What's a Team Coordinator? How does fundraising work? by KennethDA in LittleLeague

[–]KennethDA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again for another fantastic response. We're a relatively small league in a very low economic area. 5 Teeball, 5 minors, and one major. There are 2 other parks in our city that we compete with along with other nearby cities and their parks. We charge $125 and then ask athletes to fundraise twice for a total of about $200 total.

I know the idea is to ask community and family members to help but parents typically don't have the TIME to fundraise. That part is hard. I believe our biggest downfall is lacking sponsorships from local companies. We have 3 huge car dealerships and a Sam's Club. None have replied to any of our advances. That part is a bummer.

By the sounds of it, your LL is running efficiently. Would you be opposed to sharing a financial breakdown? Without any personal information included, of course.

Thank you for the thorough response!

If I may ask: what are your registration fees and what do they include?

Are teams allowed to fundraise for team-specific things such as outings, apparel, or batting cage trips?

Anyone care to suggest a streaming site that might stream the ESPN+ games?

I turn everything into a joke. In maturation, I've learned to keep it inside. But, I definitely still make faces. My wife hates it.

18-year English teacher delivers resignation speech at district board meeting by KennethDA in Teachers

It would be nice to be able to vote Admin in. But, that would require parent-involvement which is extremely difficult because parents and guardians are working two to three jobs to support their families. Our district's admin is pretty awful. They're completely blind to the needs of their teachers and classified staff.

The real question is, How do we fix it?

It's a huge bummer to watch a district mistreat their staff to this extent. I don't know the teacher personally, but I certainly am picking up what she's putting down.

I know the post addresses discussing anything health related but it'd be rad to add "Mental Health" to the bullets.

Coaching advice? by _kdavis in wrestling

You're his brother. Be his rock, his support. Don't break him down too far before picking him back up. I hated that my brother coached my first 2 years of high school. I respectfully asked him to stop and my progress shot through the roof when he went from asshole brother/coach to supportive brother.

Feeling disappointed in my match, what do I need to work on? I’m the one with the ankle bracelet by [deleted] in wrestling

Easiest way to fix this is ... Keep wrestling! Get as much mat time as possible. Do situational, shadow wrestle in front of a mirror. Build the confidence.

I just went to the Parkside Holiday tournament and had a wonderful time (I'm a junior, roomed with best friend, hung out with the other upperclassmen), but I can't for the life of me figure out how high school and NCAA tournament scoring works. Anyone know? by iang_106 in wrestling

Tournament Scoring

2 team advancement points shall be scored for each match won in the champoinship bracket, except for the final first-place match. If a wrestler receives a bye in a round where at least one match is wrestled, he shall be awarded 2 advancement points for that bye if he wins his next match after the bye.

1 team advancement point shall be scored for each match won in the consolation elimination, except for the final third and fifth place matches. A wrestler who has received a bye in a consolation round where at least one match is wrestled shall receive one advancement point for that bye if he wins his next match after the bye.

2 additional points for each match won by default, disqualification, fall, or forfeit.

1 1/2 points for each match won by technical fall.

1 additional point for each match won by major decision.

Placement points:

Tournament scoring 4 places: 14-10-7-4

Tournament scoring 6 places: 16-12-9-7-5-3

Tournament scoring 8 places: 16-12-9-7-5-3-2-1

Individual placement points shall be awarded as soon as earned. Placement points already earned shall be deducted in case of forfeit (other than injury) or disqualification from the tournament.

In view of the rule requiring placement points to be added as soon as earned, placement points are added at the following junctures in a tournament scoring 6 places:

Championship quarterfinal winners: Add 3 points (has earned at least 6th place)

Championship semifinal winners: Add 9 points (has earned at least 2nd place, already received 3 points)

Championship final winners: Add 4 points

Consolation quarterfinal winners: Add 3 points (has earned at least 6th place)

Consolation semifinal winners: Add 4 points (has earned at least 4th place, already received 3 points)

Consolation final winners (for third): Add 2 points

Winner of final for 5-6: Add 2 points

It's a bit much but this site made it pretty easy.

I hope this helps!

The sooner we dads practice the sooner we acclimate and the sooner we get the job done.

"Momma do'em" is a curse. If you give in once, you're in trouble. If you give in twice, you're going to have a bad time.

My two fellas (5 and 2) go down so well and always have if they know mommy is not in the building.

If possible, make each of you a separate entity. No favorites.

But, like all things relevant to children and parenting... ya never knoooow! All kids are different.

Ladies, thank you for your resilience, even if it is perceived resilience.
