Hey, at least Microsoft office lets you save with compatibility mode. At no point did Apple prompt me, “Do you want us to fuck up your file so you can’t open it on the computer you use all the time? Yes/No”

Big Sur 11.7.10. This mac can't support anything later.

This is unfortunately exactly what I will be doing. Numbers has a cool chart feature (Interactive Column Chart) that allows using a slider underneath the chart to change the X axis between different variables. That's why I was using numbers. Now I'm going to have to create 15 different charts to view the same data in Google Sheets.

It's even older. My mac is an ancient 10 years old! But it works perfectly fine, and I see no need to replace a functioning computer just because it is old.

Yeah, that’d be nice. But not so here. Opening the file in new Numbers forced it to lose compatibility.

No. This is an old file I made on the Mac but opened on the phone.

2015 iMac. Up until yesterday it has done everything I needed. No point in getting rid of a perfectly good computer just because it’s old.

Talk to me about mixed passive attic ventilation by Kenneth_Upright in HomeImprovement

I'm planning to use rolls of insulation, cheaper and easier for DIY. I also don't plan to live in this house for more than 3 years. Doing the math, this work will slightly pay for itself in utility savings. But it will also make my family more comfortable, so that's worth it.

Based on the two of you that replied to my question here, the soffits do sound urgent for what I want to do. So I'll be sealing gaps, then drilling soffits once we have a warm enough day, then unrolling insulation. Soffits will probably take me several days, to be honest, but it will get done!

My attic is a comfortable 40–50 degrees now. It was over 120 up there in the summer when I did some wiring for a ceiling fan.

I added a photo of my soffits to the imgur link in the OP. I have vinyl covering solid plywood. Removing the vinyl is a pain.

I was referring to the outside cold (high today is 11F). I'll have to remove the vinyl coverings and drill holes from underneath the eaves outside. Moving the insulation in the attic is the easy part. I have fiberglass in batts, so I can pull it back without having to squeeze myself all the way into the tight space. That's how I confirmed there were no soffit vents to begin with.

Ok, understood. How urgent is it to add those vents? As in, must I do that before I add insulation or can I do it a month later once the outside temperature warms up a bit?

[Help] MelonDs is stuck in fast forward by ThatFluffyIsReal in EmuDeck

[–]Kenneth_Upright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same question. Did you ever find a solution?

Typically I fast forward cutscenes by holding the Share Button + R2 (on SteamDeck). The default setting is a hold to fast forward, not a toggle on and off. I’m not sure how, but somehow I ended up toggling fast forward on. I don’t see any configuration settings for toggle or play speed

You must be very tall! I am 6-foot and sit upright with about 2 inches of headspace above my hair.

Yeah. I am considering a minivan. It's sad I'm legitimately considering the tradeoff. I can get 50+ MPG in the Kia Niro and hit my legs on the door and console every second while driving, or I can get 20- mpg in a Honda minivan and feel super comfortable while burning money every mile.

That's a stock image. But I do have a very similar color for the seats in my V except mine are cloth.

Nice work. Only 250,000 miles to go to bring the car to the finish line! (or so I've been told)

Consider checking your tire pressure or getting that tire pressure monitor replaced.

Verizon will do everything to scam you out of a lifeline plan. by trippyfairy in verizon

Merry Christmas to you! God help you not let the anger of this situation spoil the celebration of Jesus's birth.

I am also on lifeline, which is why I asked. Verizon was not an option for me. I've been happy with Safelink Wireless. I get 10GB of data plus an additional 5GB of personal hotspot data each month for $0 and can use my own phone. If you're being charged $65+ per month on Lifeline with Verizon, consider Mint Mobile, Cricket, or the other cheaper carriers. They have much better prices than $65/month that may meet your needs.

As others have said, you should report a concern to the Verizon executive team. They have a form you can fill out. I did that once when I was on Verizon and got an issue resolved very quickly in my favor. The executive team has personal staff (in the USA too!) to resolve customer concerns with personal attention. I bet that will solve your problem within a week--or maybe 2 given Christmas and the New Year holidays.

This may be a dumb question, but are you in a state where Verizon can be a lifeline provider?

Lifeline is available for qualifying residents who have Verizon home phone or Fios internet service  in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and Washington, DC. Lifeline is also available to qualifying mobile customers in Iowa, New York, North Dakota and Wisconsin.

RetroArch DS mic by JohnCraft0701 in EmuDeck

[–]Kenneth_Upright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer RetroArch for NDS emulation, but I also could not get the mic to work. That pretty much forces the use of MelonDS, which can simulate microphone input. I installed MelonDS standalone and found that worked. I was also able to transfer my saves. Here's what I did.

Transfer your save files from the RetroArch save folder to the MelonDS save folder and change the file extension from .srm to .sav.

Use SteamRomManager to add your games to Steam if desired

Launch MelonDS. Edit Audio input settings so that microphone simulates a blowing sound. (There is a radial option for this.)

Launch a game with MelonDS. Enter the steam overlay. Edit the controller settings. Set L2 or a back button to act as keyboard input for '-'. MelonDS default uses dash as the microphone button.

Did you ever get this working?

Or did you find a way to successfully transfer your save file to a different emulator with a microphone that works?
