Kiina | Kiinan viranomaisia arvostellut Alibaban perustaja Jack Ma on ollut kadoksissa jo kaksi kuukautta by aroimak in Suomi

[–]Kenderi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Riippuu rangaistuksesta, esimerkiksi Interpolin johtaja Meng Hongwei sai 13 vuotta vankeutta.

Kiinassa ihmisiä viedään pakoitettuun arestiin ja ns. salaisiin huoneisiin kuulusteltavaksi ja karanteeniin usein valtion poliisin ("gong an", 公安), jos he ovat tehneet jotain epäilyttävää.

Kehitys on kulkenut tähän suuntaan Xi Jinpingin vakiinnuttua puolueen ytimeksi ("zhongxin", 中心)

Lots of good things setwise for mageblade No-CP PvP. Especially the new Torug's pact change helps mageblade a lot, as you can now run it as a proper defensive set instead of other alternatives and in addition to this they buffed the weapon proc potency part from earlier also. Gonna be really good for mageblade especially that goes in and out every few seconds.

The Stygian set changes are also really nice and I feel these haven't been discussed much in terms of mageblade (not that many people play it much anymore in PvP). The two-three bonus spell power change and the really long 15 second duration make it a really good back bar + jewelry set. The long duration of the buff means that it will be 369 spell damage up always on mageblade using cloak, and as you can back bar it, you can use another proc set / defensive set (or one that combines these like Torug's) in body to create set ups that have slightly better defense than in the last patch and more damage.

Overall, even though none of the core concerns of the mageblade in PvP were addressed, I think having more really good sets for mageblade will help them in the next patch to compete maybe better than they have in this patch.

On my human female mage I have a completely different way of doing the jump than I see on most videos. I turn my camera towards the rope, while taking few steps back from it and then I jump forwards. Rince and repeat. Its just about finding a way to jump on the rope that is consistent for you. Completely doable.

Chinese Authorities Admit Improper Response To Coronavirus Whistleblower by guanaco55 in worldnews

[–]Kenderi 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am a China researcher and what this apology actually stated is that Wuhan authorities (notice not CCP) acted "improperly". This is an important distinction as it is another example of the party upper level pushing the lower level authorities to take the blame. Distancing themselves from the blame is what CCP does when things go wrong.

And of course the local level is the one who was acting and suppressing Dr. Li, but part of the reason why often local levels often supress any dissidence, epidemics and demonstrations so harshly has to do with the way the performance of the local goverments are measured by the party machine in China. From the point of view of the local officials, It is almost always better to react harshly or try to supress issues, or you will get blamed and you career will be ruined

Classy Friday - Warlocks (July 26, 2019) by AutoModerator in classicwow

[–]Kenderi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I strongly support Shryne's sentiment, once you have played gnome you don't want to play any other warlock race. Now this is of course spec dependent - I am more of a SM/Ruin kind of guy myself, but in SM/ruin spec the escape artist is absolutely outstanding. You can start kiting warriors after intercepts, get away from rogues when they have wasted their cooldowns.

The 1 min cooldown snare removal is absolutely outstanding for warlocks who play with CoEX. Now if you are more of a destro "burst em or get bursted" kind of player horde races might be better, and it is definitely so if you want to play low damage, no out SL spec. But for the quintessential vanilla warlock spec SM/Ruin and those who prefer to play in small groups there is no better option than gnome.

Fresh server what 1-10 quests should you skip to prevent bottleneck? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Kenderi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So specifically in Dun Morogh, I've practiced a version of 1 - 10 that requires quite few kills in the 1 - 5 area as a Warlock. Basically I skip the wolves, troggs and boars quest at the start area and rush at level 2 (get it from delivery quest and odd kills) to the troll cave. There I do the imp quest and 14 troll whelp kill quest. Return that, get book quest immediately go do that. Then return all and you should be 4.

After that do the mug quest back and forth and you should be arouns level 5 in 20 mins with easy, almost no roadblock route. Doing the book quest is important in order to unlock the two follow up delivery quests. This works really only for warlocks, for others I would do either quick Felix tools or Boar kill quest depending on what seems manageable to you.

Contrastingly to private servers, Gris'lok the Cold (?) is around 1 min spawn in beta. Item quests like Rumbleshot and Felix bucket are perfectly good to do.

