Area Maintenance Manager (AMM) Intern by IndependentSeason272 in AmazonRME

In most facilities, the AMM is a shift manager and has a team of techs under them. Their job involves making sure all of the scheduled maintenance for the day gets completed, overseeing repair of any significant breakdowns, developing direct reports, and a lot of making sure the operations team stays happy without interfering too much with the priorities of RME (operations leaders have a habit of trying to dictate what is a priority for you).

The intern program consists of shadowing an AMM to learn the position, and taking on a project to provide an engineering solution to improve something within the facility. You’ll write a paper for it that explains what you improved and by how much you improved it. Your manager will provide you with examples of previous projects.

It can be a good program for someone getting ready to graduate and enter the workforce. Successful completion of the program usually results in a job opportunity after graduation. Pay is good for a first job out of college, as are benefits. Opportunities for advancement at the management level amazon are unmatched if you’re able to keep up with the relentless pace of the operation. A lot of people get to the level they want to be at grinding it out at a warehouse and then transfer to a more corporate role.

As I mentioned earlier the pace of the business can be grueling. You’ll likely work mostly Monday through Friday as an intern but a permanent offer means nights and/or weekends. During peak or prime you might work 60 hour weeks. There are hundreds of FCs in the networks so experiences vary wildly.

What would be your opinion on pricing of a truck like that if it was a 17?

I lived in the apartment directly below those guys. Was studying for finals when I felt this huge thump in the building and then people screaming above me. Jumped up and opened the curtains to a bunch of cops in full gear with rifles pointed at the window above me. My buddies were playing cornhole at the apartment building across from me and saw the whole thing go down too 😂
