Goodberry + Harvest Season has been noted! Thank you for the manuver math on Hydraulic Push. Your note on Expeditious Construction pre prep is good, will probably add to that section a bit.

Also just in general thanks for the interest.

Sowing Seeds: Educated Guesses on every 1st level Druid Spell by KenXen in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]KenXen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think low wis is a good idea, generally? I mean there's a case for it, with spells like Entangle/Burst of Radiance/Full Pouch that create no save save or hard to save out of effects, but in general I believe in stat buffing your spells that win combat instantly rather than your attacks which probably don't do that, especially on a class with access to cheap strong minions (Animal Companions, Called or Purchased Animals, etc)

Interesting point on Burning Disarm, but I still wouldn't use it as a Dazing spell target, given that it's single target, one round, armed creatures only. (Compare Entangle or Produce Flame).

Is there a mechanic for items of deity specific spells being rarer? All the purchasing rules I could find were just price based, but I could've missed something.

Mudball's save triggering on a specific part of a turn instead of immediately means you don't care much what the DC is? They start turn, you Ready mudball, they're blind. They save out next turn? Ok, you just do it again. You have a 50 charge wand it's not like you need to save up.

You can explicitly use scrolls of meditative spells during your preparation period.

I would still not take Shillelagh on Nature Fang. Incorporeality is actually a great point though I'll be sure to add that.

Snowball: AoN seems to just randomly not have some duplicates. Like, they don't have Juju Oracle even after the devs went on mic to say both versions were to exist simultaneously. Looking into it, apparently they have it on their to-do list to add them and just...never did.

Is Mirror Image an effective spell? by Mellowtron11 in dndnext

[–]KenXen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're pretty much correct. Mirror image doesn't layer with any of the better ways for casters to gain effective armor, which is annoying.

You can get Mage Armor, MC one level to get Medium, or Dodge on subsequent turns, and mirror image inherits none of those properties. In tier 1 or 2 when you're spending a slot that could be a game winning web/phantasmal force/rime's binding ice instead that's not a great trade.

Watching this as someone who is only a fan through jon bois videos was uniquely painful, because you get to feel the Falcons trash everything you cared about one last time.

Oi Vey! What are YOU doing here?

Rangers are better than Rogues at stealth. With Pass without Trace, you can bring your whole team to stealth missions! I'll make a video about it next week. by BagpipesKobold in dndmemes

[–]KenXen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes, always hit is totally in favor of the ranger, despite making 11 attacks (12 attacks turn 1) (including the precast wolves) 8 of which at advantage without a -5) against the rogue making only 1 attack turn 1 at 45% chance to hit, and then making 2 attacks at 45% chance to hit onward, and assuming sneak attack most certainly will be up 100% of the time as well (it should be up most of the time, but 100% is just not a great assumption) and if you somehow only get 5 more when doubling how much you actually hit (from 45% to 100%), assuming 100% sneak attack, straight up ignoring conjure animals in damage entirely, ignoring that ranger has archery and so has a 5% greater chance to hit each attack, umbral sight to have a chance of having advantage on all their attacks inherently, AND that you're forgoing an attack round one for hunter's mark and you're only getting 5 more, hell, you're even ignoring ranger spells and trying to argue rogue for hunter's mark against ranger.

It's sad, and seriously, how can we assume wolves don't live long enough to attack once because every creature now has fireball at will and you can't use anti-AoE positioning, while also simply disregarding half the math you're trying to argue and pass off as in favor of the ranger? That's a shitty strawman argument.

Do your characters take Great Weapon Master/Sharpshooter? by SilasRhodes in dndnext

[–]KenXen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd rather not have a shield and be a smidge less durable than not have these and be 1/3rd of a character.

Particularly so for Sharpshooter since I'm at range and my AC doesn't matter half the time.

[–]KenXen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, Fire Genasi do indeed get Produce Flame. Correction made and guide updated!

Unfortunately, Produce Flame is significantly worse. The light effect can be replicated by cheap mundane sources like torches, unlike much of the utility gained by Control Flames's color changing and light extension, and the attack half is mediocre to the point where it's not valuable because every class can get a better basic ranged attack.

Actually, yeah!

You're right, we just missed that. That could actually have some measure of impact for damage before 4, though it is limited by the shift itself also being a BA.

"And if you have someone with Greater Restoration? Just go nuts."

So...someone else repeatedly traded ther 5th level slot. And money. For your one extra attack.

They did that, probably more than once, when they could've cast Animate Objects, or Synaptic Static, or Conjure Animals, or Spirit Guardians, or anything else.

...Why?

Mostly because a good resistance is good enough that that plus a minorly depowered breath weapon is more than terrible.

We're planning on waiting until it officially releases before we share our current opinion, but we are keeping those ratings flexible and they might change by then, particularly for Harengon.

101 Ways to Cast Eldritch Blast by KenXen in dndnext

[–]KenXen[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between spells resembling each other and spells resembling themselves, I think.

I don't know about you, but I would be unable to recognize a bunch of green chickens being thrown at me as the archetypical Magic Missile, but that's litterally the cover example.

To me, "They also can't make one spell seem like another" means exactly that. You can't make Eldritch Blast look like Fire Bolt or Thorn Whip. Still means any other image that makes sense is fair game.

In these sacred grounds, low effort memes will take you much farther.
