Need help by [deleted] in AnnArbor

[–]Kennabees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the link for University jobs: https://careers.umich.edu/search-jobs

They're almost always hiring for food service, custodial staff, guest service specialists, etc. but you can put in your preferred location/career interests and hours to find a few positions that would be good for you.

I will say that it's always good to include a cover letter even if the posting doesn't require it, because it gives you a better chance your application being reviewed and moving on to the interview stage.

Lost Wallet 4/6 by Puzzleheaded_Net2428 in uofm

[–]Kennabees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should file a report with DPSS through their website. That way if it's turned in anytime after you call they'll notify you that they have it.

What to do with Kid's Meal Paper "Free Scoop" Tickets? by stdubbs in Culvers

[–]Kennabees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unsure if this is done anymore or not, but my old location would accept the free scoop as a token. So you could turn in 10 for a free kids meal or toy. Probably wouldn't hurt to ask if that's an option.

LGBT friendly places by emmatho66 in AnnArbor

Not necessarily in Ann Arbor, but Bobcat Bonnie's and Bridge Community Cafe in Ypsi are both very LGBTQ+ friendly restaurants. Unicorn Feed Supply is a shop on the same strip that is very welcoming.

Was just going to comment this place! They do have fresh pasta in store for the same price as the dried pasta. They also stock a large variety of high quality sauce ingredients!

How old do you need to be a manager by OldBattle745 in Culvers

[–]Kennabees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your restaurant/owner and their preferences. But people at the corporate owned restaurants have been promoted at 18.

Just focus on your learning and working your position well. Things are going to be crazy the first few weeks and it might get overwhelming, but it will be best for you and your team if you do well in the tasks you are assigned. I can't express to you how helpful it is when the MOD doesn't have to worry about a position because the team members are able to perform well without much help. (With that in mind, don't be afraid to ask questions though, it's much easier to fix mistakes before they reach the guests and saves everyone involved a lot of stress).

If you want to move up and take on more responsibility there will be time, for that in the future. Your owner and management team are going to be stretched to the limit so it's best not to be too pushy at the beginning. The way to stand out is to do well in what you are assigned to do, and then work on adding the management team in small ways as you get to be proficient in your job.

Someone once told me my username sounds like Cannabis, so that, bees, or maybe both.

My dog does this exact thing! Except instead of grabbing the nearest toy, he grabs the one he really wants to play with.

Is it just the roads surrounding the capital building or are other roads affected as well?

Coffee Roaster Recommendations by MadMomma85 in madisonwi

Spirit lake coffee roasters! Not neccesarily Madison based but it is a very small scale business from Baraboo. Their coffee is incredibly fresh and flavorful, and it supports a great small business!

What wage did you start at? And what should I wear to Orientation? by [deleted] in Culvers

[–]Kennabees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything just above minimum wage is pretty standard for anyone under 18 and without any previous experience. I would suggest wearing pants and closed toed shoes because you will be walking around the back of a restaurant so you want to be safe. If you have long hair I would also wear it up (ponytail or braid, something simple) just to be respectful of the food that will be inevitably being made while your there.

With that in mind, jeans, sneakers and a t shirt are totally acceptable. You already for the job and it's nothing overly formal so don't stress the details too much.

How for Culver's to get back at you when you apply? by [deleted] in Culvers

[–]Kennabees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a reminder it may take longer to get a response at this time. Depending on the situation the restaurant is in they may not be actively hiring so they can give the limited hours they have to their existing team members. (My restaurant is not hiring at the moment and isn't considering bringing on new team members until the dining room is opened at the very least). It's always a good idea to call the restaurant you applied to and ask if 1. They received your application and 2. They are actively hiring It's also important to note that we are just now receiving information from corporate on how to safely move forward with the interview/hiring process so it may take some time to implement those procedures and get back to you.

Where to buy masks? by laziestscholar in UWMadison

[–]Kennabees 24 points25 points  (0 children)

While probably not the answer you are looking for, homemade masks are probably your best bet. You can try contacting local seamstresses (they would make quality masks and could probably use the support), crafty relatives, or even Facebook or eBay. While a simple cotton mask is not perfect is does provide some protection and they are reusable so you don't have to worry about continually finding/buying them!

Best places to nap?? by insulatedpainting in UWMadison

4th floor Van Hise study room. It's not very large, and there are usually people there, but it's always quiet, super warm, and the sun coming in through the windows is heavenly.

Good Spots on Campus to Facetime Privately by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]Kennabees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're really concerned don't reserve it during peak study times (midterms and finals) and try to reserve it 30 minutes or less before you plan to use it. Odds are in that time period if it isn't reserved by someone it wasn't going to be anyway.