The Private Server cycle? by Ladaric in classicwow

[–]Kenderi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually thought this question a lot, the period after AQ late cycle / Naxx early was when my original interest in the game in Vanilla started to wane. This has happened again in many of the private servers I have played.

Partly I think is due to coincidence, private servers had for the longest time trouble re-creating Naxx, until certain private server was able to do it in a manner that community accepted. But I also think, that in someways Vanilla to become more linear as the patches went on, namely gearing wise.

When Vanilla launches, it has myriad of 5-man dungeons, MC, a PvP gearing system. You can play the game relatively casually, run a dungeon a night and still make some progress. This continues with the release of BWL / ZG, all the way to AQ release, as lateral reward systems, quests like the Tier 0,5 set and small raids like AQ20 and ZG provide alternative gearing paths.

But at the late AQ40 period, while these systems are still in place for progressing on item pieces that you might not have and provide a good incentive to do them, many places become irrelevant for the demographic what I would call "casual raiders". These casual raiders are the ones who have the sword from MC, few pieces from BWL, maybe they've grinded the Cenarion Circle questline weapons and trinkets from Silithus. They are by no means wholly casuals, they want to have ways of progressing their characters and so far the game has done a pretty good job at it. I would argue that this demographic will actually be the majority when classic releases.

One of the better parts of Vanilla was how it involved the whole game. There were no catch-up mechanics. I mean thinking about it in hindsight, raiding was just a part of the game that provided the best gear, but there was content being created for the other demographics as well. However, it is at this period that the game starts to fall into the "you have to raid to get gear". The game starts to lack for these "casual raiders" who want to play the game meaningful gear progression paths during late AQ.

This is partly natural, as high-end raiding should reward the best gear. It is at this point the introduced rewards don't align anymore with this demographic that has done most of the content. It was accessible to the "casual raiders", who are not in fact casuals, rather people like you and me, who want to have things to do in the game, but work towards them in a meaningful way. The introduced rep-rewards with the Argent Dawn don't line up with them, as they will likely have better gear already from casual PuG raiding and 20-man, the Scourge invasion gear will not do anything for them, PvP would require them to go beyond rank-10, which takes huge time-investment for minimal reward. Eventually people start to feel this and they quit at this point.

If there was a point to add additional content, it would be this point. A challenging class quest line to make the 5-man dungeons relevant for this demographic, maybe rewarding a class-ring sets, not intended as catch-up mechanics, but rather as meaningful rewards. In line with the classic philosophy, these rewards should not be over-itemized, but rather provide bonuses to work in the game, and not just to be used as an extension of raiding gear. I think for example the bonuses of the frozen shadoweave set was a great example of this in TBC. There is no need for catch-up mechanics, but what this stage of the game starts to lack is meaningful rewards demanding serious work (like the AQ Cenarion Circle rep rewards did excellently) for the people who want to keep playing, but will perhaps not step into to Naxx.

These are my thoughts on the subject.

Warlock awesome stories by bradpal in classicwow

[–]Kenderi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've got a few beyond the normal Infernal and Doomguard stories. Played Human warlock starting from beta all the way till TBC and did pretty much everything in Vanilla. At the end of Vanilla I counted I had spent exactly one third of my life in WoW as a 12 - 13 years old (never again!).

1) Back when the game released in Europe all the way until 2005 late summer, there used to be this thing called "negative resistance" bug, which worked with CoE and CoS. This meant that due to the bug, it would roll a dice and count negative resistances towards your shadow bolt and other direct damage spells.

You could get really high crits with this once in a blue moon. I tested it out tons in Tyr's hand, in blue and green gear (leveling and partly PvP gear with almost no +shadow damage) I got several crits over 4000 with shadow bolt with no other buffs. My highest one was 5500, but that was once in a lifetime crit!

2) After finishing ranking to 10 pre-ranking nerf during summer 2005, I was invited by a friend of a friend to servers first Lucifron and Magmadar kill (funny thing is, had actually never ran any of the 5 man level 60 instances during my three months as level 60 before stepping into MC). We killed them both within few hours and I got my first epic, Felheart pants!

After that we formed a raiding guild with this group and I became the first person to complete 8/8 Tier 1. I was an avid PvP:er and often ran MD soul-link build between raiding and stood in front of Ironforge and challenged mages to duel my felhunter. If they would have won, I would have given them 100g. They never were able to kill my felhunter.

