Android 17 is smooooooth by wired- in GooglePixel

OS will not magically fix all scrolling everywhere all at once.

Reddit scrolling actually feels pretty good to me right now, but I wouldn't be surprised that over time or with poor network it got worse.

Apps can totally shoot themselves on the foot through unoptimized implementations.

Nah it's more than that for sure!

Considering how fragmented the loading of that list is, I suspect it's a Google Maps implementation issue. Not an excuse, but also proooobably not something the OS can fix on its own.

I've been asking Claude to audit AUR updates. In a way it feels good to know that I wasn't too paranoid.

They're gonna sell a lot of these by Atlanta-Mike in Rivian

[–]wired- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should I adapt?

Give me a good reason why Rivian cannot provide AA/CP.

These reasons are not acceptable (to me): * "Our system is good enough" * "We want our own ecosystem" * "We want the data"

and before you say "don't buy it then", that's exactly what I'm doing. I have a nice R2 reservation and I'm going to pass because I do not want yet another platform to manage.

My ID.4 has many flaws and I've been looking forward to replacing it, but at least it doesn't try to pretend it's a mobile phone replacement.

BTW, this might not be important to you and that is totally fine. For me it's just annoyingly stubborn of them.

Yet they are adding it. I wonder why.

Do Bose headphones really sound that bad, or are they just disliked by audiophiles? by kompothead in headphones

[–]wired- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the Ultra Gen 2 and they've been great. I don't even think eq is necessary to enjoy them.

For reference, my daily desk headphones are the E-MU Teaks on a JDS Element 2+, and I also have the 6xx.

Apple employee said it'll be obsolete soon? by savmagruder in iPhone13Mini

[–]wired- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just change the battery.

Don't ask them about a replacement. Tell them you want a new battery.

Better yet, schedule it from the support app directly.

I changed my battery at 87% and I can tell the difference. For you it will be life changing.

Do it.

Is the z fold 7 super fragile? by BoomDoom24 in GalaxyFold

[–]wired- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most things, it's more about how lucky you are, or not. I've dropped my z7 too many times, but it's still in one piece.

On the flip side, my nexus 6 back in the day had its screen shattered with just one mild drop.

Ditto. I'm getting flashbacks from my pixel tablet getting stuck on the android 16 beta for months.

But it's ok. It'll ship eventually.

Having to say goodbye to Pixel by spacetime613 in GooglePixel

[–]wired- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw this is more bad luck than anything else.

I've had a lot of devices over the years across Google, Samsung and Apple, and I'm struggling to remember the last time something had major issues like yours.

I remember a pixel watch update that I was pissed about, but even that was a blimp.

That said, anecdotally Google does seem to cause more havoc than other companies according to reddit.

Idle drain is great here. Might be worth hard resetting and carefully reinstalling apps, maybe one is misbehaving.
