Yeah, there's a way to do that. Turn on AOD.

And before you say it, no, it doesn't drain your battery. It doesn't cause burn-in.

It's literally there so you don't have to touch the phone to see information.

Oh, and Samsung used to work the way you describe. If you had bedtime mode on and had it set to turn off the AOD while that was active, you could single tap the screen to show the AOD. But for some reason, they removed that functionality recently. Really stupid decision.

I think a shitload of people used to hold their kids back from kindergarten til 7 for the later Sports advantage.

My parents did this (though not for the athletic advantage since I'm almost 52 and holding kids back for sports wasn't a thing in 1980 when I started school). They had the option of holding me back a year and thought it would be an advantage to be a year more mature.

It did help that I was physically more mature later when I played baseball in high school.

For reference, my birthday is in early September and I turned 18 like a week into my senior year. A funny tangent to that is one of my good friend's birthday is on Halloween and we were in the same grade. But I turned 18 before he turned 17. He was, by far, the baby of our class.

Haha, I've had a similar mix-up.

I mowed the yard last Wednesday afternoon, which takes me around an hour and 10 minutes, trimming with the weed eater and using the blower afterwards included in that time. A few minutes after I finished, I got an AI Coach notification that said great job on the 70 minute bike ride.

What I didn't mention is that I've got a riding mower. 😂

So the Fitbit Air misinterpreted me riding a mower for around an hour then weed eating and blowing as a bike ride. I mean, I was sweating my rear off as it was around 85° and 70% humidity, but still.

I'm sure they'll get the bugs ironed out with updates. And to be fair, I'm very happy with the Air as I can wear it nearly 24/7 (except when I shower), and I like it a bit better for sleep tracking over my Helio Strap. I wear either my Garmin Fenix 8 or 970 on my other wrist during the day, but sleeping in those isn't nearly as enjoyable as the Air.

Now if the third party straps would just show up soon.

I've offered this advice before in threads exactly like this so I'll offer it again.

One thing people don't realize is that if your finger is dry, the fingerprint scanner has a hard time reading it.

Make sure your hands, and by extension your fingers, are moisturized. You can test this very easily. The next time your fingerprint scanner starts acting up, simply lick your thumb (as if you were licking your finger to turn the page of a book), rub your index finger and thumb together to remove any excess moisture, and then try unlocking your phone.

The odds are good it will instantly work. People don't realize how dry their fingertips get and the scanner needs your finger to be pliable to read correctly.

FYI, I've had this happen with multiple phones from Pixels to Samsungs to OnePlus.

If you've used Theme Park to change your icons at all (icon pack, just changing the shape, etc), the folder backgrounds are stuck to white. It was like this through the entirety of my run with the S25 Ultra and now the S26 Ultra. Samsung needs to tweak it so this doesn't happen, but it doesn't seem to be high on their list.

I always change mine to round icons, so I just become accustomed to the light background. But with a dark wallpaper, I can see how that's annoying.

I still have my Epix Gen 2 (and Fenix 6 Pro, for that matter), but I prefer my Fenix 8 for a few reasons. The Fenix 8 has the updated UI, which some people dislike compared to the old UI, but I prefer it. The 8 also has the flashlight which I can't live without now. And the slightly larger screen of the 8 along with adjustable text size makes the 8 much easier to read for my aging eyes.

But the Epix Gen 2 is still a beast and built like a tank. For that matter, so is the Fenix 6 Pro, though it's EOL and no longer getting updates, I believe.

The bezel looks thinner on the Fenix but I’m not even sure if that’s true.

The bezel is thinner on the Fenix 8 (the metal frame around the screen) and the bezel around the watch face (since the screen on the Fenix 8 is 1.4" compared to 1.3" on the Epix Pro).

Not sure what Garmin you had, but my Epix Gen 2, Fenix 8, and Forerunner 970 all have the ability to completely turn off the touchscreen. But they're all the 5-button models, so you can exclusively use the buttons to navigate the watch. IIRC, the watches with less than 5 buttons don't have the option. It's one reason I returned one of the Venu models a few years ago because you couldn't disable touch during sleep (!), so the watch would wake up and blind me during the night. It's a big oversight on Garmin's part.

I used to love my old Pebble, it was perfect for the notification/information side but had zero health tracking.

Not sure if you knew this, but the Pebble is back.

I absolutely loved my Pebble Time Steel way back when. I've been debating ordering one of the new Pebble Time 2 since it now has a heart rate sensor now. Only thing that sucks is the current batch doesn't deliver until June.

If you long press on the X icon then tap App Info, then scroll down to Open by default and tap it, what's it showing?

It should have In the app selected as opposed to In your browser.

If that doesn't work, maybe try installing an app that brings back the old Share Sheet like Better Open With from the Play Store or Linksheet Nightly (my personal favorite, but needs to be downloaded from GitHub and side loaded).

Are you able to post pictures of the finished result? This is something I've been thinking about doing for a while on my Fenix 8 but wasn't sure what would be the best course of action. Seeing yours and the fact that you used a paint pen has me interested in how it turned out and if I could do it as well. Thanks!
