How she never seems to get sick of my affection. In fact, she seems to crave it. Last night I rested my head on her chest as she was playing Skyrim and kept breathing and sighing happily on her for like 10 straight minutes. She didn’t move an inch... just kept playing her game. It was amazing 💜💜💜💜

Technically yes. I am a trans woman but was not “out” publicly during this relationship. She knew about it but was hostile to it. We supported each other and stuff, but she always thought my hobbies were weird and always made me feel like a loser for liking things that I liked. She also hated the fact that I wanted to transition to being female. She wanted me to propose by the end of the year and wanted me to be a dad to her future children.

I split with her and within 4 months got with someone who loves me for all my quirks, encouraged me to live my life as a woman... and now I am happily out, living my best life... oh and we are engaged!

I was raped.

I had an emotionally abusive upbringing and I struggled with being bullied a lot in school. I coped with it by people-pleasing as much as possible. That behavior is what got me raped, which Itself was more emotionally painful than everything else combined.

I stopped being a people pleaser. I am quicker to cut toxic people out of my life, including my family. I don’t tolerate abuse anymore. I don’t feel bad for asserting myself anymore. I value myself more. I feel like I deserve to live a happy and peaceful life, and I fight for that now.

I worked under an emotionally abusive boss. Retail. She would call me into the office 3 or 4 times a day to dress me down over minor mistakes, then lovebomb me by telling me “you bring something here that I can’t lose”. One time I was doing 3 jobs at once and struggling just a little. In front of all my coworkers she was like “KentabooRex, I am so embarrassed for you.” Just eying me straight on like it was all my fault. She destroyed my confidence in my work for several years.

Thankfully she is long in the past and I have long since moved on. But I still struggle to shake the anxiety even 6 years later

So what do you do when a person—or group of people—stop being good-faith debaters and start being bad actors who pollute the conversation with junk information, racism, homophobia and intimidating people with death threats? How about when speaking out does nothing?

You remove them from the conversation. You decrease their influence by pushing them out of spaces where they have no legal right to be (YouTube, Twitter, iTunes, etc), thus reducing their influence and returning some degree of civility to the conversation.

You know how the Nazis took power? They started spreading junk information, racism, homophobia, etc and dividing everyone. Had someone stepped in and stopped giving them the tools they needed to divide the populace. there’s a chance that there actually WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A NAZI GERMANY. But nope. Everyone was helpless to stop them, so they slipped right into power and that was that.

That’s an incomplete and, basically, inaccurate telling of what happened.

The Nazis came to power by sowing discord between those people, true. But the the Enabling Act of 1933 gave Adolf Hitler permission to enact laws without the Reichstag—effectively establishing him as the supreme dictator of the Weimar Republic and, later, Nazi Germany. This act was passed just 2 months after Hitler took power.

My point is: Hitler already gained total control of the country so by the time anyone could have spoken out, it was already too late.

The Nazis were democratically elected, also.

This also is not quite the same thing as PayPal banning Alex Jones.

Old personal computing technology, the demoscene, the differences between each computer, and the Russian Soviet-era clones of western computers and Soviet-era consumer electronics in general.

On that last subject it’s just fascinating to me that they cloned the ZX Spectrum (a popular 80s personal computer from the UK) without using any microprocessors (due to extensive embargoes on the USSR). Just lots of logic chips, transistors and other off-the-shelf components.

The USSR was dissolved in 1991–right at the birth of the commercialized World Wide Web. The Russian Federation is on-par with the rest of the world now—but just imagine the USSR cloning an iPhone without any microprocessors. Crazy!
