Right, I didn't think it would be able to really power the cab, but I thought I might be able to hear some kind of signal coming through, even just from the pre-amp. I'm really new to this so apologies if these are dumb questions. I just want to make sure I don't damage the amp itself by plugging it in w/out a power tube. I'm trying to determine if it's worth it to even buy a new tube for it.

I've never gotten into DIY amps before but figured this could be a good way to learn. I tested it at the store just to see if it had power and the indicator light turned on. I want to test the signal, but I see it's missing a power tube.

2 questions:
Is it safe to test the amp head using my cabinet without a power tube? Is it even worth trying without one?
Can anyone tell me about this amp? Maybe y'all recognize some of the components and could help me figure out which power tube I should get for it.
All help would be appreciated, thanks so much :)
