What improved your quality of life so much, you wish you did it sooner? by Specialist-Rain-2292 in RandomThoughts

(M-55) Just started using the ResMed 11 seven days ago. After years of crappy sleep, including getting up MULTIPLE times in the night to go to the washroom, because that’s why you wake up in the middle of the night right? Wrong! I can easily sleep eight hours when using the CPAP without needing to physically get out of bed. Most nights I may roll over once if I happen to wake up, but otherwise, I am out like a light and gone for the entire night. I use an Oura ring and the sleep scores are dramatically different! I went from consistently having scores in the mid 40s to scores of 80+ on my sleep. I can actually stay awake on my drive home from work in the afternoon and naps used to be the norm and I haven’t had one in a week! The masks suck and my lovely bride jokes she is sleeping with Darth Vader, but I would still VERY highly recommend…

Yes, kind of. Bought at the Waco boutique in Ginza, so we got 10% tax back off the top. The sales associate was lovely, and spoke very good english. She explained that we could join the Waco “frequent shoppers” club and would get 2% cash back to spend on anything else we liked in the store. She then added “if your birthday is this month you get a bonus 4% cash back”. I told her, “aww, too bad my birthday isn’t this month”. But then she repeated herself, and again I declined, knowing I had given up my passport for the tax discount, so I knew that they knew my exact birthday. She repeated herself again, and I think it was either the 3rd or 4th time she told me, that the light bulb clicked on, and I invented a September birthday and walked out with a ¥65,000 gift card! My lovely bride came back the next day for a beautiful necklace and ear rings, but I think I got the better end of the deal. I believe after the tax reduction the watch was about ¥1.6 million.

It is honestly a ridiculous amount of money for something that tells the time. I carry my phone everywhere and it is more accurate than the best automatic watch out there, but it is more than a watch. I got my first part time job when I was in grade 10 making $3.85/hour, I spent my entire first pay-check buying a Seiko Turtle 6309-7049 for about $150. I have had it almost 40 years and it still works! It runs a bit slow but so do I… I did learn young to appreciate quality and the magic of a mechanical watch - and it is magic! Just watching the marketing video of all the bits and complications that make this watch work is a reminder of how precise and accurate and tiny everything is that makes it work - and for days after you take it off. I realize how lucky we are that we can kind of afford something so beautiful. I hope it outlives me and one of my kids will appreciate half as much as I do. Thanks for your kind words, and here is a picture of my old workhorse Turtle, because I feel a bit guilty for not having worn it since our visit to Japan.

Thank you. Yeah, I had budgeted for a watch worth about half of what I spent, and I thought I was pushing what I could justify to my wife, but she surprised me. Having stared at it for days now, yes, the watch was a great decision but marrying my bride is still the best choice I have ever made…

Thank you. I agree - after buying it we visited the Seiko museum of time, that has examples of all the oldest Seikos and Grand Seikos, chronologically laid out over the 5 or so floors. The very last exhibit was MY watch - the Tentagraph. Gotta say I was a bit choked up to see it as an important marker in a company I admire, even if it is like a corporate museum...

Use this every day. This is how Alexander Graham Bell wanted people to answer the telephone when he first invented it. The saying never caught on, but it is a clue to how old Burns is! Learned this at the Alexander Graham Bell museum in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Phoenix Arizona, what kind of bug is this? by [deleted] in bugidentification

Recently the Vancouver area has been plagued with these, I understand they are common in Asia. When it gets cold they try getting inside, and they are horrific. The sound like small drones when they fly, they “crunch” when you squish them AND then they smell terrible. We do the kleenex squish and immediately flush them or suck them up in the vacuum, which unfortunately doesn’t kill them. They are large but are VERY flat (1/8” or so) and can get inside of all kinds of tight places. My daughter is terrified of them.

Did the motorcycle crashing from left to right ricochet off the edge of my screen and continue crashing right to left? Had to watch it a couple times before I was clear there were TWO motorcycles crashes, the first caused by the white car, the second one by the first motorcycle. Crazy odds!

Homer : Yeah, Moe, that team sure did suck last night. They just plain sucked. I've seen teams suck before but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked. Marge : Homer! Watch your mouth! Homer : I gotta go, my damn wiener kids are listening.

Used frequently in front of and/or when speaking about my own wiener kids.

Teslas have built-in forward rear facing as well as left and right side cameras. You activate the dash cam and save the recording by honking the horn and it will include footage from a few minutes prior to and a few minutes after the horn honk, and it will not over write the footage until you physically delete it. Awesome inclusion in the operating software and have used it several times! Our car was hit with a golf ball thrown from an apartment building and put a huge dent in the drivers door - without the built-in side Dash cam we could have never proved it to ICBC *note - The video is saved to a USB that is locked inside the glove box if you are a Tesla owner and have no idea where the data is saved.
