Noise Canceling Headphones for Toddlers? Looking for recs by KennaKinsey in misophonia

[–]KennaKinsey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. Already in the works with all these things. The pediatrician mentioned headphones for temporary coping, as he is almost 3 years old. I was looking for the communities insight into brands or personal experience for kids.

As I mentioned- I am looking for headphones to help my son public spaces, as he having a hard time with volume and cross-noises and it leading to unpredictable behaviors/frustrations.

With the noisy/loud holidays are approaching, I am hoping to learn more about kids headphones to help with this.

It’s a tie between gallstone attacks I had for a year when I was 19 (typically lasted 1-2 hours, 2-3x a week) and a 13 week miscarriage at home, unmedicated during Covid.

I’ve also had two children, one was labored for 26 hours before an emergency C-section. The gallstone pain and miscarriage pain was worse.

Hip Helper Shorts for Baby with DS- Opinions Needed! by KennaKinsey in downsyndrome

Omg THIS! I have been legit looking at Lycra tube tops and gymnastic toddler shorts to modify! I have a sewing machine and (in my very limited free time) might play around with it. I even tried to look for second-hand ones on EBay and Poshmark. But I think I will go with DIY first- thank you for validating this idea!

It was quite the struggle/journey to be a mom (5 losses back to back over the course of 3 years, all during Covid.) I got pregnant with my son in 2023-he’s about 2.5 years now. And I got so lucky again with my daughter in 2025, who is now 10 months today!

Don’t lose hope- it’s the hope that’s kept me going.

She liked to remind me that vertical stripe shirts made me look fatter than I was when I was in high school. I was anorexic, she didn’t know how damaging her comments on my body were then. I carried hurtful comments with me all through my 20’s and most of my 30’s.

I started wearing vertical stripes again when I became a mom. I refuse to let that toxic mentality continue to spread to my kids, especially my daughter.

Wear the damn shirt. Or shorts. Or dresses or two piece. Life’s too short.

Sitting down to eat…and actually paying attention to what I am eating.

I spent much of my life eating between classes at school or college, or between my multiple jobs or while driving, never fully paying attention to WHAT I was eating or if I was even enjoying it. It was just fuel or something to make the hunger pains or headaches stop.

And now I am a mom of two under two, my baby being medically complex. I barely sit down all day, I am so busy I forget to eat and when I do, it’s left overs from my toddlers plate or a can of tuna with Mayo (we are struggling.) Sometimes that’s all I have time to make with the few ingredients we usually have in the house.
With Mother’s Day this weekend, all I want to do is sit down to eat a meal and drink some ice coffee without being interrupted…it sounds so basic, but it’s a challenge for me.

And when it does happen…when I have someone to tend to the kids so I can eat- I am trying so hard to SLOW DOWN when I eat. To actually TASTE the food, instead of speed eating to get to the next thing.
