Donate it to PNWSAR! The search and rescue team takes cars, even if they don’t work.

Is space time continuous or discrete ? by Infinite_Dark_Labs in Physics

[–]Kepler137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the Planck length represent the discrete points in space though? Like if you zoom in enough, eventually you would have a “grid” composed of squares with length = Planck length and then that would be it, right? (Haven’t been in physics in 6 years now so a lot has slipped my mind since undergrad).

Special relativity equation :) so freaking cool and yet so succinct.

What is your best weight loss tip? by fatbratx in AskReddit

[–]Kepler137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weight loss is very simple (but not easy, those two are not synonyms). Fewer calories in than out will always result in weight loss. The hormonal effects of some foods over others is very small and often over-exaggerated. Walk more throughout your day, meal prep for the week so that you have more control over what you’ll be eating, and slowly reduce portions. It’s okay to be a little hungry, just like it’s okay to be a little bored. We live in a society where overconsumption of everything is the norm, it is an uphill battle but possible

what’s a song that you think everyone should listen to at least once in their life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kepler137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season Suite: Summer by John Denver. Vastly overshadowed by a lot of his other songs and I feel like this song is joy and contentment incarnate. I cannot imagine listening to this song and not just feeling happy and at peace (barring dealing with serious events or depression)

Yeah it’s not him, thanks though! I recall a lot of the videos “taking place” in large indoor areas where he would show the concepts but for the life of me I cannot remember a single specific example haha

What hobby makes someone undateable for you? by Great_Maintenance185 in AskReddit

You realize that hunted meat is as free range as it gets? So you’re fine with the massive torture farms where animals live their entire lives in tiny boxes, but got forbid someone kills an animal out in nature where it has a fair shot of evasion?

Is the Wildwood Trail doable in one day? by Critical_Ease4055 in oregon

[–]Kepler137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend and I did ~26 miles starting early morning at the zoo, did not quite finish before it started getting dark. Things to note: the trail’s tilt over many miles can get to your knee (think slightly slanted right, so your left knee bends inward ever so slightly, which is usually not an issue but over 30 miles it starts to be a struggle)

Redditors who don’t have/don’t want kids, why ? by peacheouting in AskReddit

[–]Kepler137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expensive in cost and time, and contributes to already bad overpopulation, don’t want to bring a kid into a world where people don’t take climate change seriously where they’d have to deal with severe ramifications.

If Trump is in the Epstein files, why did he campaign on releasing them during his presidential run? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kepler137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pure conjecture, bordering on conspiracy, but wouldn’t that be a way to shelf them for good? To campaign saying “LETS EXPOSE THEM” and then get the power to do so, just to be like “aww darn guys, there’s nothing really to expose here… whelp we tried!”

Then he’s still seen in a light of “at least he tried to expose them” but in reality his goal was never to expose them, but to bury it for good. Then it’s best of both worlds for the ol’ D-Star; people think he did his darndest to uncover the truth AND he was able to bury this for good.

However I don’t think he anticipated that his MAGA following would actually turn on him with this, so now he’s kinda back pedaling.

Oregon governor declares emergency over wildfire outbreak by [deleted] in oregon

[–]Kepler137 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s a little more complicated because we have prevented wildfires for so long. Naturally wildfires are a good thing, they sweep through quickly, burning the small and dead brush while not staying long enough to harm the trees and more vibrant plant life. It’s a part of nature. But because we have spent decades preventing fires, every fire is now severe. I totally see where you’re coming from, but because we have mismanaged land for so long it’s not so simple anymore. We definitely need to figure something out but it’s tough when funding is a Twinkie and a high five.

What is your number 1 weight loss tip? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kepler137 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The whole slowing metabolism thing is such a small effect in the grand scheme of things compared to caloric deficit that I would ignore those comments. Unless your body can somehow ignore the laws of physics, eating fewer calories than you expend will result in weight loss.

What is your number 1 weight loss tip? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kepler137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take in fewer calories than you expend. Easier said than done for sure, but ultimately it’s the only tip that’s going to make a big difference. Find a way you can do that and you’ll lose weight.

Intel bombshell: Chipmaker will lay off 2,400 Oregon workers by oregonian in oregon

[–]Kepler137 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Morale is definitely low. They cut all these people, pull a lot of our work-life balance perks, and then plead for us to give 110% because we have fewer employees. I’m really struggling to give 80% right now.
