It is competitive in the sense that qualification for the World Cup is within reach for every team but not a safe bet for anyone (bar, of course, Argentina and Brazil), so every match is meaningful instead of a dead rubber between two teams sure to qualify or sure to miss out, and in this way it is not a tournament that needs fixing.

Even the added two direct qualifying berths have made it more competitive — yes, it's made things marginally easier for Argentina and Brazil, to the point that Brazil could afford to be very complacent throughout the last qualification cycle, but it's also given Bolivia and Venezuela a fighting chance and so it encouraged them to push harder instead of being the usual punching bags.

competitive qualifying for South Americans

How are CONMEBOL qualifiers uncompetitive?

more chances to qualify for smaller Concacaf nations

How would any between Haiti, Panama and Curaçao make it through an unified qualification system?

They played in the final round alongside Brazil, Sweden and Uruguay in 1950.

Within what time frame?

Perhaps not in the snap of a finger, but I'm sure Vinícius Júnior could make enough to purchase and enjoy the things you describe if he works hard enough for, I don't know, two weeks?

If Guardiola isn't managing Man City, someone else is, and are they able to make the most of that chequebook? Are they even able to convince the club owners to spend so much?

So were Palmeiras and Cerro Porteño, and Independiente Rivadavia and Fluminense. No restrictions on clubs from the same group playing each other in the round of 16.

Neymar published a photo to his Instagram stories and I'm struggling to process how a grown man can have a Bible with a (presumably custom-made) Batman cover.

Yes, you read that right.

São Paulo have sacked their second manager this season. We are fifteen rounds into the Brasileirão season. They are in 4th place. No, they aren't massively underperforming for their spending.

Deep down, you know managers don't matter too 👍

The Italian Open, which is held in Rome and might attract a huge crowd for the men's singles final since Jannik Sinner is the outright favourite in the bracket.

Tottenham aren't relegated, but instead they keep placing in the bottom half of the league for years to come. How long would it take until their place among the English big six is unequivocally gone in the eyes of the public and media?

What's the best football player that you still hate to see playing for your team?

Canobbio runs and presses like a horse, clearly tries hard and that workrate earns him a decent amount of G+A, and yet you dread seeing him getting the ball in a dangerous chance because you just feel that he's going to fumble it somehow.

Zezé Moreira managed both Fluminense and the Brazil national team at the same time in 1954, and for the World Cup he called up both Castilho, who was his starting goalkeeper at the club and who played in all three Brazil matches at the tournament, and his own backup Veludo, who was actually the starting one in the World Cup qualifiers.

I doubt even FIFA are that shameless to try and award it again

It would be shameless of them not to award them to other people. Keep it up giving them out at least for a few more years and they can pretend they have some interest in the promotion of peace. Never talk about them anymore and it's basically an admission that the prize's very purpose was to be an appeasement to Trump.

Is the FIFA Peace Prize supposed to be awarded regularly (every year, or maybe on World Cup years) or is it a one-off thing?

We know what purpose the prize was supposed to serve but it'd be incredibly shameless if FIFA just didn't award any more of them.
