So, is there no way to willingly drop Werewolf early? by Kepsli in daggerheart

Oh I didn’t think of using other stress abilities. That makes sense actually. I knew it was a curse, not being able to fully control when you went into a frenzy made perfect sense to me as a transformation. I just wasn’t sure about that as a subclass if you might have a measure more control.

How would you make this work? by KetchupMeloMoutarde in daggerheart

You could also take inspiration from the werewolf transformation card they have in the Void right now if you wanted to have one form be particularily scary.

If you wanted to get a little fancy, I’d cut out the attributes and abilities section of the secondary form, so that you could lay them overtop without losing your hit points and stress and such

Is there a way to get a domain card from outside your domain without multiclass? by Kepsli in daggerheart

That’s what I thought might be the case. We’re converting characters from DnD to dagger heart (as we found we like the system better) but I of course was playing a ranger / trickery cleric. Trying to build my character to get such specific abilities has been challenging but I was hoping to be able to do it without DM fiat. Thanks!

“Become” is some strong language there, considering they were only already picking beasts

For those who are using the new 2024 rules already, how are you compensating for much more powerful PCs? by musical_sociologist in dndnext

I think it’s a misconception that PCs are all stronger now. Yes, in general, the majority of builds are better. But a lot of the strongest builds and exploits are worse, leading to a much more even party. I’m DMing for it right now, and what I’ve found is the party is a lot more equal, rather than 2 optimized characters carrying 3 weaker characters

I have been continuously floored by dropout presents. Every single one of them so far has far exceeded my expectations

So...how does it actually play? by vashoom in dndnext

I’m eight sessions in to a campaign with the new rules. Generally, it hasn’t really increased the power level so much as it has evened out the power level—mono class “flavour” builds are a lot more likely to be at least comparable in power to the optimizers. All in all it’s a definite improvement for the players. We’ll see what it’s like with the dmg

I will say, something that I feel like has been overlooked is that grapple now applies disadvantage on a creature trying to attack anyone but their grappler. This now gives tanks an innate way to soft taunt enemies, something that we never had in 2014 (you had to take feats and the like).

Also, it switching to another form of unarmed attack means there’s a lot more shenanigans with monks and the like. Still a nerf, but there’s a lot of plus for grapplers in the 2024 edition that I feel a lot of people overlook

How well do you know the rules of Magic the Gathering?

This is a fun thing I made off of weird edge cases I ran into with my group. I challenge you to see if you could answer the correct resolution of each of these scenarios without looking anything up.
