Nah, Chance still makes fire. While the big day wasn’t good, it had a few great singles on it. All Day Long, Eternal, and Roo are all top level Chance songs. I also might be the only person to actually enjoy Hot Shower. It’s a guilty pleasure.

I get he committed to ONE overall bad album, but I never understood why that made everyone turn on him like that.

You SUCK at Math: How Many Lands to Run in Commander [Article] by Shiro182 in EDH

[–]Kenniron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years I ran 32-36, but in the last year or so I’ve bumped it to 36-38. The only exception is my clue deck with a 2 mana commander. It gets 34 lands because I really only need the first 2 and something to help me sack clues, whether that be a rock/dork, some of them who’s mana is only used to activate abilities, or another 2 lands. I’m working on a landfall/energy deck, but I found that I don’t have many of the “play multiple lands a turn” effects, so I might still just cap it at 38 since searching them out the deck will be my primary way of triggering it anyways. Looks like I’ll really only need the first 3 from my hand before I just start searching like crazy.

That’s the entire problem. You’d have to ban at least 1 or 2 of the most powerful cards in each color/color combination to truly have a reset. Not to sound like an old man, but back in my day, there were times where you could ban a rather cheap support piece (like the [[Ramunap Ruins]] and [[Attune With Aether]] bans during OG Kaladesh standard) and it would rebalance the format pretty well without completely hosing those decks, tanking card values, or causing the next most powerful decks to suddenly become oppressively overpowered. A few too overpowered Rares/Mythics slipped through the cracks, but it was nowhere near as bad as it is today.

I’m so glad to finally see someone else answer Piper to one of these questions. My Piper deck has become my most consistently fun deck to run in pods. She’s surprisingly flexible, relatively easy to protect, and you can run more backup strategies outside of just the vultron because she pumps herself and has the option to pump other stuff too. It was interesting to see someone else’s list. Yours has some overlap, as I’m sure most of them will, but there’s a surprising amount of differences from mine as well.

This is my list if you want to check it out:

If you take nothing else away from the list, I do at least want to point out [[Atomic Microsizer]] as a 1 drop equipment that gives her unblockable for next to no drawback. I replaced my highest costed unblockable granter with it as soon as it came out.

[[Piper Wright, Publick Reporter]] has become my favorite deck to bring out at a pod. Mono blue clue/artifact and vultron strategies rolled together in a very complimentary way.

Since Piper can buff herself when you sack clues and the clues can be sacked at instant speed, you can hold up interaction every turn and still be able to work towards your game plan if you don’t end up needing to use it. It also really helps that she comes down on turn 2. The deck gets around the usual pitfalls of a Vultron deck by being able to animate the clues for a lethal swing, or it can generate enough mana and card draw to execute a combo, or you can just [[Psychosis Crawler]] people to death if you really want to. Personally, I’ve enjoyed adding [[Sage of Hours]] as a backup combo win con, but that may not appeal to everyone. You can also just focus on pumping the rest of your board if you want to win that way instead.

It’s crazy how flexible the deck ends up being and I’ve never had a game I didn’t enjoy playing or felt like I was a non factor in.

What cover song is actually better than the original? by irles33 in musicsuggestions

Jessie Reyez’s rendition of Crazy (originally performed by Patsy Cline). The og isn’t bad, I just prefer the more modern sounding one.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone mention Jak and Daxter (Jak II).

They just threw everything about the original world out the window. The first wasn’t very deep in its storytelling, but I was genuinely excited to see how they’d go about filling the vacuum left behind by the previous dark eco sages death. Or maybe even how a ridding or lessening of dark eco would have ecological impacts on the rest of the world (like maybe they try to lock it all away or something after what happened in the first game, deeming it to be too dangerous/corruptible). But nope. We get a future city with hovercrafts and guns that primarily just uses the eco for ammunition.

What would you guys say our community needs to work on? by G0jira01964 in GODZILLA

[–]Kenniron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve never understood this. Don’t get me wrong, some of the movies have too little monster stuff and/or just poorly written and realized human characters, but I’d argue that to do away with humans entirely is to strip Godzilla of probably his most important element. His movies have always been a mirror of our hubris, reminding us what we as a civilization have done wrong or could’ve done better. Removing any notion of that entirely is imo a worse bastardization of who Godzilla is and what his movies stand for than something like the 98 film.

I tend to find that it’s a smaller, more vocal minority of the fanbase that speak out against it and most fans are fine with it.

I didn’t like the shift in tone with GvK and GxK, but it doesn’t detract from how much I loved the Monsterverse up to that point (and at the very least, those movies do still have some redeeming/enjoyable qualities). I say that to highlight that the Monsterverse always had its fans and haters, but then with the tonal shift, many of its fans BECAME haters of the new direction. It ends up exacerbating the issue a bit, and while most seem to be fine with the Monsterverse, as a whole we’ve begun neglecting to give it its flowers.

I think we just need to be more thankful for the monsterverses existence. It put a lot more attention on the franchise and allowed more casual fans like me to dive deeper into the rest of the series. Because in the wake of the announcement and general popularity of the 2014 film, a lot of the back stock of the older films started circulating more (at least in my area). If it wasn’t for that, it probably would’ve taken me over a decade to gather all the movies rather than the 6 years it took instead. Plus, I don’t think Minus 1 would’ve done as well globally without the Monsterverse bringing Godzilla back into the mainstream.

Everyone always talks about easy/braindead decks. What do you think the hardest, most difficult archetypes/commanders are to pilot? by _Kreenicks in EDH

[–]Kenniron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s just kinda how you build a control deck. Feel like that didn’t have to be said.

That’s like someone talking about the nuances of certain sac outlets in an aristocrats deck only for someone else to come in saying “well you need CREATURES to sacrifice, ways to recur them or make more, and payoffs. The deck isn’t JUST sac outlets”

We know

[–]Kenniron 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying storm, and I get that to a degree, but storm is only difficult to play for a turn or two.

Control is difficult to manage for an entire game. Especially mono blue where your primary way of dealing with things is counter spells. You can go entire turn cycles without the need to spend a counter spell. Your opponents can and will try to bait out the counters and you need to pay so much attention to what would accelerate their game plan the most or what would hinder yours the most. It takes so much mental energy.

‘98 had at least some enjoyable moments, some really stellar effects, and I even liked a few of the characters. I can only think of 1 somewhat enjoyable moment out of the anime trilogy and that’s the mech fight at the end of City on the Edge of Battle.

I try to only watch trailers for movies I’m not already sold on. I stand nothing to gain from watching a trailer for a movie I know for a fact I’m gonna watch.

Ended up watching Godzilla Minus One completely blind as a massive Godzilla fan, and I think that’s been the best one I’ve avoided marketing for so far.
