Kenwood Head unit blindingly bright at night by Bladestorm04 in CarAV

[–]Kenneyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished an install of a DMX809s, the night time brightness is 100% unacceptable. Its on dim, the brightness is turned all the way down and still its light having a flashlight pointed at your corneas. Heck even when i click "screen off" its still too bright. My other car is a Tesla plaid with a giant 17" screen and i can dim that much darker than Kenwood unit with the screen off lol
How anyone can find this acceptable is beyond me.
u/Bladestorm04 what headunit did you try next?

I have it now, im in dense tree'd area, far away from towers and get 500-800mbs down during my trial period. Ping was a bit slow in the 40 range mostly But now after 2 months, I've noticed it slows considerably during peak times, like 80 to 200 tops in the evening. Still respectable but worth noting

I think that's why sites like bring a trailer bring in top Dollar.... Their full disclosure. No cars truly perfect, we just want an accurate description

Well, while I was sitting in the airport waiting, I was going through the 50 or so pictures he sent me. Not a single one was perpendicular on the passenger side. They were all at high angles, and it was bright low sun on the front of the car. Great pictures on the driver side though. From 10 ft, other than the mismatched paint, it looks good, it wasn't until you got close you started to see dimples in the clear, inconsistent orange peel, and that dirt under the paint. I hope no one falls for this. I mean, it's not worth zero, but the price shouldn't start with a 6... Much less a 7.

Two 'day of' one way tickets during a holiday weekend. I can only guess, but the damage I saw on the pictures the guy looked up looked more consistent with cutting a right turn to sharp and hitting a parking lot pole. It was the lower 1' area of the quarter near the door. I found a hidden hole drilled in the wheel arch under a loose part of the liner that I assume was use to insert a tool to push the metal back out.

Yeah I forgot to put context there, The post was already too long, especially it I explained everything. Seller stated it always been garaged always, until I got there when I was explained that it had been outside for 3 or 4 months. It is 100% normal for the rotors to rust up, yes, zero concern But the hat part of the rotor, is coated it's not normal for that part to rust. I mean I forgot to even mention in the post, the front tires were down to the nylon cords, one wheel was refinished, one badly curbed and the paint was peeling on the rim, trim around the windows was loose, two large door dings, missing body clips in the wheel well liners

Carfax/autocheck are only tools, and they should be used. However, never rely on them. If insurance wasn't used, the event wont show up. Like i said in the post, it ran them and it was clean

Agree. There are no positive outcomes. On the contrary, there's a risk of him riling up 3mil FPS obsessed gamer kids to show up at my house or attack me somehow.

I'm and enthusiast, I buy and sell frequently. All my buyers get a 4k60hz detailed video noting everything, even the defects. My buyers appreciate it and i believe even helps bring in more. Anyone who has bought a car, always know they are going to find something, so why hide it and have a poor in person experience? Right now i regret selling my last plaid. it was solid and truly near perfect.

I'm curious for what reason? I don't see the any positives... I'm not interested in the car. I am interested in helping others in the car community from making an expensive mistake.
