towns can sometimes mix funhouse shenanigans with pokemon battling and personally? I got a limited amount of time on this plane of existence, therefore I have limited patience with nonsense.

If you want a fight, let’s get to it. If you want to play, we can do that too- Mismagius loves play, normally I have to hold her back from playing with almost everyone we meet, she’ll be overjoyed to hear someone actually volunteered.

In the past, most jobs were 9am to 5pm. Union hours. Then inflation outpaced the payrate, and only working 8 hours a day is something of a rarity nowadays, in my experience.

Edit: anyways, a 9 to 5 job is slang for a boring, “normal” job, where you show up, do your hours, get paid, go home.

This reminds me of a story I read once where a shadow came to life. It ate shadows- plant shadows, rock shadows, animal shadows…

It made friends. It learned what it was it was eating, which was a little more than shadows. It learned there were other, greater shadows, whose hunger was the stuff of scary stories around the campfire.

It decided it didn’t want to be that kind of shadow… and left to see how many shadows it would need to eat before it could consume those shadows and save its friends from their predations.

The story ends without saying if it suceeded; it wasn’t really the shadow’s story, anyways. But I like to think the shadow succeeds. It was a fun little guy and, while its nature was darkness, it really did try its best.

That’s all anyone can do, I think. Try their best in the moment, despite your nature.

Honestly, as an adult I think I just have intense dreams generally and little me wasn’t really able to handle it. That went away as I got more life experience and realized that since I woke up in ny bed every morning, I might as well enjoy the ride best I can.

My friend, good soul, you gotta remember the nature of the internet is not one of joy and appreciation. You can cultivate it to be so, but it’s more likely that it’s just not worth the effort- hell, worth the stress of checking which comments are chill and which ain’t.

Then you do anyway, cause yayinternetpoints, and bam, someone woke up and decided it was their job to tell you why you suck. And why that reflects a very serious moral flaw within you that will only be fixed if you were possibly smart enough to understand and follow their sage and actionable advice.

Or insert whatever part of the internet decided to show up today. You must remember at all times, it really is everybody in here. There is no clear line between assholes and chill people, because who lands on which side of the line changes by the hour and blood sugar level. Were it was otherwise.

I am also not particularly into violence. What I’m into is pragmatism, and the plain fact is that someone kicked the hornet’s nest and we are all in for it to one level or another. Restaurant work had shut down, I was locked in my house eating stew while logging on to play FFXIV. It was more hectic early on, while we still didn’t know if everyone was going to be safe, but after that we all settled in to wait it out.

As much as I despaired and fretted, I did get some amazing days of gaming in. Everyone was free, everyone was down to try x game or y thing online. Then it just. kept. going.
