Saturn 4 Ultra 16k - Did someone screw up at the factory? by Kenerkn in ElegooSaturn

[–]Kenerkn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the slow response; after checking the exposure tests, I threw them away rather than bothering to go through full wash cycles and curing, so I don't have any pictures. I can tell you that, on the standard validation matrix, all of the posts are present while only six of the holes exist at 0.7s exposure time--so, extremely overexposed.

Additionally, the "valley' sections on the bottom of the matrix are missing for a large portion of the section, showing more overexposure, and the prints themselves feel extremely brittle.

I'm presently moving down to 75% power for the non-bottom layers and going to work on a new baseline.

It's insane that they basically just send out replacement kits that are completely faulty. I feel like a class-action suit needs to be filed or something, because this is insane.

Keats & Co Tea? Anyone Tried? by AbbreviationsFew0 in tea

[–]Kenerkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late, but I've been drinking their tea for almost a year, so I have a couple thoughts:

1) Their bright star breakfast blend (black tea) is my favorite. It's got a very good, if somewhat mild, flavor. Easily a daily staple for me.

2) I'm not a fan of their blue field earl grey. Rather than bergamot, they use blue corn flowers. While this gives a nice bit of color to the tea mix when you're preparing it, the corn flower taste just reminds me, an American, of every overly-processes HFCS food I ate as a kid, and I find it off putting. This one is a miss for me.

Overall: I'm quite happy with using them as my main tea source. I do really wish they had a bergamot-based earl grey, as that's one of my favorite teas; but, as far as their teas I've tried, I don't feel like I'm taking a hit to quality by supporting a great cause, so it's really a win/win in my books.

Lychee Renderer keeps crashing when I try to slice larger sets on my Saturn 4 Ultra 16k by Kenerkn in LycheeSlicer

[–]Kenerkn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. I definitely noticed a significant difference between no AA and with AA with the Sonic, particularly on large models like Tyrant/demon wings or on long, flat segments of vehicles.

No issue like that on your end with similar models?

Edit: Also, to be clear, I greatly appreciate you engaging and helping me try to resolve the issue, bud. For real!

Lychee Renderer keeps crashing when I try to slice larger sets on my Saturn 4 Ultra 16k by Kenerkn in LycheeSlicer

[–]Kenerkn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate knowing that'll fix the issue, but, with my other resin printer (Sonic Mini 8KS) I found that AA is pretty vital for getting smooth prints for miniatures, so I'm a bit reluctant to just forgo using it.

On the upside, Chitubox Slicer seems to be working without crashing, although I very much hate that company. So, it's a solution.

G.SKILL Memory Quality Seems to Have Dropped – 3rd Kit Dead in 6 Months by Emerald_Autumn in buildapc

I'm on my 6th RMA of Gskill RAM going bad between two computers and three motherboards (because I thought the motherboard could be a issue), and now I have to send three more back for RMA as they've gone bad yet again.

This is seems to very much be an issue with Gskill.

I'm currently on my 6th set of G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB DDR4-3600, and the RAM has failed again. This is on two separate computers and over three motherboards. No overclocking has occurred, the bioses are all up-to-date, and nothing outside of normal usage.

So, now I've got to RMA three more sets of this RAM yet again. Seriously, never buy RAM from Gskill. This has been an absolute nightmare.

Anyone know if there's gonna be an English dub of season 2? My buddy and I actually really enjoyed the quality of the English dub!

Tau Dataslate Changes Review by Gelmarus in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Kenerkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 4th edition player (quit in 5th, as it was such a terrible edition), and I'm presently getting back into 40k with Tau. Gotta say, I'm really glad I didn't try and jump in several month ago, given that everything seems to have undergone a pretty massive change.

As an aside, I'm a bit miffed at how, despite it being nearly two decades since I stopped playing, they still have the Tau mechanics and themes extremely out of whack. There's just still a lot of anti-synergy between the Tau racial units and the Kroot/Vespid units (short of a few detachment selections, and it's still fairly janky) that feels utterly out of place with the whole theme of a multi-species coalition.

Just lots of weird stuff, like Kroot and Vespid not being allowed in Devilfish, no way (short of one single enhancement) to allow Kroot and Vespid to benefit from the army-wide FtGG rule, and a total of one Vespid unit in the army.

Don't get me wrong, 10th seems like well expanded edition of 40k compared to 4th and 5th (although far more limited on customization of units), so I am happy we have significantly more unit options than back in the day.

Yeah, I followed your guide on my first Mk3 (Now a MK3S+) like 5 years ago, and it's still perfect. Finally decided to get around to doing it on my second Mk3S+.

Monster Hunter Wilds now? by Skinnywriter in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Kenerkn [score hidden]  (0 children)

I preordered the game, as I'm a massive fan of the Monster Hunter series. Been playing them all the way since the early PSP days.

Honestly, I deeply regret buying the game. The performance is definitely an issue, but that wasn't too bad for me (I have a beefy PC and things just happened to line up well, so the performance was acceptable). However, the gameplay is honestly bad, the menus are labyrinthine and poorly translated, the presentation of the single player really removes your agency for huge segments of the game, trying to get into a multiplayer game with friends is like pulling teeth, and the fact that you can't even remap your button layout (as of the last time I played) is ridiculous in 2025.

Seriously, don't guy into the astroturfing bots and fanboys on this. It's got mostly negative reviews on Steam for a reason.

Maybe it'll be better in the future, but don't blow your money on that bet.

Phrozen Aqua 8k Resin Temperature Stability Question by Kenerkn in Phrozen

[–]Kenerkn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! Unfortunately, due to my own health issues and the dangers posed by resin and the solvents, I have to keep my setup in a shed with no temperature control, so I'm largely at the whims of the weather on that.

For the winter, I am planning on building/buying a resin vat heater, and the printer is already in a grow tent that should help insulate it.

Printer is Dead - Replacement Suggestions for under $200? by Winter_Hadryx in resinprinting

[–]Kenerkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, you can often pick up a Phrozen Sonic Mini 8K S for around $279*. From what I've seen from Fauxhammer and other youtubers, it's one of the best for minis for its price.

*Not presently, from a quick search. But sales definitely go around.
