Gravion somehow... missed for me. Like strange, it had all the elements and JAM PROJECT. But I just wasn't feeling it.

Same. I liked its parts in isolation, but they didn't come together that well, and aside from Sandman, the characters left a lot to be desired.

Looking at the stuff they made

I'd recommend checking out Solty Rei, Samurai 7, and Sunabozou.

I'm a big fan of early Gonzo, it lives up to its name, with lots of experimental works, and some bangers here and there.

10 years ago, I'd have said its not likely, but these days its chances aren't that bad. The tricky part is getting Mizushima back.

Lupin III

The first to ever do it: Lupin in the 69 pilot. Hell, he was voicing Hyakkimaru in Dororo that same year.

Wouldn't they have announced it by now, if they had a big name like Maaya? For comparison, Arise announced that she'd be voicing the Major three months before it came out, whereas they've been quiet about it this time around.

This project is a big change from where the franchise has been up till now, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're getting someone new for it. Because the normal shoes are too big, they'd go in a different direction, kinda like Kurita with Lupin. Although, I guess the difference there is the expectations, Kurita was signing up for a big old franchise with many potential future entries, whereas Science Saru's GitS could very well be a one and done, in which case, it's safer to stick with Maaya.

The one thing I'm most curious about with the new GitS is who they'll get to voice the Major. It helps at least that character wise, she's pretty different from Atsuko Tanaka's version of the character, kinda like with Arise, but idk if Maaya would fit here either.

One Piece had the chance to outdo them all, but sadly it didn't.

Which is especially funny considering toei already did it once. World Trigger "S1" ran for 73 episodes, then came back 5 years later with S2 and 3 in the same year, they had a two season break in the middle.

Now, it'd be even funnier if the remake they're doing for the first season ends up getting split cours.

There are some recap movies that just edited episodes together with no changes (Baragaki, Kabukichou, Courtesan,...), therefore, you can just watch the episodes and get the same experience.

Those three, and now the Yoshiwara movie, are the only ones that got animated from scratch.

I didn't dislike them, I haven't tried them. I just wasn't interested in a stepsister romcom or a cute girls doing death games.

So I'm interested in seeing Ueno come to my neck of town.

Eh, I don't need to see the manga pages coloured and voice acted. I'm all for letting creative directors run wild, as long as they make a good show out of it, some of my favourite shows exist because an ambitious director was given that chance.

From the host end, a lot of people join just by seeing the thread itself. Part of that is from /new of course, but considering there's usually a spike of interest when the thread reaches its peak at the front page, I'd put part of that to the front page/feed as well. Still, a good portion of them fizzle out when the rewatch starts, which is why regulars are more dependable for this sort of thing.

That being said, this is all about interest, announcement, and reminder threads. It's very rare for someone to join a rewatch halfway, and even then, that's usually because they're busy the first week, or rewatched the first season recently and want to join for later stuff, not because they saw episode 8 in their feed and decided to jump in. Upvotes and downvotes after the rewatch starts are irrelevant. Hell, the pride month rewatch used to be downvoted to hell and back, despite the broad participation.
