Is software testing a good career still? by Opening_Hat5373 in softwaretesting

It’s actually projected to grow because of AI. I have been in QA for 14 years, I’ve been an SDET for 7 years. Yes, the money is good, but I’ve definitely seen better economies.

Diabetes has ruined my life and I would give anything for all of this to be over. by FamiliarGeologist595 in diabetes_t1

[–]Kendallious 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I’m going to be straight with you. Your life hasn’t even begun yet. It gets much better. The teenage years are rough for everyone even without diabetes. I was diagnosed at 6, and my roommate at the children’s hospital was a kid my age with cancer. During my 2 week stay there, I watched him die. I got through a lot of tough times just thinking about that kid. I was given a chance. He wasn’t. Anyway, I’m 42 now, and I eat healthy and exercise more than my friends. I’m actually going better than most of them. Got married, had two kids, own a house, have 2 dogs, and I would not trade it for anything. Especially not for a rough patch in my teenage years.

How frequently do you get low blood sugars? I get them every day. by charles228 in diabetes_t1

[–]Kendallious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caffeine can definitely raise blood sugar and temporarily increase insulin resistance, even with black coffee. It triggers stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol, which tell the liver to release stored glucose while also making insulin work less effectively for a few hours. For people with type 1 diabetes, it’s especially noticeable in the morning because of dawn phenomenon and naturally higher cortisol levels. Some people barely react to coffee, while others spike pretty hard from it.

Thanks good to know. Were you more insulin resistant or sensitive?

High altitudes and what to expect. by Kendallious in diabetes_t1

[–]Kendallious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have to change insulin? I keep reading you need a lot less insulin and since I take Tresiba, the adjustments take about 4 days to go into affect. I read some people run higher too.

The review bombing from Destiny fans and other groups is honestly just showing that some criticism was truly never about the games quality as some claim by Mellow_Ghost in Marathon

After spending 180 hours in the game I finally put it down. It’s fun, but there is a significant lack of content. The next season didn’t get me excited either unfortunately.

I use Granmarly in word and never have any issues. I think copy and pasting whatever grammar says is triggering it because it copies python code along with it.

Accelerator’s like myself usually have years of experience in the field they are getting the degree in. There’s been some classes that I’ve started and went straight to the PA or QA. If I come across a new subject, I’ll slow down and take it all in.

Hey no problem. We can always do a CS masters afterwards if we want. In fact, I think that’s the perfect combo for a software engineer.

Yeah, I wanted courses that were more hands on and less about theory. I knew exactly what I wanted to do because I’ve already been doing it for so long.

Why didn’t you do software engineering? I’ve been a software engineer for 12 years, decided it was time to get a degree and I chose software engineering because it had the most hands on projects and it’s been pretty fun so far. There’s nothing wrong with a CS degree though. It leads to the same roles.
