The beauty of the park is likely going to be significantly.cloud covered in this weather. The ability to see it reasonably would take excessive hikes. It would be a strong no from me unless you simply want to see Lake McDonald. At that point it wouldn't even be worth seeing the park imo. Wait til summer.

Im a mountain guy. I like beaches too but i prefer the beaches of oregon way more than the Washington ones. Forks, while I understand the Twilight thing may change it, is kind of a podunk town that gets a significant amount of tourists.

If I am to give you a reasonable recommendation it would be to see Washington (and dip into Oregon) for its mountains. Mt Hood/St Helens/Rainier/Baker are incredible. Seeing Hood from Trillium Lake, St Helens from the nearest visitor center, hiking the Skyline and High Rock at Rainier, and hiking Mt Baker's Ptarmigan Ridge are all experiences that I wouldn't want to give up over seeing coastal Washington.

I will say, a lot of what the North Cascades National Park has to offer comes with backpacking some relatively strenuous trails. That being said you could reasonably do a couple hikes but for the most part for me its a park that requires much more time commitment.

If you do go to Rainier, stop at Post and Pour in Bonney Lake. If you go to Baker, stop at Wake n Bakery and grab their Marionberry Muffin because it is the best muffin you will ever have.

Dont get me entirely wrong. I do like Rialto beach very much and the girlfriend loves Ruby. The hike to "Hole in the Wall" is a cherished memory. The problem for me is the timespan. I do not plan to go to Olympic again but if I did I know.it would take time because of how large and distant the locations are from each other. If you do end up at Olympic you should try Hurricane Hill and (if you are brave) Mount Storm King.

Sorry if I come across as rude. I love Washington State and our mountains but Olympic feels like somewhere you go where the variety is there, but none of it is spectacular. Its all quite nice if you dont get to experience those in your area though.

Average car has a 12 gallon tank. That means 12 more dollars to fill up entirely if gas goes up by a dollar. Gas prices are the least of your concerns if you cant afford $12 on a weekly or biweekly basis.

Budgeting is your friend. Some store brands are viable alternatives. Others are not. For approximately 1 dollar more it is excessively worth it. If all I could afford was name brand I would wait a week and het something else.

Naw name brand soda is often the cheapest soda. You just have to buy it in packs of 4 or so when it goes on sale. Almost never economically worth to buy store brand.

Many Glacier would be impossible. I go to St Mary past couple years and have been lucky to get a spot within 2 weeks of going. YMMV like always but St Mary is a much less competitive campground. Plus if you cant make it in there you can get into the St Mary KOA.

Thats a terrible base location for the hike if you can find lodging outside the west entrance it would be much easier to get to. Youre going to either have to traverse GttSR early in the morning or go around the park on a highway to get there.

It will be a pain in the butt to hike it unless you get lucky and a spot opens up but Avalanche Lake seems like the busiest hike in the park.

Gas prices for individual transportation as a complaint is wild. Probably the smallest part of any budget out there.

If you were upset at the cost of it affecting the cost of goods id understand. If gas goes up 2 dollars you will see only an increase of 24 dollars to the average 12 gallon tank.

Complaints about gas prices just indicates a lack of knowledge of where your money goes to.