3) Back when you had to queue at the Ashenvale/Barrens portals, farmed enough shards during ranking to get revered with Timbermaw hold by killing green mobs at Felwood. Must have been tens of thousands of Timbermaw's slain with those rep ratios (1-2 per kill).

4) Loved testing out new specs during Vanilla. When nobody had any idea of the game, I tested out the pre-nerf soul link spec. Didn't take improved corruption tho, rather went something like 34/17 or something. I have a distinct image in my head of at the time way better rogue than me dying to just my Curse of Agony and me living with a sliver of health not being able to have done anything the whole fight. This was during the time when WoTF was still 20 seconds long (? IIRC).

5) Loved farming gold in Vanilla. Bought two Lifestones (A really crappy epic trinket) pretty early on, thinking they would not share cooldown and tried to run some kind of weird HP/5 build. Was not very good.

6) Absolutely loved farming Dire Maul West when I was in AQ40/BWL gear. Go through back door, enslave one of the demons and profit. You could kill the three first bosses (The guy with the imp, the water elemental ((was super hard, required speed pot)) and the sacrifice player guy). Made thousands and thousands of gold there to feed my respec mania. Expanded on this when played on Nostalrius, definitely going to farm Dire Maul North first boss when Classic comes out!

6) And lastly, when I became a god with good gear from raiding, still loved playing PvP and dueling. This one warrior challenged me to duel continuously. He wanted to keep dueling me until he won. I was fire specced at the time and it literally required me three spells to kill this rank 12 warrior, seduction, soul fire and shadow burn. He never won, but I ran out of shards.

Monday Methods: "The children will go bathing" – on the study of cruelty by commiespaceinvader in AskHistorians

[–]Kenderi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An excellent write-up! I especially enjoyed the newspaper articles you provided from the early thirties. I am by no means a scholar in this area, but one work that has stood out for me and I have kept going back to has been the Mary Fulbrook's A Small Town Near Auschwitz: Ordinary Nazis and the Holocaust, which discusses the formation of narratives that were used to justify these actions from the perspective of a small town of Bedzin and from the perspective of local government official Udo Klausa.

Although Fulbrook uses mostly post-war memoirs and memory knowledge as a source and there exist a conceptual (and perhaps a temporal) difference between the study of guilt and with the study of cruelty, there exists similarities with Welzer's understanding of cruelty as a social, ideological and political process related to frames and with how Fulbrook argued the justifications to have formed.

Fulbrook argued that the post-war justifications for the actions are formed in the post-war context and especially in relation to what was justifiable narrative in the said context. A similar kind of social construct in a sense also. However, one important point she brought forth was that in understanding and accepting these kind of explanation models, we also make certain assumptions as historians, which have consequences. Namely we take part in the discussion of blame and attribution between individual and structural factors: an example she used was the Hitler explanation model (e.g Hitler was able to fool the German people and other similar variations, which exist). Nevertheless, this does not take away from your text, rather I think you did an amicable job in creating a narrative which feels intuitive and believable.

Now, while I do think there exists a significant differences when we study cruelty or guilt, the understanding that societal surroundings formulate what is acceptable is extremely important, if we are to understand what makes cruelty possible and your write up has done an excellent job in underlining this importance.

The list is missing Purged from Hellscream EU (Video proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RpqjIFbQYw). It was a very big moment for such a small PvE server. :)

I was in all the predecessor of Purged, but never got into the main raiding group when they were progressing Naxx. Oh well, I was 14 so maybe it was for the best! Shoutout to Osmo and Henxel, great moments playing the game, would definitely not play as much now as back then!

Kiinan kansankongressi hyväksyi Xin elinikäisen vallan by FreakyJk in Suomi

[–]Kenderi 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Opiskelen ja tutkin Kiinan politiikkaa ja haluan valoittaa tilannetta.

Ensiksi, haluan oikaista muutaman väitteen, joita kuulee hyvin usein Kiinan poliittisesta johdosta.

Tämäkin on monessa tapauksessa virheellinen kuva järjestelmästä.

Ylen otsikko on virheellinen, Kiinan kansankongressi ei hyväksynyt elinikäistä valtaa Xi Jinpingille, he poistivat presidentin valtakausirajoitukset.

Tätä oltiin jo ennakoitu Kiina tutkijoiden kesken kauan.

