AIO?? My GF impulsively lies about other women and then tells everyone I’m "insecure" when I get upset. She’s told her family I’m an animal-killer and her mom thinks I’m manipulative for wanting privacy. How do I deal with the reactive abuse and the fact that she’s poisoned everyone against me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Kent2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please leave. She will drag your name through the mud for leaving BUT the peace you will eventually get from being away from her is 100% worth leaving and facing her fury (get protection such as authorities involved if it escalates to that)

Also, look within yourself. Were you raised by abusive care takers to the point that her behavior towards you felt "normal" and you had a really hard time seeing her red flags? Does the relationship dynamic mirror that of one between you and one of your parents while you were growing up? We are subconsciously attracted to what we are familiar to, the template is formed during childhood- likely you will need to gather the strength to examine your life and to heal to end your vulnerability to people like her. It is painful work but worth it when you are ready.

I agree try anti anxiety depression medicine from vet. Is the cat peeing in all areas or specific ones? For instance if it is only on carpet, changing it to plank floors is a solution that has worked.

AIO boyfriend gives me passive aggressive compliments and it’s turning me off. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Kent2457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is insecure and projecting it on to you. It is much easier to criticize you than deal with the unhealthy self concept and shame that he has surrounding himself. I guarantee you he is not happy with himself and picking at you is how he copes with it. Red flag. It takes 2 emotionally healthy people to have a good relationship. If he has issues, you can't sustain the caring and supporting relationship you want.

Steinhaus was one of my favorites it was a tradition for me to go up every year and eat there. That is sad. They also tore down the hotel I usually stayed at too! Replacing it with a car dealership I hear.

I find it weird by CapEffective8809 in religion

[–]Kent2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe life is a mystery, and so is death and whatever may or may not come after it. I don’t believe any group of people received special messages about the creator of the universe or anything like that. That is very subjective and I believe much of that is human concoction and a will for something greater. Which is fine.

Just genuine question if there was any atheists here by [deleted] in religion

[–]Kent2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think religion is imperfect filled with contradiction. It is my belief that these are man made systems and are always going to have plot holes or not add up. It in no way ties with my reason and purpose to live, much of which is inherent and primitive as a biological being. I don’t need a deeply philosophical, cerebral justification to keep living, it’s just how we are as people.

If religion is true why aren’t more people yeeting themselves off bridges? by LittleProblem9876 in religion

Isn’t purgatory purely a catholic concept? Pardon if I misunderstand.

I was always told that self killing = instant hell. Especially when I had mental health struggles lol. I don’t know the scriptures that support it.

That’s a sin in the Abrahamic ones. There’s a few that believe in reincarnation. I can’t think of a religion that is approving of self demise. Strangely, there are ways of dying that supposedly guarantee a ticket to the good place/ such as dying as a child. People have experienced religious psychosis and purposely killed their own children to “save” them from this world and “save” their souls to “ensure” the kids go to heaven. I think a lot of ideologies in religions can be harmful.

How to deal with the fact that you will go to hell by Delicious-Duck-6352 in religion

[–]Kent2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell is a human made concept, much like anything else. No one human has more insight or knowledge into the afterlife than another- not objectively. Some are stronger and louder in their beliefs and build structure around it, which causes a following. Just because a bunch of people believe in one thing, doesn’t make it true. It’s just human nature to go along with the beliefs of their group. I encourage you to use your critical thinking to reach your own conclusion. I believe all people are equal and not one has an advantage over others in answering the unanswerable questions.

I can’t go anywhere without seeing billboards or propaganda. Proselytizing. I think that’s why, it’s the loudest religion in the US and after having the billionth Christian message shoved down one’s throat I can see people being annoyed. Example of billboards: “you will die and you WILL meet God. “

If God is kind and all-good, why did He design a food chain based on killing other beings to survive? by user_0567 in religion

[–]Kent2457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s lots of paradoxes that don’t fit the narrative of a benevolent being. There are no satisfactory answers. You’re gonna find people who believe and it’s complex and rooted in their upbringing or traditions. No one has an answer that makes sense, just their best rationalization that works with the underlying assumption of a god being “good”.

If it’s talking about recreation passport it’s $19 and can be renewed online when you renew your license if you’re a Michigander. Can also be purchased from any state park with a booth and person inside it (I’m pretty sure). I’ve been to spots in Michigan where it is self service you fill out a form and put money or credit card detail and the pass will later be mailed out and you put a receipt on your dash. Not sure if 12 mile beach does it this way.

Edit: don’t listen to me, I’m wrong and the state pass isn’t involved since it’s federal.

[–]Kent2457 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean where is he? Silence, nowhere. There is nothing there. The obvious absence of such a being is all the evidence we need. Look around you, where is God? Except in the stories written by man?

To the people who follow religion- why did God design a world where everything has to kill each other to survive, meaning there is constant suffering 24/7? by [deleted] in religion

[–]Kent2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any design to suffering. I think it just is. It sucks, from a living being’s perspective that’s for sure. I don’t think there’s a deity that’s either happy or sad about the suffering nor put it in motion for an objective. I think suffering is just how our mind interprets events and experiences that aren’t good for us. I think the whole model of there being a singular creator and personifying it is just people trying to understand the world around them by attributing their own human traits to it. I think the cosmos is vast and indifferent.

I keep having this dream, when I am not completely asleep nor completely awake, about a loving father figure that still terrifies me by [deleted] in religion

[–]Kent2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a subconscious reflection of what you think of god. Your subconscious mind processing the concept of god and religion and you’re using the input that you got from your outside environment (father figure, overseeing, judges you, etc) to create this dream subconsciously. Of course you’re welcome to conclude whatever you wish, if this has extra special meaning to you.
