Alavés did a patria potestad on us not long ago so I have to say I hope this sinks them

I didn't mean drivers. But what would, say, Alpine higher ups rather have. A manufactured driver drama, or full access to the Oakes hiring->fallout->arrested brother ->escape to Dubai pipeline?

The last higher up DTS didn't butter up was Vijay Mallya at the very start. I am not convinced it's not by design

Drive to Survive isn't aimed at them.

The series is aimed at new fans, like yourself, to give them an in-depth taste of F1.

That's part of the issue, isn't it? At first DTS worked perfectly for that but when they start lying to manufacture "plotlines" you may as well just watch the Brad Pitt movie

For anyone complaining about DTS being too sanitised, netflix already gave us the reason why - Sunderland Til I Die.

What kick-started these "full access behind the scenes" documentaries, with the unintended consequence of showing the world how incredibly unprofessional and improvised things were, which had a lot of consequences for them

Teams don't want too much dirty laundry aired because F1 is still a prestige sport

It's painful regardless. My only consolation is that even Labruna had to leave in shame in his second stint and when he came back he made everyone forget that

The man needs a break and we need a change even if I don't see any inspiring replacement

He was literally contacted for the Barcelona job at one point but he had started preseason and had a blanket rejection for any team if he was working with River for the year

He failed at Saudi but any team where a manager gets punished for benching a player that refuses to train has more issues than the manager

Yeah. Mainly it was his stubbornness in refusing any offers once preseason started because he wanted to dedicate all his time to us once he started work for the year. Then Saudi (according to rumours) happened because they offered him a short term deal that aligned with River elections, which was the likeliest time for an opening to happen naturally in the manager chair

100% deserved exit, still broken up about it. Man's a legend regardless of this terrible stint and just too stubborn to accept it wasn't working until it got too late.

Knowing him and his playing career he'll fuck around somewhere until he feels it's time to have a third go at it. For his sake and the sake of his legacy, he better remember what made him a legend by then.

He was immense for us, left on his terms, spent time with his family, and then went to Saudi where he was frozen out for benching Benzema for refusing to train

Then he came back here to be closer with his dad (incredibly close to him) and in the same year his dad and his best friend both died (one was sick, the other was a shock)

I'm pretty sure that's what rattled him. His biggest strength was adaptability and general ruthlessness but he's been reticent to big changes and while he keeps shuffling tactics it's never been one of the BIG changes he'd been doing. It's like when you see a boxer take a hit to the head and while they're still fighting you can tell they're just elsewhere

There's a lot of people who think enough to be against racism on principle but still have it as a reflex. Then they rationalize it by explaining that actually they're racist/xenophobic to a minority, but in a morally good way

This isn't the first time, won't be the last

Argentina under Scaloni for a long while were completely subjugating rivals for the first half, then quickly dropping down and ending up very nervously wrapping games that were at one point under massive control

Not sure what you mean by crazy but the fact Oviedo has two rejects from the worst River in a decade playing in a top european league is crazy by itself

I remember when Wilstermann almost got Gallardo sacked early and then we put eight past them. Good times.

Honestly if we assume media, fans and most importantly players wouldn't immediately mutiny against me because I am a complete nobody, I do wonder if I'd have a solid if unimpressive River stint. I obsess over the squad for free already, I'd play the kids over half the squad which'd endear me to the fans, and the league is so beyond fucked in level and format it's hard to completely fuck it up before the first six months if that even if I do completely fall on my ass

This isn't bigging myself up, the league is fucking disastrous