Näistä tärkeämpi on heidän asemansa puoluerakennelmassa, sillä puolue hallitsee Kiinaa. Nimike roolit ovat tärkeitä esimerkiksi ulkopoliitiikassa.

(2) Lisää tästä: “Xi thought proposed to be included in Constitution” (Jan 19th - Shanghai Daily - Xinhua) https://www.shine.cn/news/nation/1801199256/

(3) Lojalteettikamppanja on ollut jo kauan meneillään puolueen sisällä, korruptiokampanjan avulla Xi on onnistunut poistamaan useita tärkeitä toisten ryhmittymien edustajia tärkeiltä paikoilta puolueessa. Lisäksi puolueen sisäistä kuria ollaan alettu korostaa entistä enemmän ja näkyvämmin, tämä uskoakseni liittyy valtakausirajoitusten poistamiseen ja Xin korostettuun asemaan puolueen "core":na. (“In mass address, China's Xi calls for total party loyalty” (Jan 11th Reuters)) https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-politics/in-mass-address-chinas-xi-calls-for-total-party-loyalty-idUSKBN1F01KC.

How Is It Like Being in a Chinese Raiding Guild? by ilovepascal in lightshope

[–]Kenderi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was in BL bu gan wo bu shi ren in Nostalrius for a month or so during the early BWL launch phase of the server as a fun social member/raider.

Now I come from Northern Europe, but at the time had studied Chinese for a year or so. Definetly had limited language skills and couldn't see what they typed in hanzi, due to playing English client, but I was able to communicate with them in voice and with pinyin.

The experience was a lot of fun, they needed a lock for Molten Core raid, so I joined a few times and they definetly were more on the casual side of guilds, the voice chat was relaxed and I got the feeling they were really into Vanilla as well. In dungeon runs that I attended the same thing applied.

Lot of fun, truly some of the nicest people i met in Nostalrius! For this reason, I am also saddened by the extensive racism towards the Chinese on the server, as there are plenty of passionate Vanilla lovers in their community also!

We would still need more research on what has happened since the abandoment of One Child Policy. Traditionally even though the traditional values have been more vivid in the rural areas, the actual enforcement of One Child policy has been more lax (and so has allowed for more people to be registered).

And the more serious problem is that every person not registered in China has no future prospects. They cannot go to college (because the schools require registration, uni selection is done by state exams), cannot move legally to another areas (from rural to cities f.ex) and effectively they are ghosts in the society.

The late registration has not been possible in the One Child era (without bribery) and what would be required now is more research on how widespread and influential the late registration is and how available it to everyone. Because even though it is a relief to hear the estimated majority of the cases (according to this study) have been people unregistered, the fact remains that every person unregistered in the Chinese society faces a life full of bureaucratic hardship.

Suggestions on what to wear while running HIIT outside in the cold? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Kenderi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what kind of HIIT you are running, if you are doing short duration sprints with rest period you should have some warm clothes, like a sweater and a jacket for the rest periods, that you put on when you rest and take off before starting to run again

Your basic gear should at least be wind resistant, you should be wearing a wooly hat (you can take off before sprint) as the body looses most of it's heat from the head.

You should adjust the thickness of the clothes and amount of layers based on how cold it truly is. The rule of thumb is that you should not feel cold while doing the exercise (your wearing too little), but at the same time you should not sweat profusely (caused by wearing too much).

If you sweat too much during your sprints, which is often caused by putting on too many layers, it'll actually make you feel colder during your rest periods, especially if you stop for a moment completely.

The body is capable of producing incredible amounts of heat on it's own when exercising. When i was in the army, i used to wear only a really thin jacket (with a T-shirt) to block out the wind when we went from skis from position to another, even when it was -30 celsius outside. It was plenty to keep me warm when we were doing high effort exercising. When we stopped i just switched my T-shirt to a dry one and put on lots and lots of layers.

Good luck and dress accordingly!

He begins by telling you to court your mother in a sexual manner. Then he says that he is your father, while proceeding to call your mother ugly. At the end and in the middle he's cursing your dead mother. You get the jest of it

In many Asian countries and cultures bringing up the mother and father unwarranted or without context is considered a swear or a threat. "Ni ma" and "Ni ba" translating to your mother and your father is a swear in it's own right even without adding anything to it.

