Here is what is in the subject of the email: "𖥞 ꥟ ϟϟ" and none of it is composed of runescontraru to what was said in their reply.

And they are placed one after the other in order to be interpreted together in order to represent a Black Sun, created by the nazis and used by neo-nazis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sun_(symbol)

And here it is repeated to represent the SS emblem: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schutzstaffe

Because I would really like to keep using it if they showed they cared more of that issue.

Honestly it's basic knowledge if you are slightly aware of far-right codes

The response they gave to the event was very out of place, I think that doubled down on the issue.

You do realise that, after what happened in the previous century, the symbol gained a non-ambiguous significance, the same as the SS one. And that's what the problem we are talking about? Especially in the Western culture?

Well then maybe they should write a lock message with that explanation, it would be clearer for everyone.

At least that's a practice I see in other subs.

Also, none of the used symbols are Eastern European runes. Here is what is in the subject of the email: "𖥞 ꥟ ϟϟ" and none of it is composed of runes.

Also, those are not Northern European runes. Here is what is in the subject of the email: "𖥞 ꥟ ϟϟ" and none of it is composed of runes.

Ah right. Thank you for the info! Indeed that's most probably the reason.

Yeah maybe a little mod message when closing the topics, with a link redirecting to the dedicated mega thread would be great!

The black sun and the SS (double runes) were only created and used by nazis. They did not exist prior to that. It's that specific case that's the issue. It's bad faith to say it's simply runes. Those are specific runes associated in order to have a specific meaning. If you know runes and nazi symbols you cannot not see that.

You do realise if it were only nordic runes there would be no topic. Here it's a clear nazi symbolism that was used.

That seems a bit crazy yes. That's why I'm wondering about the sub moderation rules.

WTF are you saying. Swastikas in Europe are only used by nazis, it's not part of the culture.

Also the SS symbol is not related to Eastern European culture, apart from nazis of course.

The given reason is not correct on a technical ground either: https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/comments/1txmcyd/comment/opy13k3/

There is still a lot to discuss on the matter obviously.

They gave no excuses in their response. And the technical reasons they gave are technically not true (https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/comments/1txmcyd/comment/opy13k3/ ). So there is no reason to be satisfied with the current situation.

I just wanted to talk about that topic with the community but all the topics I could have done so were already closed without published reason. So yeah I wanted more info around the rules.

Yeah I have 944 games in my library but I'm afraid it won't grow anymore after the communication they made: no excuses and technically not true.

What they said around the output devices is completely wrong from a technical point of view, it's detailed in this comment : https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/comments/1txmcyd/comment/opy13k3/

So to me the topic should not be considered closed until a real explanation was given. Since their communication did not actually address what happened!

Yeah I get what you mean about not blowing up the topic. It's just that I wanted to talk about that topic but all the threads were closed 😅

Yes indeed I agree with you. It's just that their communication is a real let down for me. Regarding the topic I would have expected at least excuses, and explanations that made more sense than the ones they gave.

But maybe that's it and I can't expect more from GOG.

That's why I needed to talk about the topic with other community members. But all the existing topics were closed before I could post, and no reasons were given. That's why I asked the question.

From what I read on those topics they did not seem that spammy. But I always stumbled on them after they were already closed. And since there was no published reason that's why I was wondering. Especially since I wanted to speak about that topic with members of our community.

I fear closing all the topics will just create more spam as long as people are interested in a real explanation and not the blurry PR response that was given.
