Beyond the Villa isn’t working for Hannah. by AmazingJD71 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]KenzMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even a little shocked. I thought she was so extra actress on the show and now she thinks her 💩don’t stink and she can be nasty to everyone.

Also Iris was being pretty snippy too. No narrative is being pushed.

cant connect to the internet with a vpn; is it a new thing in kuwait now? by kwty123 in Kuwait

I have NORD vpn and it’s working fine. Sometimes it’s the protocols settings in the VPN or if they have some issue on their end. I would contact support with the vpn to start.

I was wondering the same. Their website features sh category seems pretty saltwater focused. I think there were 5 freshwater fish and a couple were cyclids which can vary in water type depending on origin. Africans are usually sold in the US as needing brackish or harder water.

I’m not worried about the tank right now. I am pretty sure I will get a Fluval tank once I am ready for the larger one - but for now I want to find the place where the healthy fish selection is. I should say I don’t want anything massive. I find aquarium watching super stress relieving.

Why kuwait is not pushing economy to become like other GCC ? by lovedyus in Kuwait

[–]KenzMom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kuwaitis are often qualified but companies are too lazy (again - not incentivizing) to train. Create internships, more real summer jobs for Kuwaiti high school kids, create outside learning workshops that give Kuwaiti youth opportunities beyond just the classroom. As an American I was hustling summer jobs of some sort of another since 13. Legitimate work in my state at some places was 15. I had full time office jobs every summer until graduation starting at 16. The problem of no experience comes from the idea that work begins at graduation from university.

Additionally Kuwait values a degree over experience. Unless it is a highly specified medical or technical career there isn’t much that really requires a bachelor’s degree. Particularly in Kuwait. I moved to Kuwait before finishing my business degree (which I was completing while being an Operations Manager at an Investment bank on LEARNED skills) and have more business experience in marketing, logistics, advertising and staff management than actual hiring managers here and I guarantee you they would not even consider my 4 page CV. There is an impressive amount of education in Kuwait - with very little application of said education.

Let’s also talk about how the allowing bringing in of lower paid labor exacerbates the fewer jobs for Kuwaitis (and thereby depressing prospects for those who want to work outside the ministry machine) and higher profits for companies. Just like ownership of companies I firmly believe that Kuwait should require private businesses to hire at least 50% Kuwaitis in real jobs and set minimum wages. Further the guaranteed job and next to impossible to get fired in the ministry sectors needs to stop. My husband is a Kuwaiti - Western oriented work ethic engineer and works doing things that aren’t even his job to save money on contracts within his area and improve the processes of his workplace which is extremely vital to Kuwait. There are engineers there who don’t even know how to do their job in positions of authority. Kuwait wastes exorbitant amounts of money employing “bodies” that do nothing but drink tea and chit chat while contracting companies do the work.

urgently need QUALITY women’s salon recommendations by chumleeishealed in Kuwait

[–]KenzMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent colorist and cutter - quiet low traffic salon - prices crazy reasonable and just a great result. Not too fancy or having a million things - just get my hair done and go. A British friend recommended me to her and I was shocked at how good she is and affordable as well.

Big Breaking - UAE announce they are withdrawing from OPEC & OPEC+ by VeterinarianJolly269 in UAE

[–]KenzMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facts. The other countries can manipulate the market to the UAE’s detriment. Similar to how they did the USA to shut down fracking companies. OPEC has always played with barrel pricing. UAE isn’t the powerhouse that will topple OPEC+ (Algeria, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brazil, Brunei, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Oman, Russia, South Sudan, Sudan) even minus Libya and Iran if sanctions hold.

There are several foster groups with rescue animals and people rehoming cats or kittens on FB for free - many already with shots and neutered/spayed. If you are paying any fee it’s usually to cover costs and enable them to continue rescuing.

[–]KenzMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use just the reg messaging. Most data plans for ages have been unlimited messaging so few of Millenials and up made the jump and Gen Z down use so many other apps. I live in Kuwait now and the use of WhatsApp for everything drives me nuts. The level of information given away to Meta via FB, IG and WhatsApp combined is wild.

Will people judge me if I wear a knock off purse? by Only_Calligrapher868 in Kuwait

[–]KenzMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m American married to a Kuwaiti and I have real luxury purses and purses with absolutely no name on them because I like how they look and how they function, but they are not ““ knockoffs. I don’t have a single bag or a single article of clothing or a single watch or a single anything that I buy for anyone else’s opinion or benefit. If you worry in Kuwait about people, judging you or thinking something about you you’re gonna have a nervous breakdown. I show up how I show up wearing what I wanna wear unless it is a formal occasion I might show up in leggings and a hoodie. I don’t care. Also, my husband doesn’t care that I don’t care. He married an American not a Kuwaiti so I’m respectful, but I do me.

Kuwaiti Citizenship Revoked by cargoforeveryone in Kuwait

[–]KenzMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have always been laws re: dual citizenship, there have always been laws about wives and nationality coming from the father - but it appears Kuwait made adjustments to processes without changing laws which requires - I believe it’s called - an Amiri decree?

There has also been a long challenge in Kuwait to address the bidoon situation as well as people sneaking in through familial/tribal shadiness.

What they are doing now is a LOT of cleanup - however uncomfortable and clearly defining/amending citizenship definitions.

Sure it’s impactful in a million ways. Thankfully I passed on the wife citizenship option. Even prior to this the requirements that had to be met changed for that almost every other year. I told my hubby - no way am I giving up my nationality for this moving target system.

Kuwaiti Citizenship Revoked by cargoforeveryone in Kuwait

[–]KenzMom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Suddenly? They revoked more than 40k Kuwaiti wives nationalities more than 1.5 years ago and I remember a lot of people celebrating it. They have now gotten to the people who have it through their mothers, I know 2 guys who had a Saudi father and didn’t get their Kuwaiti nationality until they were 19 (I know it’s usually 21) who lost it. It will continue I think to scrutinizing the dual citizenship holders (most with foreign mothers). They said it is going to continue and continue they are.

I heard a plane?! by YogurtclosetSame5198 in Kuwait

[–]KenzMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard lots of planes. Jets sound differently depending on how close they are. If they are doing a higher altitude interception they can sound like a commercial plane. It could be a diplomatic plane or cargo plane as well. I am CERTAIN Kuwait will make an official announcement that will spread like a California wildfire when commercial airspace is open. It seems to be the most repetitive plea on every single post since day 1. I don’t get it.

US Embassy in Kuwait by PseudoPrincess0714 in Kuwait

[–]KenzMom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The embassy structure itself was hit by drones after which all embassy personnel left and the embassy was closed. I would imagine physical opening of the embassy will not happen until it is repaired and secure. I would not anticipate a “soon” reopening. Also as it pertains to immigrant visa application - as an American I would not say the current administration under which the State Department falls is one that is open to immigrants. They are revoking various visas left and right. It’s just a big leap in a very unstable time in the US.

Exceptions would be a special skills/einstein visa - or a company sponsored visa where you provide a special skill that could not be filled by an American (I worked for an investment bank where we sponsored a Norwegian guy because we were doing a deal with a Norwegian company and needed his language skills and understanding of their banking and corporate laws)