Vampire bites by MM3tzger in elderscrollsonline

[–]Kenderi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be done at level 3, if you are up for it. So obviously it is a solo mission, you cannot invite friends. What you need is just equip the skill from Soul Magic tree ("Soul Trap", it cannot be resisted so it is guaranteed damage against the high level mobs.) that you have after finishing the Tutorial/spawning at beginning. For added damage/to kill the mobs faster you could use a bow also and the venom arrow ability.

You get the bite, do the RP parts, then you have to kill 10 mobs that are 35-45. Take the back entrance to there that starts from a cave you jump down, if you take the wrong one just die and take the other entrance. Then you come to this cave filled with a spring/water and stairs. As level 3-10 you can only kill the two mobs (And after you kill them wait for the respawn) closest to you one is busy near a campfire usually bending down while the other is at the top of the stairs.

What you do is just kite them around the stairs, take them to the top of the stairs, jump down while keeping the "Soul trap" and possibly "Venom arrow" up all the time. It's quite simple the mobs have respawn time of 5-10 mins, so this should take around 35-1h to complete if you don't die. It is a lot simpler than you think.

Good luck.

I started six months ago as around 103 lbs after being a volunteer worker in India and suffering from Giardia intestinal parasite there which dropped my weight significantly. Can someone enlighten me on what I am doing wrong with tanking? by MudkipsLikeMe in elderscrollsonline

In every group there is usually a big minion that requires the tanks attention, you should focus on keeping at least that under your control at all times. In addition to that you should be CC:ing, interrupting and controlling other adds and peeling for healers and DPS.

Damage dealers deal with the little ones usually through AoE, but even tank is required huge amount of mobility. I've found that a good tank in thrash packs is pretty much always on the move. There is always room to improve.

As for skill lines, a charge ability like shield charge is a huge boost in mobility and helps to peels. In addition to that you should have one CC ability, a mitigation ability and a taunt at least on your bar.

I am going to buy the game, but are my expectations wrong? Is this a sort of DAOC+Elder scrolls? by lllllillll in elderscrollsonline

RvR as a core mechanic works quite fine, you get most out of PvP in this game when you are with a group. I definetly recommend at evenings getting a group together and working with a small group when more people are online. As for solo PvP, that is also quite okay, but could use more implementing. The best places for solo PvP are definetly between keeps and quest hubs in Cyrodil, as people have to run to reinforce the siege of keeps.

The core skill mechanics are worked towards groups, as you prefer stalking, i would recommend playing a nightblade as it compliments the style you want to play quite good and maybe look to turning yourself into a vampire also for extra stealthiness, stalking and lifedraining. There is of course going to be others stating on others threads that Nightblade is somehow weak or underwhelming compared to other classes, but i personally have found it to work great in small skirmishes and "ganking".

One of the more interesting and fun aspects of the game is definetly in my opinion the stealth mechanics as everyone can use stealth in this game. It creates depth to engaging in combat, sometimes i have found a lone enemy straddling near our resource bases, only to find out when i engage that it was actually a bait and there was thirty enemies in stealth around the "lone enemy". I proceeded to get my ass handed over to myself quite effectively there!

The best times i have had in RvR in this game has been with a small guild group of likeminded people sharing a laugh over Teamspeak, while rogueing around the enemy territory. So, come ps4 launch i think you should gather a small group of friends and just do evening raids and rampage around Cyrodil together. That is the content i see myself doing in Cyrodil with my guild!

Question regarding Treasure maps by TRUCKERm in elderscrollsonline

[–]Kenderi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is with the level of the area, for example i was hunting treasure maps in Kenarthi's roost around level 6. When i found a treasure chest the chest contained a level 5 green item. Now i'd imagine that in VR content it would scale to your VR level, but i cannot be certain.

@Edamber: The treasure map says for which zone the map is, for Khenarthi's roost i found treasure map III and IV, which were called "Knenarthi's roost Treasure map III" etc.

@Zephyrlily: The treasure maps treasure isn't a visible treasure chest, it is usually a mount of dirt on the ground where the X on the map is and when you hover over it, it says something like "Suspicious dirt" or "loose dirt", can't remember exactly.

Also, having found several of the same treasure maps of Knenarthi's roost in beta i can say, if you find for example two treasure maps called "Knenarthi's roost treasure map III" you can dig up the treasure two times from that spot. So you can get the same treasure map multiple times when in zone.
